SECTION ONE: What is this all about? Are you a person who does a LOT of clue scrolls? If so, you can relate to me. I love doing them even if I don't get huge rewards (But, you know, rewards are never a bad thing ). Another thing I enjoy is browsing TIF, where I visit the Clues,Clues,Clues (and Random Events!) forum a lot. After a lot of looking around, I noticed that the biggest problem people seem to be having is with their co-ordinates. This is where my idea came from. This Guide started out only geared towards Co-ordinate clues, but after I revived it, it evolved into a full out Treasure Trailer's Tips guide. Inside, you will find out how to gain your clues, how deal deal with those pesky mages, and much more. I hope you enjoy it! SECTION TWO: How it's sorted As you can see below, each "hidden" message is assigned a range. This range represents the FIRST part of the co-ordinate, which is the one that is North or South. For example, if my clue was 23.76 North, 10.56 East, it would fit in the range of "22,01+". *ALL PICTURES ONLY TO BE USED BY TIP.IT* [hide=00,00-01,00 Degrees North/South] [/hide] [hide=01,01-04,00 Degrees North/South] [/hide] [hide=04,01-06,00 Degrees North/South] [/hide] [hide=06,01-08,00 Degrees North/South] [/hide] [hide=08,01-12,00 Degrees North/South] [/hide] [hide=12,01-18,00 Degrees North/South] *Please have patience while wilderness pics are being re-taken* [/hide] [hide=18,01-22,00 Degrees North/South] *Please have patience while wilderness pics are being re-taken* [/hide] [hide=22,01+ Degrees North/South] *Please have patience while wilderness pics are being re-taken* [/hide] SECTION THREE: Where to obtain items for Uri's Clues I'm proud to present the newest addition to my guide, which will help you find the items you need to do emote clues. This is in alphabetical order (many thanks to http://alphabetizer.flap.tv/index.php), So just look under the heading where the item your searching for falls under. This lists the places that are the most convenient, factoring in how close the stores are to tele-spots etc. If the item says player made beside it and you don't have the stats for it, you're better off just to buy it from another player. In this section, I will show you my personal ways of obtaining clues, which in my opinion are the best ways. [hide= Level 1 Clues] Everyone has to start out somewhere. I started falling in love with treasure trails after doing Level one clues. Not only was it an adventure, but I made a pretty darn nice cash pile (about 3 MILLION) while doing so. Here is my method: Requirements: 15 Thieving [30+ recommended] Full HAM Clothes [Optional but strongly recommended] Your route: Starting out in Draynor, head EAST to the HAM caves. Pick the lock on the door (You temporarily lose a thieving level if you fail) and continue on into the cave, heading towards the middle. Now, you simply thieve until this happens: [Technically it was the second thieve because I was stunned the first time... but still, ZOMG FAST <3 ] Hopefully, you will be as lucky as me =D [/hide] [hide=Level 2 Clues] Tired of the same old rewards, thieving and listening to the HAM leader rant? Than it's time that you upgraded to Level Two clues! These have the same basic rules, but with BETTER PRIZES. Does making a 2.1M Item in a matter of minutes (Aka Ranger Boots) sound appealing to you? Than cross your fingers for luck and follow these steps: Requirements: -35-ish + combat - A weapon - Armour - Food - Sextant, Watch and Chart (see next section if you are a visual leaner, or Tip.It's Treasure Trail guide on the main page if not) This time around, we will be killing monsters for clues. I find that Guards north of Falador gate are the most convenient things there are to kill. Here is a map of our destination. Now just keep killing them until you get a clue. [/hide] [hide=Level 3 Clues] Ready for the BIG rewards? Level 3 clues have rewards that are worth MILLIONS of gp. But, there is a catch. They are much harder to obtain and much harder to complete. You will be travelling to some exotic places and battling some angry high levelled mages to obtain and complete them. Here I will list my personal favourite ways to obtain Level 3 Clues. [hide=Jellies] Jellies are the great monsters for clues. They are low levelled and easy to kill compared to most of the other Level 3 clue droppers. If you do not have 52 slayer, please check out the next section. Requirements: - 52 Slayer - Good weapon (D long/scimmy, whip) - Food Recommendations: - Access to Fairy Rings - 80+ Combat - 50+ Range