  1. Get them to write music first. Sit with a notepad and listen to the music, and write down what it tells you. Vocals should be an integral part of music, not a layer on top.
  2. sutff. I don't think he was comparing current methods of 'combating racism' to thought police. Like he said in the post, unless you control people's thinking, you'll never stop racism.
  3. I thought you loved Nightwish. Yeah, like two years ago. I can't stand any of it now. Guess wisdom does come with age.
  4. I thought you loved Nightwish.
  5. Bob Dylan. Yeah, I know. I just like the version by Guns n' Roses better. Just like "All Along The Watchtower" by Bob Dylan. Bob Dylan is the composer. The popular cover is by Jimi Hendrix. Bob Dylan now plays Hendrix's composition live, he thinks it's better. That's pretty cool.
  6. The post is about song lyrics, so therefore it does matter. The lyrics are by Bob Dylan.
  7. Deep Purple, sometime around '95.
  8. R.E.M. - Nightswimming Nightswimming, deserves a quiet night. The photograph on the dashboard, taken years ago, Turned around backwards so the windshield shows Every streetlight reveals the picture in reverse Still, it's so much clearer. I forgot my shirt at the water's edge, The moon is low tonight. Nightswimming, deserves a quiet night. I'm not sure all these people understand It's not like years ago, The fear of getting caught, Of recklessness and water They cannot see me naked These things, they go away, Replaced by everyday Nightswimming, remembering that night September's coming soon I'm pining for the moon And what if there were two Side by side in orbit Around the fairest sun? That bright, tight forever drum Could not describe nightswimming You, I thought I knew you You, I cannot judge You, I thought you knew me, This one laughing quietly underneath my breath Nightswimming The photograph reflects, Every streetlight a reminder Nightswimming deserves a quiet night. Stipe is a great lyricist.

You fail. That's just what thom yorke said. They don't sound like each other at all, but muse is heavily influenced with radiohead, and that's what matthew bellamy said. personally I think that they are completely different. EDIT: Gogol bordello is quite unique too Rock is heavily influenced by blues music, that doesn't make Deep Purple similar to Leadbelly, and metal is heavily influenced by classical music, but that doesn't make Metallica similar to Mozart. Influence is much different to 'copying'.

Aphex Twin, The Mars Volta, Beck, Fantomas.
  12. Ah, either you're not used to drinking, or you just had a really bad whisky. Scotch whisky.
  13. Same for me, we play a drinking game, where the eventual loser has to down a pint of 'donations' which consists of something from everyones drink. That is enough for anyone to go for a tc (tactical chunder) Same idea for me, just with shots. Ended up with like a double whisky/gin/sambuca/black Aftershock one time. Stupid game, not recommended.
  14. Beer coasters. I don't so much collect them, as I put them in my pocket without thinking at some point during the night.
  15. Nah I didn't catch it. A good chance to see Doherty at his most lucid (and with a really, really good performance of Beg, Steal or Borrow) would be his Jonathon Ross interview. Part 1 Part 2

[cliche]Keep grinding that axe, we'll see you at the cemetary gates[/cliche]. Now that that's out the way... Peace out, brother.
  17. I like a bit of everything, usually I wear a mixture of shirts and jeans. Always wear leather shoes. The only clothing I really really care about is jackets/coats. I love long woolen coats/duffels. Football casual coats (Stone Island etc) are my secret love.
  18. Maybe its just because the time I saw Pete Docherty he was out of his face and could barely stand but I dont really like him. I thought the Libertines were ok but he's just a mess now with Babyshambles. yeah... he is surrounded by a greenish-grey cloud, and you can also hear that from his music. When he was little more in his senses, he was ok, but now he (his brain) is done for. I disagree. While I'm with you that Babyshambles will never be The Libertines, they still make good music. Down in Albion is a good album, and the new EP The Blinding is really good as well. I think there's a huge stigma against Doherty just because of his drug abuse. People need to ignore that and give the music a good chance, he's one of the best lyricists/songwriters of this generation.
  19. Your political compass Economic Left/Right: 1.13 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 0.41 Go, apathy!
  20. Doesn't seem to be a whole lot of Libertines, Babyshambles, Pete Doherty or The Stone Roses fans on these forums.
  21. The Verve - The Drugs Don't Work It's about a person being sick, but whatever.
  22. Ocean Colour Scene, Babyshambles, Kasabian and The Stone Roses are all good names.
  23. Dyers Eve, Hero of the Day, The Outlaw Torn, Fade to Black, The Unforgiven.
  24. Overcome lethargy and apathy. Invent hangover cure.

How does wearing a black longcoat make you 'goth'? I'm rather fond of, and own a few, long/trenchcoats myself.
