Before I send you reading this -whole- paragraph of almost useless nonsense, I'll just tell you the end of the story. Guthan's warspear form barrows. Yes, blah blah blah, goals & achievements next time. That's not the point. A few of you may have seen my various threads, asking various things about Desert Treasure. Well, I finished the quest earlier today (it wasn't all it was worked up to be :( ) and have spent the last hour or two playing around with my ancients. A few duels, some casual pking, and then .. barrows. I was just contemplating which would cost more (barrowing with my usual method of charged zammy flames or using ice blitz instead) when I opened the chest. I hadn't used a single dose of prayer potion the whole trip (aren't i so great), so my mind was busy calculating the total costs of the barrows trips, and of course the inconvenience of traveling with ancient magicks. I had figured out that with ice blitz: 100 death runes 200 chaos runes - per trip - 54k per trip 200 water runes 90 blood runes 45 air runes - per trip + 2 doses prayer potion - 65k per trip 180 fire runes When I opened the chest. My mind still on my calculations, I teleported back to the canifis pub, banked my items, and teleported to CW to play with my ancients some more. I withdrew enough runes for 50 ice blitz'es, and then my black d hides and crystal bow. I've always been partial to Zamorak, so I waited until there was space on the team and entered. After scoring 1 point (I always try to score the first point of the game, and usually succeed), I decided I had made my contribution to the team and set about pwn1ng some n00bs. 3 games later (2 won, 1 lost), i banked my items and closed RS for the night. I woke up the next day, and, long story short, found the Guthan's spear in my bank that I didn't remember I had put there the day before. I ran around the room I was in, madly clicked the RS screen (sending my character in all directions) and then sat down to type this. I just thought it was funny that I got the most valuable item available from barrows and didn't even notice until a day later.

I use Charge + Flames of Zamorak, and I've never failed to make a profit before. Spells cost - 2 Bloods, 4 Fires, 1 Air Gp Cost: 1,300 per cast Prayer cost - 2 doses per barrows run Gp Cost: 4k per run I use about 40 spells per trip, so total rune cost is 52k per trip. Add prayer pot cost and the odd lobster or cheese potato, and my expenses for barrows runs come to (we'll round) 55k per trip. In order to cover that I need: 185 deaths per trip (possible) 370 chaos per trip (possible) 220 bolt racks per trip (unlikely) A barrows item. The only time I ever make a -profit- is when I get a barrows item, but I at least break even most of the time.

I did that to my pure str by finishing Dragon Slayer. :( I was at 40 atk, 50 str, 1 def, 50 mage, 1 range, 1 prayer. After the quest my def was at 33 ... what a waste of time. #-o

Lol ... I entangled and only used 2 doses of prayer potion. :) Thought he'd be super hard, but that was pathetic.

I have 10 prayer pots (4) and the rest is sharks. Would that be enough? EDIT: And I'm 82 mage, so yeah I could entangle ...

I'm doing desert treasure, and I'm about to fight Damis. What do I need? What should I attack him with? What prayer do I use? I'm equipped with: Zamorak Robes - Prayer + mage bonus Zamorak Cape - Mage bonus Zamorak Book - Prayer + mage bonus Earth Staff - Tip.it says he's weak against earth spells Amulet of Magic - Don't want to lose a glory Mystic Boots - Mage bonus Rune Gloves - Mage bonus Ring of Visibility - Obviously ... I have 100 bloods and 500 airs, so that's 100 earth waves. What else should I bring? How should I go about this? Is he really as hard as everyone says?

I did it with 1 def, and it put my def up to 33 or something like that. It was hard as hell though. I actually had to kill her most of the way, tele, bank for more food, then go back and finish her off. (By the way, Elvarg is most definitely a SHE).

I'd make a pure def. :) Imagine walking out in the wild, combat 20 with barrows armor on.

Okay, one more thing ... Where do I get [bleep]ed boots? They're a required item for desert treasure, says the quest guide.

I haven't learned anything about the Dorgeshuun crossbow yet. What does which way the target is facing have to do with it?

Where do I get lockpicks? (other than thieving rogues)

+1 EDIT: When the rest of my gym class was playing dodgeball, I stole all their walletes from the locker room and hid them in a trash can. (pulled out the trash bag, put the wallets in, then put the bag back in.) It pays for my RS membership to this day. :)

I have another one. :) If you train your range using the long-range option for your bow, you get defense xp equal to: (dmg inflicted*2) It fires a little slower than rapid, but all in all it's faster than training the 2 skills seperately. This also works if you set your staff to defenseive when maging.

I tried this ... Retribution only targets whatever was actively attacking you. If you just run up to someone and kill yourself, no damage is done.

That probably is an auto-response. They have one for every eventuality.

i can remember them being at 21m at the (cabbage or flower?) patch just west of varrock palace thing. they were some of the best times in rs :) \ and i think santas were about 200k then :P I know this was quite a bit after the fact, but as a reference point, I can tell you that purples were 14m on christmas 2004. EDIT:Does anyone else remember the not-so-famous item dupe glitch in the RS2 beta, using the seers party room chest? The one where any items you duped were lost anyway when they wiped beta saves? :(

You have to make a second one before even completing the quest. Looks like you're out of luck. :(

You're going to want def/strength up to 90, and atk to 95, to start with.

What are your stats?
