Okay I've noticed that many topics in this forum are biased toward 'there is no God, anyone who believes in God are all fools.' Many Christians feel they are unfairly treated (as well as anyone who practices another religion). You can go to a topic with many atheists on it, say it's about evolution, and you'll see a flame war. The Atheists will call the religious people 'ignorant zealots' and make posts like 'Get the hell off this thread; any religious posts will not be tolerated and will be reported.'

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I do not believe that someone should be criticized for their faith. I mean if Christians are right, they'll go to Heaven, and Atheists will all go to hell. So what's the use of Atheists getting so pissed off all the time? Instead of 'These ignorant zealots will not keep a civilized conversation, it's quite the contrary.'

The forum is actually biased towards religion at the moment. Forbid you were here a year ago.

 

 

 

I noticed you brought up the evolution topic. That was a different story. That was religious folk not permitting discussion about evolution. They saw the word, and they automatically spammed or flammed the topic. However, if you look at your religious threads, they are untouched. I thought about going in there and doing what you guys did to us, but im not an [wagon] like that.

Well this religious thread comes to my mind right away. It's the reason why I even made this. Someone was having a discussion about dreams that are messages from God, and it got flamed. This was created before the ban on these topics, so it's most likely dead/locked.

I have no idea whether God exists or not. I however am firmly against religion and I often feel unfriendly to people who are dedicated devoted Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Siekhs, or any other religion, because I'm terrified of saying something wrong :roll: . Religion causes so much trouble, I'm not sure it's worth it. Even right here on this forum it's happening before our eyes - athiests and Christians/other religions just aren't willing to get along.

I think I understand, issy. Religion is fine. It's when each religion launches personal attacks on the others that makes it bad. It's one of the reasons why I left Christianity.

Just don't post any personal flames, general, reasoned critique is o.k. and expected. Debating theological flaws is not the same as directly attacking a person's faith and beliefs he has had for possibly all of his life.

When someone takes a religion upon themselves, all who are not that religion will disagree with tem. arguements are almost guaranted to ensue, but that's life.

 

 

 

I'm agnostic personally, and therefore try to keep an open mind, but it seems the worst culprits are the followers of the Abrahmic reigions (Christianity, Judaism and Islam). Now, I'm not trying to instigate flaming (that's going to happen anyway), but this is most likely due to the violent history of these religions, and the fact that they are so large that they are seen as able to handle insults, or due to the millitant way in which they attempt to convert others to their cause (in contrast to, say, Hinduism)

But it's not that simple. Some want to believe - some don't. There is no solid proof for the existence or non existence of God, and until someone finds some, which I doubt anyone will, as rushrock said, people need to learn to respect and accept other people's beliefs.
