Riku3220
a 14-year-old girl was questioned b the secret service for posting something on her myspace page here is the link:http://articles.news.aol.com/news/_a/teen-questioned-over-bush-threats-on/20061014060009990001?ncid=NWS00010000000001 and for those who are too lazy to click the link...: She posted a picture of the president, scrawled "Kill Bush" across the top and drew a dagger stabbing his outstretched hand. She later replaced her page on the social-networking site after learning in her eighth-grade history class that such threats are a federal offense. It was too late. Federal authorities had found the page and placed Wilson on their checklist. They finally reached her this week in her molecular biology class. The 14-year-old freshman was taken out of class Wednesday and questioned for about 15 minutes by two Secret Service agents. The incident has upset her parents, who said the agents should have included them when they questioned their daughter. On Friday, the teenager said the agents' questioning led her to tears. "I wasn't dangerous. I mean, look at what's (stenciled) on my backpack - it's a heart. I'm a very peace-loving person," said Wilson, an honor student who describes herself as politically passionate. "I'm against the war in Iraq. I'm not going to kill the president." Her mother, Kirstie Wilson, said two agents showed up at the family's home Wednesday afternoon, questioned her and promised to return once her daughter was home from school. After they left, Kirstie Wilson sent a text message to her daughter's cell phone, telling her to come straight home: "There are two men from the secret service that want to talk with you. Apparently you made some death threats against president bush." "Are you serious!?!? omg. Am I in a lot of trouble?" her daughter responded. Moments later, Kirstie Wilson received another text message from her daughter saying agents had pulled her out of class Julia Wilson said the agents threatened her by saying she could be sent to juvenile hall for making the threat. "They yelled at me a lot," she said. "They were unnecessarily mean." Spokesmen for the Secret Service in Sacramento and Washington, D.C., said they could not comment on the case. Wilson and her parents said the agents were justified in questioning her over her MySpace.com posting. But they said they believe agents went too far by not waiting until she was out of school. They also said the agents should have more quickly figured out they weren't dealing with a real danger. Ultimately, the agents told the teen they would delete her investigation file. questions i want answered: did she deserve this? why or why not? do you think her parents should have been in questioning with her? bacab
Freedom of speech ftw! The secret service agents had no right to do this. darkmage099
lol...that made me laugh. No need to be mean about it though. I doubt a 14 year-old freshmen could succeed in killing the President. ThurinEthir
Maybe her MySpace account got hacked...(Can they get hacked??) You never know, unless you check the IP. But for all the Secret Service know, she could have dial-up. And I agree with Bacab, there's the freedom of speech and freedom of press. What's going one with all this MySpace stuff? There was that school shooting, now this... Cenin pân nîd, istan pân nîd, dan nin ú-cenich, nin ú-istach.Ithil luin eria vi menel caran...Tîn dan delu. Riku3220
the above 3 comments make sense but its kind of stupid to post a picture of your president with a knife stabbed into his hand and with kill bush written on it and not know its illegal... Giordano
Well, because Bush is King of the World. You must like him or die. That is what he SERIOUSLY thinks and his mates think too. They accuse people of terrorists even if they're not Muslims (as a Chirstan, Bush hates Muslims<-not saying all Chirstans hate Muslims, just Mr. Bush) So that means: Anyone againsts the government of the United States Of America is a terrorist. deloriagod
I think it's kind of funny seeing as how they went after a 14 year old girl. All the girls I know that are around that age don't care about politics, they just agree with their parents. Do they really think a 14 year old girl is going to try to get back secret service to try to assassinate the president!? It's not like she was trying to brainwash people to get them to kill the president. All she was doing was expressing her political views in the way she pleased. And I don't think the secret service men should have yelled at her.. Most girls I know would be crying if someone was yelling at them and telling them they could go to jouvy for posting a picture expressing their political views. Personally, I'm not a Bush fan.. At all.. But I also wouldn't post a picture like that (though I know things like that are illegeal) and I think they should take into consideration that she is 14 years old. How many 14 year olds actually do research into laws to figure out if they can post a stupid picture!? The US government disgusts me.. And I have to abide by their laws Internet Marketing For Newbies

I'm getting tired of this son a b* president we have and how f* up out country is. Gas prices were finally going down, then the oil production companies cut down on how much they're producing to get the damn prices back up and the government isn't stepping in to stand up for it's people! They're more worried about teenagers making 'death threats' against our all mighty savior, Mr. Bush.. I really don't think the Secret Service should've gotten involve. You are misinformed. This has been illegal now for 143 years, since the assassination of President Lincoln. The Secret Service takes EVERY death threat against the President seriously, no matter who it is. And death threats (even ones meant as jokes) are NOT protected by the first amendment. Oh, and to the people who say "Its a 14 year old girl!" Who's to say that you are you on the internet? I could just as easily go into a chatroom and say I am 13 or 30. The article makes it sound so much worse than it did. They probably interviewed her to know that it was her who posted it and not someone else, then lectured her on federal law. I really doubt charges would be pressed. It was just a routine follow-up. My heart is broken by the terrible loss I have sustained in my old friends and companions and my poor soldiers. Barihawk
^^ The same laws apply to 14 year olds as it does anyone else. And with so many matters to investigate (not only protecting the president, but as officers of the Treasury of the United States), the Secret Service probably did not have time to wait a few hours. My heart is broken by the terrible loss I have sustained in my old friends and companions and my poor soldiers. If I posted a picture of you with me photoshopped in shoving a screwdriver through your head, would you just say "that's your just opinion?" As I stated before, an act like this is not protected under free speech. I find it ironic that the majority of people saying "I have a right to Free Speech!" have no idea how the 1st Amendment works. And that last sentence was to all of America, not you. My heart is broken by the terrible loss I have sustained in my old friends and companions and my poor soldiers. Which makes perfect sence, it should be illegal to be a douche bag.
