I dont call people noobs, and was caled a noob yesterday by somebody trying to offer me 50 unid's for my rune h2 kite... I promptly told him it was nfs, and then i get "omfg noob my account could pwn you". The guy was 10 levels higher than me and probably could have beaten me... but i doubt he would have "omfg pwned" me.... :-w

Someone said they paid 1.3 mil for a crystal bow. I said he got ripped. Me not knowing the real price, started flaming me and calling me a noob, saying offensive items.

ok, I will post on this topic. First of all, I am lvl 72, and get called a "newb or noob" almost everytime I go in the game. I think it has just become a convenient way to insult do to the filter used here. Granted it is used all to common, for any number of rediculous reasons. What can we expect when there is such a large span of age groups. Also, as far as prices, I have seen high level people say "offer" just in the hope that they can rape somebody of their coins. I hate when I get trade offers and I don't even know what they are interested in, and to say offer usualy gets no reply from me, as if I do not know fair price I am surely not about to make an offer. I will do without before I am the next high level kids conversation piece about how I paid "x" amount more than I should have, and am a "noob/newb" for doing so.

I call people noobs only when they get on my nerves, everytime i die in castle wars, to make a high level attack me or fall into a rock crushing trap in castle wars, and when people have to pile up and kill me. Well back to post. I have lived my runescape life and my real life at a same pace. You can't say i have no life cause ive only been playing since august 3rd. I go to school (13 years old), play soccer (football most of the time ), and play with some of my friends. I have spent my whole runescape life being called a noob. When i started, i didnt know what noob meant, and i basically did not talk unless i traded. But later on (lvl 15) i started meeting people, like a person who helped me kill the vampire for vampire slayer quest, a person who taught me about pking, About the best items and everything, and at level 30, i became a member, to expand my knowledge of runescape. i realized that members should not become members at a low level, as 1) you will be called a noob for more things. and 2) you cant wear anything special or cool at a lo lvl. So i trained to wear addy as a member, got my full ham as member, and went back training in f2p. Got to where i could wear rune and became member again and trained to wear dragon. Afterwards, i started training to wear whip(now, lol) Once i got rune i thought (im not a noob anymore!!!) and still was called a noob. Wore dragon and was like (im not a noob now!!!) then i saw barrows (took a few trips myself for fun) and the whip, and how much dragon armor is, I was still called a noob!!I though (no matter what i do, people will keep calling me a noob) So i am on my journey still to wear the whip (level 64 atk) and get dragon armor (level 54 def), So don't call anyone a noob, cause your a noob yourself. Yes you may have pked alot or owned too many people in castle wars, You are still a noob until you own all of the world, and 2 things will make that impossible. 1) more people keep playing runescape. 2) people get better and better everyday.

Time has certainly flown since I first posted this topic, from my other screen name chunky_monkey5. And as I sat here, reading all of your fantastic replies, a thought came to me. What is we could ACTUALLY get people to stop using noob as an insult? Now, I know I'm going to get flammed for this, so take it easy. But, my idea is, we campaign. Thats right. We get people to fill postions, make posts, and tell their friends! For everyone who uses noob as an insult to someone who hasn't really done anything, its not right. Why insult someone who really hasn't done anything. Feel free to post more, because if this idea gets some positive feedback, I might just pursue it. The most common reason for me being called a noob is because of my lvls in other skills. I enjoy mining fletching and high alching and smithing. I don't focuse on my combat. I'm 50+ in all combat style stats (att,str,def,mage,range.) and have 56 fletch, 50 mining and other useful skills.

 

 

 

I am also called a noob because I collect the books in runescape. Some are useful in fact I made 6M from one books info. But when people see me reading they call me noob. I hate it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :x

Ive been playing this game for around 5 years and im level 73, call me a noob but i enjoy this game more than anyone because i play is slowly and i dont really skill much , not as much as when i started anyways. Though ive learnt the game quite enough to make 50k without having to become a slave to anything, a bit of hustling here and there (yes hustling), i actually get a laugh out of this game nowadays. Don't get out much? I have 45 - COUNT IT, FORTY-FIVE! - level 40-70 friends, who don't use the word "noob". And I see high levels use that word all the time.

I've never used the word, however, your argument makes me want to do so now. I'm combat 108, and *gasp* I've had an account for almost 6 years now, and *gasp* I'm lower combat/total than most people who started within the last three years. Another *gasp*: What the hell are you saying? People over combat 100 are fat? I'll be happy to inform you that I weigh only 180 pounds and work out daily. I also happen to have friends, go out on weekends and weekdays, pull off good grades, play sports, etc. You're stereotyping because one person called you that? i don't know if anyone has already covered this, but, the word noob (or n00b) is used to describe someone the is ignorant or stupid (on the first page someone said something about knowing EVERYTHING about RS, thats not true) example: a lvl 125 selling obby cape for 600k (yes ive seen it happen) that would be a price n00b

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

however, the word newb is to describe someone new e.g. newbie. and it doesnt matter what some ones lvl is, what matters is how long you've been playing. ive been playing since runescape classic was the only runescape; so it would be ok for me to call a lvl 125 that's been playing for a few months a newb even if my current character is only lvl 85

One day someone saw the word newb and thought, that's a stupid word I bet I could make it look cool. This person used his new word noob on a someone, and this person used it, etc. Soon the first person it was said to thought what does it mean and just went crazy with it. Then later someone who reads random pages in the dictionary when they are extremely bored (like me) found newb. Soon he or she understood the meaning of noob. This person spread the light to everyone he met but word did not spread as fast with newb as with noob. Noob was turned into an over-used ununderstood insult and people will probable would never stop using it.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Now though thanks to this thread and it's supports world will spread througjt all worlds so mabey, just maby, most people will stop using noob.

I've seen quite a few people use the word, as i stated the last time I posted here. Among them, again, as I said before, the majority fall under 20-80 combat area.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I still do not see ANY point in hurling such words that have no meaning outside of online games. "You have no life, you're a noob." <-- Such people talk about others being "noobs" for having no life, yet they use words that are BASED in such online games. Moreover, most of these people cannot even spell, yet they to make themselves feel better/have a big ego issue.
