jonstark7x8
But you have to figure out what everyone's definition of fun is. For some players, the money making aspect of the game is their favorite part. Any update that isn't a part of that, obviously isn't going to be fun for them. Jagex (or any company) will never make a product/update/addition that will please every single customer. But they do seem to try to balance things. 2 new "fun" non-money making skills, but they've also added new treasure trails items twice in the last year (as well as other things for both sides, just picking those 2 as examples). People just have to remember that not every update is tailor made for them, and that one person's junky update might be another player's fun. Yeah, it's like that one quote about beauty. Something about eye of the beholder, or whatever, I think I got my point across, lol. It seriously depends on what you find is "fun." Obviously, some people think Castle Wars is fun, but others think it's boring and too simple.
highlanders
For me, it's been a couple of yrs that rs is not 'fun' anymore. When I was a nub fresh out of the oven, there was lots of things to come, things to look foward to, it was fun. I'd say that in a way, I like to discover things, but once theyre discovered, that's it its not fun anymore. Same thing if I do an account on a game. I'll play it, but I will rarely make another character, because its not fun the second time. Anyway, what I mean is, when ur high lvl, in some cases, your not all excited about rs anymore, so putting fun aside, you focus on things that are useful. See it as old age pragmatism. 2480+ total
Rebdragon
Different aspects of the game are fun for different people. I remember the thrill I used to have with each level. I can still have fun in the game, especially when I'm DK'ing and beat some lurers, or get a Dragon Axe, or face all three kings at once  . tripsis
I really don't think that skills should be judged entirely on whether or not they provide a good means of making gp. Runescape does not revolve around hoarding gp. I've been flamed many times for having 99 construction. People tell me, "Why did you get 99 construction? It's such a money waster and there's no way to make a profit." But I enjoy having a somewhat fashionable house. ChewyShoe
One man's fun is another man's...unfun? You get the point anyway. I enjoy just talking to old friends and new people I've never met before while I study or read online. Personally a new, better way of communicating would be my ideal update. But I understand that the majority of people are just fine with the way that the chat system works as is. That's life, if you want change, create change. I am not motivated enough to work out a better way to work the chat system, so I fully don't expect it to change. Be pro-active, come up with a good way to maximize your fun, then suggest it. WookieeMania12
personally a good example of "fun" skills is the construction skill. Yes, it is expensive but the reason why it is worth it are the tablets and those free portals to 3 cities. I admit that with reg. mage you can use the khrayll tele for barrows. meili
I've never played purely to get gp or items. I level whichever stats I like, regardless of whether they are moneymakers or not. Nowadays I just chat with people while wc'ing/fm'ing so it's all good fun... until autoers ruin it. I find it hilarious how people play this game for the money, spare the expert merchants who actually play to have the most money in the game (making it an all-game competition). It's the most illogical reasoning ever- they play the game to play the game, i.e. they play the game for no reason. WookieeMania12
I play because as I never heard at all: 1. Runescape is a social online game where you can meet people (and avoid moronic ones) 2. The reason why I won't play WoW is the fact that none of my real-life friends play that game. 3. You don't need a lot of requirements for Runescape. And yes, it's fun to work on a "useless" skill. Yes, hunter is useless but good-useless :D We should euthanize anyone who lacks the capability to contribute to society in any way. Please don't elect this man for president in 2012

Rebdragon
1. Runescape is a social online game where you can meet people (and avoid moronic ones) Okay, it's technically "social", just make sure you don't think that it's anywhere close to the level (socially) of actually going out with friends in real life. sweety6556
skills suck unless they give cash. no seriously. people are getting a little too greedy nowadays. its becoming like RL now. you know, i play this game to escape RL because it sucks. :ohnoes: :-X i love skills, and i love training them even if it doesnt give me cash or isnt the most efficient way. i just love skills period. ((hate quests however)) its like, whenever i go to the lessers to train range, theres people swarming, trying to get all the demons. ME: "hey im here too...can i have at least one?" HIM: "MUST...GET...D...SPEAR!!111!shift1!" ME: "do you know the chances of getting one of those..." HIM: "yeah well i have to make money." ME: "don't you play for fun?" HIM: "whats this 'fun' you speak of?" #-o

I usually enjoy money-making skills over fun skills. Runecrafting, for example, is one of my favorite skills. Not only is dodging and teasing the occasional pker fun, but I am also making 270K an hour. Sometimes I use this money for "fun" stuff. Right now I am crafting 8k nats to purchase some blood and ice burst spells for one of my favorite minigames, castle wars. I've noticed alot of the money-making skills are higher than my "fun" skills. Construction, for example, is only 53 while fishing is 31 levels higher. Hunting I really think is the only exception, I love hunting and got it to 73. That's just my say. By popular demand, this signature is back- however I currently do not have a blog up at the moment and if I did I wouldn't update it. Sorry, the sig links to nowhere :( . kane531
my theory is 'if your not fun, stop and find something fun to do"... that usually means when mining gets boring... go kill something =P~ The world is full of self proclaimed experts who really don't know what they are talking about. GrimHams
I have to agree, my bank value is 12m and that is enough for me to enjoy myself on rs so i dont feel the need to merchant for weeks to get a santa/other random item that won't improve my gaming. As long as i can afford immediate runes/whip/stuff for the latest minigame or monster to slay with friends i'll be happy.
