wow..sounds like a really great event.

 

 

 

One thing that drew my attention though was the outfit specs on post one. DIdn't quite sound right to me.. so i did a little research and found this picture:

 

 

As the image shows, clearly the armour is bronze. BUt seeing as our spartan-esque helms are steel, we'll have to improv.

 

Note that they ARE wearing skirts..nothing is wrong with that...they wore them to improve their agility in combat.

 

Another important thing to note is the shields. Not only are they circular, but red and have a upside down 'V' on them. To solve this i went to the RS knowledge base and checked out the workshop section of construction. To my surprise i found this:

 

 

Not only are they very similar to the Spartan symbol, but they can be made with a steel kite shield [which we all can easily get to match our outfit].

 

The red capes are also important. Seems like red is a popular color with spartans eh?

 

Most are wielding spears. I know that spears aren't readily available, just thought i would point that out.

 

 

 

So to overview:

 

-Change leggings to skirts

 

-Not make mandatory, but make an option to make shields and banners in the heraldry of "kandarin" to match the theme.

 

-make red cape a must

 

-it doesn't show it in this caption, but most spartans wore vambraces. As to why i don't really know, but it would make a nice addition to the theme.

 

-they wore sandals, but leather boots would do just fine i would assume.

 

 

 

so this is what i came up with for the entire entourage:

tyras helm

 

steel plate

 

steel skirt

 

steel long

 

leather boots

 

normal red cape

 

kandarin painted steel kite

 

 

 

i almost tryed out a steel chain to see if it matched better, but didn't want to make 3 more steel bars : I think that this would be a great addition to the event.

 

 

 

On a side note, i have a shield stand in my house, so i could open up my house for a bit so peeps can get their shields painted up. sorry guys no banner easel yet -.-

Other than that, I think Caskade's outfit should be the real thing, if you aren't using a spear of halberd. IF you guys want, I can go down to Tyras camp and buy 200 halberds and give em to ppl for free day of the event...

No, I learned a lot about Greece and Rome, and the upsidedown "V" is the symbol of Sparta, and the colour red was often associated with Spartans. Not everything comes from a game :shame:

 

 

 

Also, Macedonia? They really weren't aiming for historical accuracy. If memory serves the Macedonian symbol was a star.

I have made a few updates to the main post, there are new leaders nominated. We have 5 leaders at the moment and 4 nominations still waiting to be confirmed, i am going to send each of the nominees a pm asking whether they are still upto being one of the leaders.

 

 

 

Just to clarify a leader's job is to:

 

 

 

Help co-ordinate the event

 

Answer any questions other people may have about the event

 

The army might have to split off into lines rather than a scramble so leaders will have to take responsibility for each of their lines.

 

 

 

Current leaders must meet me and others at a location which i will pm them. The Leaders will be testing out different combinations of the outfit, confirming our outfits and normal people's outfits. Times, Route taken and which worlds we shall go to will be discussed as well. Finally after costume and route are decided we just have to wait for the event. Meeting will probably take place at September 10th and moopy you get the helmet at the port sarim shop just south of the void knight squire. their 5.5k last time i checked.

Agreed. Marching in a square formation would be hard due to the limited co-ordinating skills we have on runescape. But if we get an equivalent amount of people to follow each leader in single file. And if the leaders marched side by side. It should look like a square, rectangle kind of.

I will try and come. Cant really promise anything, but such a great thing will have my admiration.

Hmm Ca2 sunday is a bit tight for me as well i just noticed maybe i could move it to sunday reply to me and say saturday is alright if it is then i'll move it to 23rd. Which should be a wayy more suitable time for me too. Sorry guys for any inconvenience caused.
