School Demonstrations and Protests

School uniforms work really well and do a great job of reducing bullying against people who cannot afford the latest trendy clothes or new trainers.

Besides where will this campaigning against uniforms end, how long before all the catholic schoolgirls don't have to wear pleated skirts!!! lol

I get the uniform thing, and thats not really going to change very soon, but the reason why we are fighting against the sock rule, is that:

  •

[*:23pq7mrs]They have no reason as to why it is there

[*:23pq7mrs]It is only enforced by a couple of teachers, and others don't care

[*:23pq7mrs]They have to be hite too, ever worn a pair of knee-high white socks with a pair of black slip-ons?

As much as I dislike Astra for his big fancy words, I have to agree with him here.

Stop whining and where the damned uniform. It's there for a reason, and just because that reason is defuct now doesn't come into it.

What's the point of ties? I wear one for school, as does everyone else, and nobody starts campaigns to get them banned. They're certainely annoying enough, my eyes are constantely bloodshot in the winter because the wind blows it into my eyes [/exaggeration], and yet you just have to take it. You chose (or, maybe not in your case) to go to the school, so follow their rules.

crew? what does that even mean?

Anyways. Do you wear long pants? If so just wear your short socks, by the time you are a senior you will realize that dealing with school administration is futile. Stick it to the man. Whats the worse thing that can happen? Detention? Suspension (not perm.)?

Do you wear shorts? If so just wear your short socks, if they can't see your socks they wont notice they aren't crew. And if they do what happens? A warning? detention? suspension?

Or you could come up with some sort of health ailment like crew socks give you ingrown hairs on your freshly pubic legs. No really, longer socks do give me ingrown hairs on my legs...

The goal of school is to make it to college alive (and with good grades, clubs and the such and a good time) administration is usually just a scare tactic. If you are a good kid you wont have a problem shirking some lower rules like socks... Don't be a smart [wagon], play dumb. "Or sorry, I didn't realize I'm not up to code. I had a really bad day yesterday I found out that my friends mom died, we were really close. I wont let it happen again." But make sure you don't lie.

I cant really say much about how you should go about it.. but it brings me to remember something vaguely similar from my school, after i left.

my school was on the news after they banned kissing/hugging, which led 600 students (most of the school) to walk out of assembly.

I have unfortunately no idea how that went.

on a very current note for myself.. my university is planning on charging every student ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã200 each year for a bus service...

that would be ok but:

1. there is already a bus service run by an actual bus company, which is better than what the university plans to provide.

2. the university plans to push out said already-in-place bus service.

3. this will be charged to EVERY student. those living on campus, those off campus, those with cars, everyone. I am certain that only say... medical students who live off campus, and have 9-5 lectures every day, will benefit from this "service".

current plans for resisting this seem to involve boycotting the payment of accomodation fees until this bus service is atleast VOLUNTARY!

anyway, sorry bout that, it just really annoys me.

back on topic: safety in numbers, and letting them know that this is not just some silly thing, its something that students actually CARE about, rather than protest for the sake of protest. that is what is most likely to get you heard.

And so you can identify people who shouldn't be in the school grounds a lot quicker than usual (safety). There's a lot of valid reason for uniforms - most of which out weight reasons NOT to have them.

Be thankfull you don't have them, Defender2516, given the amount of justification a school would have to suddenly implement them.

looking for the guy with a ski mask on and an AK-47 in his hand works too.

but school uniforms ARE useless in most respects, exept in places where people kill each other for their clothes, which, as you can guess is rare. but protest all you want, with 500 people showing up you have a very good shot at winning in the end.

At my school we can't wear hoodies. And if we protest we will get uniforms. The principle is against it, and so are all the teachers. It's the district who implemented it because of other schools and hoodies being used to hide faces from security cameras. At my school, we don't have this problem, but we're unfortunately forced to follow the rule.

So you can stick it to the man, because you have nothing really to loose here, like we do at my school.

But it's not like anyone really follows the rule, people still wear hoodies. Rebels...:P

Girls + Skirts = Best School EVER

~Defender~

That's how it is in my school.

And some girls are happy enough to wear skirts that barely cover their arse

I know, this chick came to school yesterday and I thought at first glance she wasn't wearing any pants, only her underwear - then I realized it was a skirt. :P

we do have to wear a uniform, the only thing it requires is any kind of khaki/cargo pants, and a collared shirt. We can wear sweatshirts over the collared shirt, don't have to wear a belt, can wear any shoes and socks we want (well, no sandals)

Didn't Jebus wear sandals :-s

Long hair's against the rules? I wouldn't fight for socks, but I would fight for my hair. "Shakespeare had long hair - The Beatles had long hair - Even Jesus had long hair! WHY CAN'T I?" Might make a good sign...

"My head, my hair, my freedom to wear"

What's wrong with long hair anyways? I love my hair.

Girls + Skirts + Southern Californian climate = BEST SCHOOL EVER

Tweaked the formula a bit.

I would prefer uniforms in my school. Why? To piss all the big-clothed 'wannabe gansters' :XD:
