F2p skillcapes?

I'm a f2p Runescape player with 96 cooking, and was rather upset to find out that the cooking skillcape was p2p, contrary to what I had heard many times before from players with skillcapes.

Consider my argument. F2p players have to work at least as hard, and in fact usually harder, to get 99 in a skill. For example, in Mining, I understand that granite gives about twice as much xp as iron; therefore f2p are stuck mining iron, and it takes them twice as long to earn a skillcape. Don't they deserve something for all that effort? The other skills are in similar situations.

Therefore, I'm starting a petition against it. If you share this view, please post your Runescape name along with whether you are a member, ex-member, or f2p.

Thank you.

Skillcapes are a way of Jagex getting more memberships (and a very large reason people become members). A lot of people like the allure of them, and therefore, I am against your idea. However, you should read this: viewtopic.php?f=37&t=752642&start=0

Seriously pay 5$.
Many believe that the 1980 eruption of Mt. Saint Helens was a catostrophic geological event, in reality it was the day that Jimi Hendrix returned to Earth from the next world and actually stood up next to a mountain and chopped it down with the edge of his hand.

Everything jagex ever does for free players goes around the same old rule: you give them a hand, and they take the whole arm,

If you want to enjoy membership perks, pay for them.

I'm with xpx on this one.

if you want something that bad can't you spend the $5 on it? I am all for respect and consideration for f2p but there has to be a limit and I think "end game" content like capes is perfectly fine to stay p2p only.

The only reason I'd want a cape would be to prove that I have 99 in a skill - with quick chat, you can prove it. I'm all F2P too, and the closest I have to 99 is 90 strength, but once I get 99 I wouldn't even consider getting membership just for a cape.

99 dungeoneering achieved, thanks to everyone that celebrated with me!

From the amount of money Jagex makes from subscriptions, the stores and advertisements, the amount of people buying membership for a month to get a cape would barely register on a graph. They wouldn't loose "alot of money".

I'd like to see a jagex person say how often someone buys member for only 1 month just for a skillcape.

I don't see alot of people actually switching over for only 1 month to make profit so stop using that as an answer.

I bet jagex makes over 95% of their money from members who have been members for 6+months at least

This is by far the best thing that could have been said on this thread. You can not expect Jagex to give F2P this. So I have to go with xpx on this

Jagex has heard this argument before. It's obvious they won't do it flat out. Hope now lies in a compromise.

If anything I support Crimsoncrow's idea. It's a great half-way point.

it's normal you need to be p2p so that the p2p players have sth that they still can use (the emote) in f2p it is sth where you've worked for i think if you worked so hard for it you can spend a 5£ of 6 euro for a membership ;)
