How can we rid the world of terrorism?

Featured Replies

It may be worthwhile to note that the US is currently fighting rebels in Iraq. They're not fighting Al-qaeda or Osama. They're not fighting 'terrorists'. They're fighting men age 18-40 who don't want their country to be occupied.

If the US was invaded by any hostile nation, be it North Korea, Cuba, China, I'm sure you'd take up arms and start guerrilla warfare just like those humans are doing.

Yes, they sabotage oil pipes. They destroy buildings. They kidnap people. Still, the US is not fighting 'islamic radicals' there. They're doing that in Afghanistan.

The obvious solution is to kill all the non-Christians. If it's good enough for Urban II it's good enough for me!

To eliminate terrorism, eliminate the terrorists. :)

I just got back from visiting Israel.

The problem is that "the terrorists" is an incredibly ill-defined group. In much of the propaganda out there, Hamas is considered a terrorist group - and they ARE, and in the past have supported terrorist activities. However, they're also the best (and often only) source of funding of good and legitimate services - for example, they fund Palestinian schools that otherwise are extremely lacking. Who doesn't support improved education? So do we just take down Hamas? Does their funding for "bad" things de-legitimize the good things they do?

In addition, I had the opportunity to speak to some Arab Israeli students. They didn't seem to view Hezbollah as a terrorist organization, but more as something of a government, and they have a point; Hezbollah provides a lot of services for Southern Lebanese citizens that are legitimate. Hezbollah certainly isn't recognized as a government in the eyes of the UN and much of the rest of the world, so the people who fight on their behalf are labeled terrorists instead of soldiers - but deep down, at the root, how is them sending rockets into Israel so different than Israel sending missiles to them?

These are deep questions, and I certainly don't mean to solve them now. I just want to point out that there's a lot more grey area than we would like to admit. Terrorists aren't just "crazies." We have to understand what has brought them to this point of killing if we even want to actually solve anything.

(My personal suspicion is that military force will NOT be the solution to this problem, and in fact, will escalate tensions and just result in more death and destruction in the future.)

Have dictatorship over all parts of the world, surveillance over every activity and person.

to have survalence over everyperson and action would probably cost over a quadrillion dollars, and who pays for that?

barcoding and microchip everyone. kill whoever doesn't comply - can't hide from the law anymore after that :ohnoes:

Drop an Atomic Bomb on every country not in alliance with the U.S., mainly countries where High-Terrorism exists. Yes my views are rather out there, and no, I don't care.

You should care since dropping that many atomic bombs would kill everyone on the planet.

Please define us a terrorist. Is it an iraqian who rises his gun towars people who are trying to take over their land or is it an american who tries to take over their land?

I'd define terrorist as one of the extremists who has contributed in killing some 33k people in the middle east killing innocent civilians with car bombs, the twin towers bombers, london bus suicide bombers, etc.

I can't say much about foreign counties because i havn't been there so quite simply I don't know what goes on there.

The UK is constantly under terrorist threat and it pisses me off big time when their reasons for doing it are killing people not of their religion. I'm not a racist person, one of my best mates is a sikh and religious, and i've heard the same old thing from every one of them i've met, extremists ruin it for everyone.

He told me once that martyrdom came about - and im reciting this from memory because it was a while back - because when troops were invading from another country, some kid strapped explosives to himself, jumped on a tank, and essentially held back the invasion, at least for a while. He said that most religious types believe that they'll get into heaven if they kill innocent civilians with suicide bombs; he went on to tell me that both murder AND suicide are forbidden by that religion so it's a lost cause. The kid who jumped on a tank with explosives died for his faith, saving lives and becoming a hero. The difference was he died fighting for his religion, so it wasn't seen as suicide (even though some might argue it technically was.) But from what I gather from my mate, people are just getting desperate...

1) kill every person in the world

2) get rid of religion (it's the reason behind terrorists)

3) make the world a mass dictatorship/communistic (sp?) country where the goverment can see exactly what everybody's doing.

Nobody wants to do option 1. Nobody has the power to force all countries to join them so option 3 is impossible and option 2 will probably cause terrorists to recruit even more terrorists(this will lead to option 1 happening).