Jellies attack with a MAGIC based melee attack. So, logically, you want a big mage defence. Suggested Equipment (switch Ranger helm with Black Mask if on assignment) And Inventory: [Dramen Staff and Slayer's Gem optional] Getting there The jellies are located in Slayer Cave. The easiest way to get there is using the Fairy Ring AJR. If you don't have access to them, here is your route: And once you are inside: [Taken from main website] And the rest is easy, Kill until this happens: =D [/hide] [hide=Hellhounds] Reasons to chose Hellhounds over Jellies - You do not have 52 Slayer - You would prefer to train Range The great thing [and not so great thing] about Hellhounds is that they only drop Clues and bones. So, if you are looking for some Range experience, with some Third Age and Robin Hats as rewards [Good luck], than try this method out! Requirements: - Started Hero's Quest - 60+ Range [50-59 may suffice] - Bow + Arrows - Range bonus armour Recommendations: - Form of teleport Hellhounds attack with MELEE, but you can easily safespot them. Suggested Inventory/ Equipment: Explanation: All this stuff is pretty basic. Just wear your best range outfit, with some food just in case you end up in a sticky situation. DON'T FORGET THE DUSTY KEY. Getting There The Hellhounds that I train at are located in the Member's Dungeon in Taverley. Here is the route to get to them, starting in Falador East Bank. [This route is for people w/o the required agility levels for shortcuts] SafeSpots When ranging the Hounds, most people with hide behind the stalagmites. This is a big no-no, because with these non-so-obvious SafeSpots, your Accumulator will be able to do its work. As you can see from this pic, there are 3 good spots to range from. With this method, you can range at the Hellhounds from both directions. Good luck! [/hide] [/hide] SECTION FIVE: Completing your clues NOTE: This section deals mostly with LEVEL 3 CLUES, as they are the hardest. So, your fresh off from killing those Jellies, and now you want to reap the rewards, right? Well, first you'll have to finish the clue. =p [hide=Inventory] Here is the Inventory and Equipment that I usually have: THIS IS FOR WHEN YOUR CLUE IS NOT IN THE WILDY Explanation: In your inventory, you have the basic supplies. The Clue itself, Sextant, Chart, Watch and spade are mandatory. As you can see, you also have enough runes/ Jewelry to teleport anywhere you want to in the blink of an eye, which in important if you wish to complete the clue quickly. The Prayer pot and food come into play when you are facing the mages [Level 3 clues only]. If you are doing a level 1 or 2 clue, you can leave out the food and prayer pot. If you are doing a Level 1 clue, you can also put away the sextant, chart and watch as they do not have any co-ordinate hints. If you clue is in the wildy Level three clues will sometimes have clues in the wildy. If you have a Co-ordinate clue, bring your clue, spade, sextant, watch and chart, with a good weapon (I prefer a DDP(++) for a quick kill on the mage). If its a "Search here" in the wildy, bring nothing along except for the clue. [/hide] [hide=Obtaining the Sextant, Watch and Chart] Before you say anything, yes I know that the Tip.It Treasure Trail guide already tells you how to get them. Some people [including me] prefer things with pictures, which is what I'm offering here. Looking at your clue and saying to yourself, 14 degrees, 00 minutes... WHAT?!?!? If you are, than you are one of the "lucky" ones who have obtained a Co-ordinate Clue, only available in Level 2 and Level 3 Clues. Now, to complete this, you are going to need to find some way to decipher what it's trying to tell you. To do this, you will need to get a Sextant, Chart, and a Watch. Inventory There are only two things you will need to complete this task quickly and painlessly. Bring along with you a Dueling ring with at least TWO charges, and your Co-ordinate clue [very important]. Here is the path you will need to take: Pretty simple: 1. Teleport to Castle Wars and walk to the Observatory 2. Talk about your clue with the Professor, and head towards the Clocktower 3. The person in the clock tower will give you a Watch. Continue on to Port Khazard 4. Look on the docks of the port, and talk to Murphy to receive the Sextant. 