January 28, 200719 yr u dont have a shred of evidence for evolution, u may pretend to but its all false anyway. we christians are teh voice of reason and we will not be silenced. I got a PM to remove that post for spam, but I'll leave it there as an example to show exactly what not to post on a debate. A lot of reasonable christians will be ashamed because of your posts on these forums, please keep this on topic.
January 28, 200719 yr there u go again u fashist, tryin to silence the christians again. im startin to think u shud get posting privalages revoked on this forum. u dont have a shred of evidence for evolution, u may pretend to but its all false anyway. we christians are teh voice of reason and we will not be silenced. From a Christian: Carlin, you're an idiot.
January 28, 200719 yr yeh i agree with u 100%, why are us christians being persacuted just for our faith that jesus is our lord and savior. atheists are just ignorant to christ's glory and when they make posts about something that is no more than religion (evolution) they get to have a go at any1 who proves to them it didnt happen. it isnt fair how they get to talk their ignorant views when its clear that god cant be disproved. its clear that we were created and its clear that ppl who speak badly of god will be goin to hell when they die. anyway, if u get too upset by it just remember that we will be in heaven while they r burnin in hell. Hehe, that made me laugh. Thanks. Guess I'll won't meet you in Hell then, for all my sinning by thinking God is not real and not feeling comfortable with the idea that Jesus is my Lord and Divine Saviour. Meh, [cabbage] happens, at least Hell has permanent BBQs. edit: you're an insult to all proper Christians by the way. Forgot to say that. Ah now, here is the reason why Christians and other religious people are often generalised and badly treated. Many Christians are so sure they're right - 'omg, I will go to heaven, you willl suffer everlasting torture in hell' that the athiests get sick of it and start insulting them. u cant blame us. it is frustrating to see ppl who just cant see how things are even when its this simple. it makes us think there kinda thick tbh.  Show me proof of God and I'll stop being so 'thick'. Oh, that's right.. There is no proof. You can't be sure there is a God or not. You can believe what you want, so why can't I without being 'thick'? You're quite hypocritical and that's why people like you are treated so badly. If you want to educate me about part of your religion, that's great and I'll probably listen. But when you start calling me 'thick' because I don't want to believe the same thing as you, you're just looking for a fight. You have no right to tell any of us that we're 'thick' for not believing and it's people like you that cause the rest of your religions' followers to be treated poorly. You say it's simple to see how things are. Now it says everything was created by God in seven days. It didn't define how long those seven days were. They could have been thousands of years and thus you could have have evolution. Now show me how evolution is simple.. And don't tell me 'things evolved.' Tell me how they did it, what happened in their bodies and why it happened. Simple, isn't it? Nothing is as simple as 'God made it.' There is a scientific explanation for almost everything. January 28, 200719 yr ahh so u admit that god is the only explanation for some things. Yes, there are times when God is the only explanation I can come up with for things. However, there are some things that are unexplainable even with God as an option. Such as ghosts. Many people claim to have seen then, many claim to believe, and others choose not to. But I don't think God is wandering through my house at night or scaring the living daylight out of young children. If you care to know, I'm agnostic (not athiest). I believe there may be a God however I don't feel we as humans will ever know the truth (that is, until you die). Internet Marketing For Newbies

