blade995
I got my cell phone stolen! :( I was at football practice and put my phone and my other stuff in my locker and locked it. I come back from practice, the lock is not on my locker, and my phone is gone! The master key to the lockers got stolen a couple weeks ago but they got it back. I'm thinking the guy made a copy of it. I talked to my school about this and they said their not responsible (which I know) but it's probily because the key they have was stolen. I had to call T-mobile (my carrier) and cancel my plan. Now I have to buy a new phone and I don't have the money to get a good phone like my last phone (the Razr v3). I'm kinda f***ed :( Has anybody lost something that was valuable to them?

blade995
Have you tried calling the phone? Yes, that's the first thing I thought to do. I had the phone on and when I called it, the phone went right to voice mail. Which means somebody turned it off.

knives669
A friend of mine had his cell phone stolen about a week ago. :( It sucks. I've never really had anything valuable stolen from me. I tend to be paranoid about those kinds of things.
deloriagod
I tend to be paranoid about those kinds of things. Heh, me too. ndn3master
Dude that sucks. I hate people who do stuff like this. -.- My sister went to Taco bell and gave them her credit card she forgot to take it back and somebody went to the store and spent $400. Luckly they discovered who it was by using all the cameras. =D> I myself lost a rolex at school. :notalk:

Uldric
Get your provider to shut down the Sim card in the phone. Then ask them if they can give you the details of the phone calls/sms's that the phone has made after you lost it. Should give the person who stole it something to think about. With your next phone, you could always put a password on it, just to make it more secure. :P 3 wrong passwords and you have to enter the Puc code or something. Mercifull
I really dont know why people still bother stealing mobile phones. All you gotta do is call the mobile phone company and they will scramble the phone and make it unable to connect to any network or accept another sim card. It will be useless to the thief both for himself and will be unable to sell it. Royal Mail stole my digital camera, was sent to me in the post and it just never arrived. Never got returned to sender aither :( Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. Anesthesia
I think what you're talking about is blocking the IMEI number, Matt. In which case yes, it can stop it being usable. However, if the thief has passed it on to someone who specifically deals in phone crime I think it is possible to change the IMEI, though perhaps difficult. BDave
I was coming back from school when I was in sixth form, sitting at the back of a bus with one firend, when 3 guys about 16-17 walk all the way down and right next to us. After a while one turns round and tells me to "gimme your mobile" I see he isn't messing around and take it out and hand it to him, he takes the chip out and give it back to me and asks for my wallet. I get that out, stuff cards down side and give him the ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã10 note and a bit of change I had (been in the pub at lunch time, was a little intoxicated but woke up quicksmart when he asked for my mobile). My mate had a knife to his left thigh and was going about giving mobile and money to them calmly. If they did not have the knife he would of been able to fight them, but they outnumbered us and had a knife(s) If we called out we could of seriously got hurt so we gave over money and mobiles and off they stumbled off the bus about ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã200 the richer. I'm glad I acted clamly though and didn't do something stupid just to keep a mobile and a bit of cash, and it helped me wise up alot.

nvw08
My cell phone fell into a stream when I was biking with it, I took it apart immediately and let it dry for a day, and it worked fine after that. Then, about a month later I was biking and it fell out of my pocket, I didn't realize it untill I had gotten home, I called it, looked for it on the road and finally calld phone company, paid $100 for a new one. A month later, I get a call on my phone and the 911 staff is telling my to quit making rude phone calls to them, then the ohone company calls and asks why I'm cussing them out... I waitedf a few days, and after my parents and i both said it wasnt me the staff at the Cellular company caught the people that had found the phne I dropped, and were able to make calls to 911 and 511 (provider) they were also able to look at all the text messages I had recieved, which was really creppy. Althopugh the phone had been unregistered the number still showed when they made calls on the phone, the tech guy at my providor said he never heard about somethingl ike that happeneing :o. Eventually, I got a new number, the police were notifyed because apparently 'they were in possesion of stolen property' and we never heard about it again... DaN
Royal Mail stole my digital camera, was sent to me in the post and it just never arrived. Never got returned to sender aither :( Im surprise you of all people here wouldent have been more careful. I suppose it not something you normally see coming. I think what you're talking about is blocking the IMEI number, Matt. In which case yes, it can stop it being usable. However, if the thief has passed it on to someone who specifically deals in phone crime I think it is possible to change the IMEI, though perhaps difficult. Its very difficult and theres no point once a phone is blocked its blocked its quicker easyer and allround cheaper to buy a phone than learn how to reprogram it. In Australia there is a mandatory Jail term for editing the IMEI number. The purpose of the IMEI blacklist is to reduce the number of people hospitalised or killed during muggings so its taken very seriously. ~Dan64AuSince 27 Aug 2002
