It won't work well.

In Kendo, we use the middle and ring finger for grip while the excess fingers are used for balance and stability. That is how we move the shinai freely.

Ok, grab a sword and hold onto it... pretty easy huh? Now chop of your pinky and grab the sword again. Not so easy now is it?