January 28, 200719 yr If there was a God, it would be completely illogical to think that It'd be specific to any religion. If there were a God, and It were to reveal Itself to humans, wouldn't it be possible and logical for one system to have all the right facts? If one system embraced all of the things that God had revealed, and others systems did not, then wouldn't it be logical to say that that religion is God's religion? You don't need to accept any religions at all, but you should accept the fact that people have different beliefs, and just because you believe something, does not make it right if it has no factual reasoning. What if something does have factual reasoning? Now, I don't mean hard proof; I mean that it fits the facts of life. If it explains life as we find it, then may we accept it as true? _________________ I have a question for everyone here: What is true tolerance? Is it accepting that other people have beliefs and never interfering with that, even if you believe them to be wrong? Is it saying that others' beliefs may be true? Is it saying that everyone's beliefs are true? It seems that most people who use the word "tolerance" nowadays intend one of those meanings, and most of them insist that Christians are intolerant and insult us for that. Of course they see Christians as intolerant! We define tolerance differently that they do. They say tolerance is not claiming exclusive truth. We say tolerance in speaking the truth in love. They say tolerance is not fighting over beliefs because you don't know which belief is true. We say tolerance is loving your neighbor and living in peace with him, even when you do know he's wrong. Their tolerance tolerates all ideas. Our tolerance tolerates one idea, but all people. Feel free to argue all you like about how people who call themselves Christians don't do this. Of course they don't; even Jesus taught that most who would call themselves His followers would not really know Him. But regardless of how people act, this is the tolerance that Biblical Christianity teaches: allow only the truth, and hate all ideas that are false, but love those who hold those ideas, and show them the truth through your actions, your attitude, and your words. This is Christian Tolerance, and it is vastly different from Postmodern Tolerance, which is why Christians are so often hated for being intolerant. "In so far as I am Man I am the chief of creatures. In so far as I am a man I am the chief of sinners." - G.K. Chesterton

January 28, 200719 yr Christians arn't persecuted really. All religions are questioned by people and they should praise that questioning. Without it they wouldn't question anything and their religion would become a dead dogma. Why people beleive is much more important on this earth that what they beleive to me. With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.
January 28, 200719 yr They get shut down a lot because debate on a forum is focused around logic. Religion in a sense defies logic, and is based on faith. Therefore it's hard to back it up on a forum, and easy to attack it.

I suppose so, I ment more like it was highly improbable. In all of the universes and all the sentient races that exist, it wouldn't make much sense for any religion to have a proper, complete view of a "God", if one exists. We on earth argue over Gods existence, and we all have the same history of thinkers and religions influencing our ancestors, and and thus our ideas are melded together in the fact that they all stretch out from one common source in history. What of some other race on another planet, who's "source of knowledge" is completely different, having no influence from our thinkers, thus resulting in a completely different worldwide ideology? There could an infinite number of planets like that, so thinking that any religion on our planet is not only more accurate than the other religions on this planet, but more accurate than all the other beliefs throughout the universes, it just doesn't seem to make any sense. Then again, if humans really are the only race in existence (doubt it), then I suppose the chances are at least possible that a randomly chosen religion on our planet is right  . I don't mind people believing in Christianity but I want them to at least respect my right to believe what I want without having it slammed in my face.. If something is true, does it need to change over time? If Pythagoras, 2500 years ago or so, discovered that a^2 + b^2 = c^2, do we need to update that truth because times have changed? So hypothetically, if the Bible is true, would it need to be updated to fit the times? It might need to be applied in different ways, but the truths themselves would remain the same, and would always work if applied correctly. Timeless truth is always timely, after all. If you deny the truth of the Bible, the whole point is moot, but assuming it is true, it would not need to change with the times. The only things that change with the times are things which are not universally true, but timeless truth is always timely. "In so far as I am Man I am the chief of creatures. From what I've seen, atheists are actually just as bad ( or even worse) at 'slamming' their beliefs on people. Yea I hear more slamming on religion than I do on Atheism. For example, for some reason my friend seems to always make a point to mention that "there is no God" whenever he can. I'm just sitting there thinking "why?". Why does he need to constantly say that? Its almost like he is so insecure about his beliefs that he needs to slam others to make himself feel better. I know that not all atheists are like that, but I do hear more of that stuff than I do of people making fun of the belief in no God.

I often hear the argument that the Bible says it wrong. Ok, so it was wrong when the Bible was written. But it's more widely accepted now and yet the Bible continues to say it's wrong. Times change and some things need to change with it. I'm not saying all things, but like the example. Homosexuality being wrong is merely an opinion and thus can easily change but the Bible doesn't update itself as time goes on. For example, if the good religious leaders hadn't thought up Heaven and Hell (whether they believe in it or not), then everyone would feel like they can do whatever they want in life and not get punished for it in the afterlife. There are a lot of people that are good solely because they believe in Heaven and Hell, so kudos to those guys for thinking those two places up. January 28, 200719 yr Everything in the bible is opinion. It says to love your fellow man. Thats opinion only that opinion benefits society. What benefits society will change and change too, so nothing in there could possibly be always relevant to what is best.
