ThoseTheBrokes
I'm 17 in a few months, And have got 2 options. VW Lupo. Which i'm buying from my aunt for ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã2,000 [Parents are paying 1 grand, I also need to pay for lessons and insurance -.-] So, I know things like it's background, If it's had any problems, Which it hasn't. Or.. A classic mini. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1999-ROVER-MINI-R ... dZViewItem Question is, Would it be a more sensible option to get the Lupo? And has anyone had any experiance with either cars? assassin_696
As cool as a classic mini would be, a Lupo is sadly the much more obvious choice. Better safety figures and reliability. Performance is mediocre but so is performance in most cars at that price range. "Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"
Parabola
Lupo. Expect insurance to be very high if you're going to be the policyholder just after you've passed. It is also highly dependent on where you live - for example just after I passed my test a few years ago it was ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã1250 for me to be the policyholder on a 1.8l Volvo saloon in a quiet area, but it was ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã2500 for my friend to be the policyholder on a 1.1l Fiesta in a big city. ThoseTheBrokes
Thanks. I mean, after all, It would be more mature to settle for the Lupo. A classic mini would be wicked, But wouldn't be a wise choice. My dA account..retired, as of the 1st January 2008.
Parabola
To be honest I can't stand Minis. I would go for the Lupo even ignoring all practicality.
timmay929
I'd say go with the Lupo. Mostly because you know what has went wrong with the car, what has been done etc.. 122 Combat : 99 Hits : 99 Attack : 99 Strength97/99 Defence : 99 Fletching : 99 Woodcutting

If it's not reliable, I would have to pay more to keep it on the road. My dA account..retired, as of the 1st January 2008.
greenslime89
Definately go with the VW. They tend to hold their value better than other makes. Photos!

Obsessive_Passion
As others have said, definitely the Lupo. Better handling and stronger build.
honeo
Go for the Lupo, you know more about it. I second that. Your aunt will tell you the truth more than the Ebay seller will. Ebay can be dangerous. They may be feeding you lies about the car, kind of like used car salesman :uhh: . Training my pure!

irulepoker
Smart car. I know its not on your list, but they are the coolest cars ever :D They are actually very safe too. You can hit a concrete wall going 70 MPH, and walk out of the car with maybe a scratch. They are a tad expensive, but it's worth it in the long run. But honestly, I'd get the Mini. We just sold our New mini, to buy our Corvette / Infiniti FX35, but I loved that car. And the old ones are just as fun. Before you buy it, find a mechanic near the sellers area, and tell him to take it there, and have the mechanic call you and tell you what's up with the car. Just a tip. ;) My Farewell thread. Please post nicely, or die. :^_^:Yea, I'd vote for him too. But I don't think they let Iraqis vote :P
remoteman
The mini =P~ Lol it looks so much better, and it's only eight years old. Of course it may not be the most sensible but such a cool car lol, especially the inside, it's better for picking up chicks in  "A disbelief in magic can force some poor souls into believing in authority and business"
Poopingman
Be sensible about picking your first car. Picking up chicks isn't your first priority. I made this mistake myself, I was so worried about trivial things like that, I overlooked some glaring faults. Metal fans, check out my band!Still the King.... Barihawk
When picking a car, go for smaller size and power. That way, your insurance bill wont be so bad. I had a choice between a crappy Saturn and a 68' Mustang for my first car. I got 5 years out of that Saturn before she died on me. I miss her. :( My heart is broken by the terrible loss I have sustained in my old friends and companions and my poor soldiers.
