Equality.

All this about equality and freedom of women is FOOLISHNESS.

The struggle for women's rights is a story of strong women. Women cannot achieve their full potential as free and equal members of society. Many women engaged in activities intimately grounded in feminism have not considered themselves feminists.

Do you think women have their place in society? If you think they do, elaborate. Are they doing anything to "de-mean" themselves, I have an idea of what they're doing.

Do you think they don't? Why? Is it because of the arrogance of men? Because of stereotypes? Elaborate.

Some women back track femminism becauce of society. They don't want to be treated differently example if a woman hits a man thats fine. If a man hits a woman there up in arms when each side is as bad as the other. Society has to change for women to have true equality.

With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.

Its the same issue as racism and affirmative action.

Of course I believe that women as well as all other human races are equal. But when women try to distinguish themselves in "femenism", they try to gain special priviges and recgonitions. If they were truly as equal as men, I dont see why "femenism" should exist. There is nothing to be proud of; I (as a man) dont go around saying, "Man im glad to be a man, we have no problems". However, Ive heard countless women going around saying "Wow i shure am glad to be a woman."

I would say even in Saudi Arabia, men and woman equality is pretty good.

But to be honest, the only ones who had it right were the Egyptians. They had both female and male leaders and gods.

Sometimes I don"t like when men lead things because they can be egotistical and not understanding. I would like to see a woman as president, I would love it! I love as well that the speaker of the house is female now!

But not Hilary Clinton...

Us Brits got it right though, we had Margeret Thatcher. I think that femenism does start to get a bit on the crazy side though. They live under a government that decrees equal rights, so why are they taking it a step further? :-k

I'm not for the treating of woman as men. There is a difference. I don't think that women should be firefighter, police or allowed in the Army as soldiers. If I was trapped in a burning house/ being held up at knifepoint, I don't want a woman to come and rescue me. I want a man built like the hulk.

In pretty much all other areas, I think that woman and men should be equal. Not treated the same but equal.

Women are also more emotional and can't think straight when needed to. There is a reason why men are in power, even today.

So the Fire Department would not hire a strong woman because of her sex?

For those examples I think its the skill of the job you do, for instance Fire fighters. People should be hired that can pass the tests and are strong enough to resuce and stuff.

Yeah, but the test better be the same. Women get it easier when it comes to the strength tests. The doll is lighter than what a male firefighter would normally be tested with.

Also, women in the military have to run less, do less push-ups. Etc.

I have no problem with women doing a mans job. But they have to be able to do it. Not just cry sexism every time something doesn't go their way.

Of course, with different test it'll defeat the purpose. :)

I'm against sexism and racism, unless people take it a step too far.

I would rather have a 200 lb male firefighter pull me out of a building than a woman, but that's just because the guy would be genetically stronger. If they were equally strong, I wouldn't give a pile of dirt about it. I mean, a firefighter is a firefighter, right?

Exactly. But a firefight is in a heap of poo if he is too weak to carry you out of the gear.

I'm tired of all the "Ladies first" crap I hear. People go "oh noez we're ladies we deserve everything first" and then, of course, you have feminist and people who use that "ladies first" thing. I hate that with a passion.

That's always bugged me aswell. Not past the point where it really pisses me off. Equality and manners are different. Manners are more like guidlines.

personally, if women want equality then why is it against the law for hitting a girl? that annoys me so much cause if anyone annoys me to the point im going to have to hit them to stop them im going to hit them. boy, girl, black, white i honestly dont care :-w

but seriously, you want equal rights ok, do some REAL push ups instead of that put one knee on the ground crap and dont complain when a guy hits you because it isnt fair to us that a woman just just hit us and we cant even lay a finger on her back

I don't really say "ladies first", but I will show respect in letting her order first at the dinner table, or holding a door open for her. It really is just common courtesy.

Its actually natural for the male to be in service of the female. Look at virtually any animal. We didnt pull any of that out of our butts. But if women are begging to be equal, then I dont think that we should follow the natural law and give them extra privilages.

That's fine, but the problem is is when they come to expect it and become [bleep]y when they don't get it. THEN they complain about not having equal rights...

How is not being allowed to chose a given profession because of your sex not sexist?

It may be sexist, but in certain circumstances that sexism is necessary. I am not saying that the circumstances cited above were examples. In fact some were particularly bad - women have a proven track record of being effective police officers.

My example would be one in which the people you'd be working with would understandably feel uncomfortable with someone of that sex - for example a male rape counsellor for women.
