Eventually they'll reach a ridiculous price in which players will refuse to save up. Construction seems to have almost leveled things out. Proper Daily blogging including Starcraft 2! westsidevago Posted November 10, 2006 Share Posted November 10, 2006 Since the hunting skill was announced, small rares (and phats to a smaller extent) have been falling rapidly. I think we can expect to see them falling untill a week or two after hunting is released, then a sharp increase in price(back to average prices). I wouldn't be to concerned. If you own a rare it's best not to panic sell while the price is low, just hold onto them intil they rise again if your planning to sell. i've just bought a blue mask for my rare collection(santa, green and blue mask now \) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I'd like to remind people that even though most rare prices are roughly 20% below their peak prices, they still grew at an average of 15% per month during the past half year, which I had pointed out long ago already has pretty much been the average price growth of rares per month during the whole history. I can see with all the people creating threads about this (this is about the 5th thread about rares / economy now, whereas there have been none for various months before :P) that there is some panic and the amount of selling posts on the discontinued items board of the official forums does seem to support this. Still, unless you are planning to do some short-term speculation, I really don't see any reason for people to panic. I'd also like to point out that, even though construction was and is a money drain and the prices may have dropped a small 20% initially then too, the prices of all rares were more then doubled a month after construction came out. The value of my bank at its height. Estimated value at the peak of the rares market: 250 billion+.Most likely the largest trade in RuneScape ever. Now i have 2 rares and i'm poor as garden tool. luckily soma, odd, tub and zach invited me to dk's so i could recoop a good mill or two. :) anyway, what is causing the panic? is it hunting? Prices had been going down slightly for 1.5 month already, but it seems that now people know hunting is comming out at the end of the month, the process is being speedened up. The amount of people saying they are stocking up on "money" in anticipation of hunting here seems to in complete agreement with this. And duke, do you still merchant? No. That does slightly limit my ability to have a good 'feeling' about the current market sentiment and doing too strong short-term predictions, although I have my ways to make up for that. :) The value of my bank at its height. But the weird thing i saw on the rs forums was that someone wanted to trade their blue phat to 18 santas. he was panicking since he had made a thread 30 mins earlier saying he will trade it for 19... Needless to say that if i had had 18 santas i would've done it, my dream to get a second blue :) and as far as it comes on hunting, i don't see a point on stocking up, we won't know anything until it comes out so no point. most likely it will be a money drain to some level though. I could be a better merchant if someone kicked me in the butt and told me what to do with my gp's lol. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. He probably wasn't even close as rich as Duke was, but he had couple of phat sets and maybe some other rares as well in total value of ~2 miljard gp. He staked it all farely, but unfortunatley when he was too rich he thought he could earn something from it... Not sure how much is 2 or 3 phat sets and maybe a bit more things to rare prices economy, I belive he wasn't too famous and probably not as many people notice that his banned as they noticed Duke was banned.