5. Teleport back to Castle Wars 6. Walk back and talk to the Professor, who will now give you the chart 7. You can now complete your clue! [hide=Sextant Tips] The sextant is pretty easy to use. Just get the sun and horizon positioned as so, with the words I added in as a guide: [/hide] [/hide] [hide=Saradomin and Zamorak Mages] Whenever you get a Co-ordinate clue on a Level 3 Trail, you will encounter a mage when you try to take their Treasure. Saradomin mages are harder, but they are in safe areas (Excluding the ones at places such as the Ice Path). Zamorak mages are big pushovers, but you find them in the Wilderness. This section will teach you how to deal with them and dispose of them quickly. [hide=Saradomin Mages] Requirements - 43 Prayer - High Combat - Food - Good Weapon (Best is a DDP(++) and a Whip/Dscimmy/Long) - Dragon hide armour (Minimum RED) ~IF YOU DO NOT HAVE 60+ RANGE~ - Mystic robes BARE MINIMUM What makes Saradomin mages harder than Zamorak mages? They have TWO types of attack. Along with the expected Saradomin Strike, they are also wielding a DDP(++) [Why can't I do that? =p]. The melee attack is what you should worry about, so the best defence is to use Protect from Melee, and have a high MAGIC DEFENCE. So, the best combo is to have Dragonhide armour (RED+) with 43 Prayer. If you do not have Dragonhide, than use Mystic Robes, as they also provide a good Magic Defence. Inventory and Equipment Explanation: The Equipment is self-explanatory; high magic defence. In your inventory, you have your clue, sextant, chart, watch and spade. You also have your 2nd weapon, which you switch to when you run out of specs. You need a lot of food depending on your level and luck, but it's better safe than sorry. Also, a combat potion is never a bad thing, but it's optional. Killing the Mage After you find your spot, by either using the sextant (Look above) or looking at one of the pictures in this guide (look below), stand there and get prepared: + + Combat potion is optional, and your prayer points shouldn't run out during the battle. When you are ready... Do all four of your DDP(++) Specs., than whip out your stronger weapon. The mage shouldn't hit much, but he will hit HARD. Watch your health closely. I recommend eating once if falls close to half, never let it go under, as if the Mage gets lucky he could KO you fast. Once the mage is dead, just dig again in the same spot and continue on with the next hint. [/hide] [hide=Zamorak Mages] Requirements - High combat - 37 Prayer - DDP(++) (best option) - Glory amulet Zamorak mages are very easy to beat. They only attack with mage, so all you have to do is mage protect and Spec. The problem, though, is that they are located in the wildy. So you have to take extra precautions getting there. Inventory/Equipment As you can see, the equipment is simple. You have a teleport for when you get the casket, a weapon to kill the mage, and the items you need to dig it up. The reason there is no food is because we will be praying against the mage attacks. Killing the Mage This is very simple. Get to your spot, and before you dig: + And when you are ready.... Just use all your DDP(++) specs, than continue using the DDP(++) till he is dead. Player Killers This is what you need to worry about when doing clues in the wilderness. If a Pker kills you, this is what happens: As you can see from above, you lose your clue, which is much more valuable than the watch. So, if you would like to keep your clue, your first defence is this: Of course, the Pker might get to you first. If this happens, you have to throw away unneeded things. Drop your Sextant, Chart, Watch and Spade, as you can get these back easily. You should end up with this: So if you die now, you won't lose anything important! =D [/hide] [/hide] SECTION SIX: Special People [hide=Click to see them!] These are the people that I feel have made the biggest contributions to this project. -Myself, for coming up with the idea  -pokemama, for suggesting that I make it into a Player Made Guide -McGuff1 (Biggest contributor so far.) McGuff1
I have a lot of the level 3 coordinate clue screen caps that I have taken in the past. I'll "dig" some of them up. Being a mod on the Clues, Clues, Clues (and Random Events) forum, the one clue that most people have trouble is the Level 2 Lumbridge swamp clue 00.20 South 23.13 East. Need a good pic of that one. You should also include a notice to check tip.it's Treasure Trail guide for more information.

vlad_the_old
This is a really good idea. I could have soooo done with it when I had 21.24 North 17.54 East. (Trying to use the sextant with the Lessors picking on you in the wilderness is no fun! :ohnoes: ) 20.05 North 21.52 East also caused me some stress. All these player kept on appearing as I was trying to use the sextant.
