September 25, 200619 yr *warning - I tend to ramble a bit, sorry about that* I was walking to school on Friday morning, it was a bit chilly outside, about 40ish Fahrenheit. I noticed something gray in the grass. At first I thought it was a raccoon or summat. Then I realized it was a kitty. I thought it was asleep, but it was actually dead. Frozen stiff. A dead kitty frozen stiff. It must have been outside all night. I was absolutely shocked. Mortified even. I had no idea what to do so I just left it there. I thought someone else might take care of it. So this morning I see it again. I saw a fly crawl out of it's dead mouth and it was laying on a different side than it was before. Mind you, today's Monday and I first saw the kitty on Friday, atleast a weekend has passed since it passed. I also saw about three other flies crawling on it's belly and a few others flying around it. I'm not entirely sure what to do. I can't exactly bury it because it's too far from my house (I'm only a few blocks from it but that's too much of a distant for me to carry it.) And a trash can is just about a block down the street. But, um, I'm not sure what I should do when tommorrow I have to walk past the poor thing. I could knock on the door of the house which the kitty is in front of and punch the face of whoever answers, but that's not too rational. So I came here, asking Tip.It for advice. It doesn't have a collar so I can't really track down the owner and do anything insane. It's just a poor young kitty (about a year or so old if I had to guess) that died from the elements and it just saddens me. What should I do about the kitty? We don't rebel to sell it just suits us well, we're the bright young things.
September 25, 200619 yr Ooh, shouldn't tell my grandma about this, she'll cry.. Nothing you can do. Just like LP said, let nature take it's own course and everything will be fine
September 25, 200619 yr It's a sad sight, but what else would you do with it? You have to realize, one way or another, it's now food for bugs. If you bury it, worms will eat it. If you leave it, flies will eat it. The best you could do is bury it so flies can't reproduce on it....Annoying things. The popularity of any given religion today depends on the victories of the wars they fought in the past. - Me!

September 25, 200619 yr Author Well ... yeah true. I understand that I have to let nature take it's course, but I still have to walk past it's rotting corpse. Every day. Twice. I think I'l stare at the clouds or summat. We don't rebel to sell it just suits us well, we're the bright young things.

September 26, 200619 yr If nobody takes care of it, I suggest taking a garbage bag, scooping it up and throwing it away. When the flesh starts to rot it's going to smell horrible.. Trust me. Occasionally I'll find a dead bird in my yard or a dead squirrel on the street that's been there for a while and it's starting to rot. Not a fun thing to have to walk by every day.. September 26, 200619 yr You should make a call to whatever department of your local council is in charge of collecting enviromental waste. I live in a sort of buffer zone between the city and country so this happens now and then, the local council is good about picking up dead animals quickly, especially in residential areas. He who learns must suffer, and, even in our sleep, pain that cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart, and in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom to us by the awful grace of God. - Aeschylus (525 BC - 456 BC)
September 26, 200619 yr poor cat. Just let it be. Trix.--quit WoW as of 12/07Thank you 4be2jue for the wonderful sig and avatar!
September 26, 200619 yr The waste department should have already done something about it. If no one has called them yet, they will. I work at a cemetary, and when I came in on a monday morning once there was a box kind of next to a trashcan. I just drove on by then, but I came back later in the day to pick it up. When I picked it up I noticed a small stench, then I turned it over and a hole was torn in it (cardboard box). Then the stench hit me, hit me bad. Someone taped a cardboard box shut with a kitten inside. It tried to claw its way out, but it didn't make it. The point is that they will start to smell a lot, and then someone will take care of it. So don't worry about it.
September 26, 200619 yr Do you guys have a NSPCA equivalent? Basically, a charity organisation which looks after the welfare of animals? I'd ring them up. The kitty may have suffered unnecessarily, and those guys could prosecute the person responsible. Should the cat, thankfully, have died of natural causes, then they'll also know exactly what to do with it. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.
September 26, 200619 yr A dead kitty frozen stiff. Lol that made me laugh. I suggest you get a bag, scoop it up and either throw it at a car  bin it eat it for breakfast You decide!
