Balloon Travel: A Revolution in Law Crafting?

Featured Replies

So, after completing Enlightened journey, and unlocking every route save Gnome Stronghold (I really enjoyed the quest, from the puzzles to the new clothes, to the new method of travel), it didn't take long for me to see the newest available method for crafting laws. I'm sure many others have noticed, and I know there's a topic on the official forums, but I have decided to discuss it here anyway.

Here's the new method, for clarification:

Required Equipment: 1 normal log, ring of dueling, normal law crafting equipment (Tiara/Talisman, pouches, ess :P ), and no armor (Regular Entrana rules apply)

1.) Start at the Castle Wars bank chest

2.) Leave Castle Wars with your equipment, and head north roughly one screen length.

3.) Take the Balloon to Entrana. This will take One normal log. You will arrive on Entrana a bit northwest of the docks.

4.) Scurry on over to the altar, craft your laws, and take the ring of dueling back to Castle Wars.

5.) Repeat :D

Of course, this was obvious to many of you. However, I'd like to discuss the pros and cons of this new method Vs. The old methods.

Pros:

-Faster (Theoretically. It's a shorter walk from CW to the balloon than from Draynor to the ship, and the travel cutscene is much shorter for the ballon than the ship. Also, the Ballon arrival in Entrana isn't too far from the ship)

That's actually all I can really think of for now. Tell me if I forgot anything.

Cons:

- Rings of Dueling aren't rechargeable, and slowly deplete (Shouldn't be a problem if you have a lot of them. If you don't however....)

-Requires normal logs, which either take up valueable bank space, or are tedious to collect each run.

-One less essence per trip (Due to the normal log)

The main hassle I see is the number of rings of dueling used. However, since I have a TON of emeralds, I think this may be my method of choice for law crafting from now on.

Do you think this new method will replace the traditional methods? Discuss.

Nope. I'd rather make more Laws than making them faster.

1 less ess for all that time saved? you do realize that the extra time means you can probably craft more in the long run.

^i agree,

i noticed this when the quest came out, thinking oh snap better law making, and now i'm thinking about anythingelse its helpful with.

What if I don't like 'long runs'.

i haven't tried it, but from the sounds of it, abyss would be faster than either of the methods you list

Proud to have gotten 1800 skill total before access to fishing guild

Why make a house when you can rob one?

The abyss probably still is the fastest, but for people who have lower defence and can't handle abyss runs with no armor will probably be better off with other methods.

Yes great idea!! Running to Entrana takes too long. Good find

Me and my 500 dueling rings might like runecrafting again.

how does its speed fare vs. the abyss?

The abyss is still faster - but when I want a hassle free way to craft laws somewhat quickly, i'll be using this.

oh my dear sweet lord that is alot of dueling rings

I have not timed it, but I am pretty certain that the Abyss is faster.

The run from Castle Wars to the balloon itself is almost as long as the run from the Edgeville bank to the Zamarok mage. Furthermore, you have to endure the balloon cutscene and then half of Entrana. The abyss doesn't even have those parts - from the run to the zamarokian mage it's a simple few steps to the center and then another short walk to the rift. All of its parts together are far shorter than the trip across Entrana. It is undoubtedly faster.

But of course it's more dangerous as well.

Law crafting through the abyss is 100 seconds on average ( I have craft around 150k nats-death-law)

Could you please time your way?

But I think it will be faster for the world 66 law running thing. You can carry the max number(27 ess) with a log.

Very nicely found. With the loss of just one Essence it's not bad at all. Looks like I'll be needing to start getting emeralds soon. :D
