Myridden
ok, I'm not sure how to start this, but why do some people worship the devil? Is there a reason to worship the devil or something? thanks. "I am free of all prejudices. I hate every one equally." -W. C. Fields

pault
Woah, bit harsh don't you think? Meh, well at least he's answering the question. Gross generalizations such as "If you are a goth I would like you to tell me why you worship the devil. " make people angry and sinful, and bring them closer to the devil. It is, in fact, the Christian right which has done more to drive people toward "Devil worship" than any other organization. By labeling almost anything that goes against societal norms as demonic, evil, sinful, etc. they isolate young people and divide the world into "Good and evil". Though many denominations of Christianity are accepting and aren't guilty of this, the majority actually contribute to the "Legions of the damned." pompey_spud
Fair enough, he made a grossly wrong stereotpying of goths, but i'm sure we all connected black with the devil at one point? Perhaps we should find out if the topic starter is a young 'un, or just stupid before telling them to kill themselves? And splat, i thought you were a pretty intense Christian? pompey_spud
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goth_subculture That covers it I think, at least to the extent that most people follow it for (to fit in with a trend)
pault
but i'm sure we all connected black with the devil at one point? Darkness and evil have always gone hand in hand. The fear of the unknown. But there are people who dress in a style that could be described as "Goth" who are christians. Many are athiests. Many are wiccans. I'm sure quite a few consider themselves some form of "Satanists". It's just clothing, which in this case has nothing to do with religion. On the other hand...What is satanism? Is it some cult, or is it simply self-indulgence? According to the Christian bible, we are all pretty much devoted satanists. We don't follow the rules laid down in the bible on what to eat, how to pray, and how to remove material possesions from our lives. warri0r45
Not even LaVeyan Satanists worship satan. LaVeyan Satanism is more of a philosophy of how to live your life which means indulging in the good, pleasurable life, basically.

LaVeyan Satanism is more of a philosophy of how to live your life which means indulging in the good, pleasurable life, basically. Which is something closer to what Aristotle put out in the Nicomachean Ethics 2400 years ago... LeVay actually borrowed more of his ideas from a more modern philosopher; Neitsczhe. He made a bold argument for going against the grain and discovering things for themselves, such as sexuality or religion, rather than accepting that of the masses. forsaken
well All over my school people are saying that goths worship the devil, if that isn't what they do, what are they exactly? It's not what, it's who. "Goths" is the stereotypical label given to people generally based on their choice of clothing - black clothing, chains, piercings, [bleep]es and etc. As fair as I know, there are about as many "Goths" who worship the devil as there are normal people. . I didn't know goth was actually a subculture as such, I thought it was just another sad category/label that people put themselves into in terms of what clothes you wear and what music you listen to. I wouldn't have said they worship the devil though, I don't really believe these people exist and if they say they do, it is just a farce. My opinion entirely by the way... no fact in there at all. lordkrohn1626
nice one sentence thread  Goths: Children screaming quietly for attention. They like to say they want to be an individual, or don't want to be a part of the "social expectations of beauty and dress", or want to express their own style..etc etc blah blah blah inn reality (IMHO) the guy with the bright red mowhawk just does it for shock value, thus wants the attention...think of it as a silent scream of "please notice me!".."somebody look at me"....and then they pretend to be mad when they get made fun of..what did you expect? you have 30 metal devices shoved through your face and bright red hair with green tips? Goths are alos those who feel they don't fit in, so they go extreme so they can belong somewhere...with the other "misfits". once again, it is a scream for attention. Tigra00
I don't understand why anyone would worship Satan. By worshipping Satan, you're acknowledging that God does infact exist and thereby you are automatically going to Hell, soooo...Why would you even bother...? The popularity of any given religion today depends on the victories of the wars they fought in the past. - Me!

Some types of Satanism don't believe in the same Satan as in the Bible. The biggest branch of satanism, Laveyan satanism believes that you are a god and doesn't believe in any deities.