September 26, 200619 yr throw it at a car  bin it eat it for breakfast Not funny. :notalk: :| At least, I think that.
September 26, 200619 yr throw it at a car  bin it eat it for breakfast Not funny. :notalk: :| I agree, that's really distasteful. -.- Really the best thing to do is to call an animal welfare organisation or perhaps a local vet? I'm sure they deal with deceased animals and should know what to do with it. Perhaps it's been chipped? In which case the owner could be found and dealt with accordingly. I really am not too sure either, I see lots of dead rabbits everywhere. On my golf course there were hundreds so they were forced to poison them. Now there is just random rabbit bodies everywhere. :(
September 26, 200619 yr Call Animal Welfare, they will check if it has an ID chip and also dispose of it. Poor keety :( Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. If we let players start doing this, it devalues RuneScape for others. September 26, 200619 yr Really, that's nothing.. don't over-react that much man :-s welcome to what we call nature doesn't mortified mean like.. dead? since thats what it means here.
September 26, 200619 yr Put it in a trash bag then bury it. Find its owner and punch him/her. Then let the kitty RIP. Denizen of Darkness| PSN= sworddude198
September 26, 200619 yr throw it at a car  bin it eat it for breakfast Not funny. :notalk: :| I thought I was being funny, it's only a cat afterall...
September 26, 200619 yr Someone taped a cardboard box shut with a kitten inside. It tried to claw its way out, but it didn't make it. Why would anyone even do that? If you want to get rid of a pet bring it to the humane society or the shelter or w/e. Like just taping a kitten inside a box and leaving it to suffocate is just plain... cruel. :x throw it at a car  bin it eat it for breakfast Not funny. :notalk: :| I thought I was being funny, it's only a cat afterall... It's not funny at all... besides, how would you feel if it was your pet? You probably wouldnt care... "it's only a cat afterall" :notalk: :shame:
September 27, 200619 yr Author Before I go on a tirade, I just need to let everyone know that the kitten was a stray. I'm still sad though. Btw, I must thank *almost* everyone who posted here. You guys cheered me up, whether it was Deloria's cute sig, Panda's panda pic, or darkmage's beatles reference (let it be, he said), and the general support of everyone, thanks. ^o^ throw it at a car  bin it eat it for breakfast Not funny. :notalk: :| I thought I was being funny, it's only a cat afterall... . . . I'm sorry, but I'm actually a bleeding-heart-freak that values life. Whether it's a human life or an injuried baby bird, or a broken-legged wolf or any other form of life, I value it. I don't go to extremes like vegetarianism (I eat meat as long as I don't think of it as meat) or the even more extreme Janism, but life is still important to me. To me, it's not "just a cat". It's not "just a death". It's not "just another corpse". It's life. It's something that has value, something that has meaning. And then there's something that sickens me. What sickens me is that, well, this is going to run a bit long. But basically, I believe the best in people. I always try to see the good side of people, and I usually side with the underdog. So what sickens me is when I see a "pet" being neglected and abused. I held my faith in good and I was let violently down. Oh, it must be OK to neglect and abuse animals, right? Let them die there, that's right let them die and be forgotten! We're human, we can do whatever the hell we want! We're the dominant species, and we're the only intelligent species on the planet! We own this place, and it's funny because that's just a cat! Wrong. Wrong. There's not much more that I can san than I've already said, but to me it's wrong because to think you're better than the animals is to not think at all. We all live, breath, and eat to survive, and that's what it all boils down to. So if you're going to take something as a pet, that means that animal is your responsibility. And if you let it die, then I have nothing for you. Just a cat? Well, you're just a human! Let's let you go through what that poor defenseless kitten went through. Yeah, you should go through it because you're just a human. I'm sorry but this is what I believe. (Most of this post was generalized, and only parts of it were directed at caligula, I'm sorry if I seemed a bit harsh on him, I was venting, most wasn't directly toward him. And there is some sarcasm/irony, I just don't feel the need to use html tags to point it out.) We don't rebel to sell it just suits us well, we're the bright young things.
