  1. Yeah, the mutes even from pmods probably don't do much. At best, it forces them to use another account for the next round, which actually probably just creates more work on the back end in the long run with no difference front end. Unless the spam filter has been designed to quash people who try to pm 100 people in 5 seconds, in which case they would have to slow them down to human speed, in which case a mute might do a bit of good.
  2. Yeah, and it would probably be really unfair to have RCT 3's up against 1 and 2's, because I think there are a lot more features (could you even do banking in RCT 2?). I don't play RCT 3 enough to really justify having it, let alone paying money for S&G's on a previous version. Perhaps we could run two competitions and allow RCT3's to enter in their own category? I might even make some videos. Only think about the coaster cam is it doesn't do them justice. I'm all like, I would ride that and then I see the peak lateral g's are in the 8's and I'm all like, huh, maybe not. Part of it is getting the banking right.
  3. Your killing me with no RCT3 man (its the only one I have). And excitement rating is a good pick for scoring. It's easy to build a pants shitting vomet-comet, but its a lot harder to make one that people will actually enjoy. Something I noticed, and I assume this can apply to the previous ones, is that sometimes if you slow down a roller coaster it goes from pants crapping instanity that would cause an average human to black out multiple times, to a super fun thrill ride (or at least it will change the ratings enough to get people to go on it).
  4. Pretty sure they have two bots, one that scans for names (not necessarily in game) and one that PMs. There are also ones that spam anyone who runs through crowded areas. This would be about right I think. Normally they trawl for names in popular fc's, or by running a bot through a crowded area like the GE, and then forward the list of names to other bots. At least I think they send it to other bots because that explains why you get spammed by a whole bunch in waves (all working off the same name finder).
  5. BXPW actually does require a server reset, it just happens days in advance. The relevant code is added in with a previous update, and programmed to go live at a certain time, and then deactivate again at a certain time. They could totally do something like that (the strange power and falling rocks are other examples), but if its more than a few second event, you would want to have extra staff around in case it messes up (BXPW is, or was, rather famous for this, and many of them have required the servers be restarted to update again shortly after the event went live to fix it). So still probably not going to be anything to ground breaking right away, though this approach does eliminate the need to down the servers during peak hours. Being logged in at this time would probably be a good idea, in case its like strange power.
  6. So the cities official position on the garbage that someone illegally dumped on my property is: That's your problem. So I can either camp out in my driveway and phone the police when I see it happening, or I can merge it into my waste. I also have a sneaking suspicion that a lot of whats in there isn't actually legal garbage (it either came from students which means it will have recycling in it as well, or it came from some scummy contractor doing work a couple houses down in which case its building material), just to make my day that much better. The other one I like is that if I don't run out the door right after our garbage gets collected, pedestrians like to dump their garbage in our cans, like coffee cups. Because I totally leave my garbage cans out at the curb as a service for you to dump your shit in as you walk by
  7. Hard to say. I don't know if the bad that has come from me playing the game really makes up for the good. I can't imagine not being a part of this community in particular, but RuneScape is also the only reason I can touch type (one day I just realized I didn't really need to look at the keyboard anymore), and that particular talent does make my life a lot easier. It will be a lot easier to say in a few years when I see where I end up in life.

Everyone keeps chat logs of everything. I think in most places, its even a legal requirement that logs be kept for some period of time in case the police want to use them in an investigation or as evidence. If you have stuff that you don't want FB knowing about, then you should probably be a whole lot more worried about what google knows about you by now. EDIT: Putting the compost out, and apparently some douche gave us 6 garbage bags to deal with (the legal limit here), which is awesome because as a house with 6 uni students, its not like don't produce a lot of garbage on our own, and we totally need people to give us theirs to help out. For bonus points, their heavy, and most of them are full. I'll deal with them tomorrow I guess, and we can probably take them since we rebag all our garbage into super sized contractor bags (the law determines how many bags, doesn't say a damn thing about how big they are), and we normally only use 3 of them. Still, we only have 3 garbage cans that can actually hold those bags, which means the rodents will probably get at them before garbage week rolls around again. I wish I new who gave us our gifts so I could take them up to my room and then drop them all on them out of my 3rd floor window.
  9. Jagex, where customer relations are our bottom priority  In all seriousness though, this is a pretty good move from a buisness standpoint. Plenty of other sites, including youtube, have already blazed the trail for doing this sort of thing on free services, and ads that you are forced to watch are going to make a lot more money than banner ads that can easily be blocked.
  10. That's because you are really there to get test scores, especially since school funding depends on it. Test scores are the only meaningful way schools have to judge you on how much you know, so their job is to make you do well on tests, not teach you. Awesome isn't it <_<
  11. Moved to Blogscape, which is where threads detailing your progress and goals belong :)
  12. What I am wondering is if it will even be content related at all (as in something added to the game). Given the name, and the time, I am thinking more along the lines of some sort of video or announcement (which actually fits the idea of introducing beta servers perfectly). Anyway, I think it will have to be something major that doesn't require an immediate game update to talk about. Why they would do a countdown to such a thing though is beyond me, unless they are trying to fool people into joining members for something that wont happen for another month.
  13. Keylogger that also makes a screenshot whenever you click. Since the other 9 numbers always show, you can deduce the pin. At least, that's what I can think of, no idea if this is the actual method used. But he said they deleted it, which shouldn't be possible in less than 72 hours... That's only if you don't know it though. I thought you could remove it instantly if you knew what it was (in fact I'm pretty sure I've done just that).
  14. You'll want to make a post in Account Help on the RSOF. It's recently become regularly staffed with jmods and has now transformed into the I've been Hijacked board. As for the bank pin, my understanding is that there is a program that can defeat in seconds, and there has been for a long time. I don't know what its callled, or how it works, but I've seen enough people have their bank pin cracked and their bank looted in a 3 minute hijacking to figure that someone has either figured out how to defeat it, or has a system for recording it. Whatever the case it seems to be about effective as a paper wall against some people.
  15. Ha, that was actually my original signature after I changed my avatar to Dogbert :D And thanks again to everyone who has posted here!

Doesn't look like a good break (I don't think impact fractures ever are). Not a nice clean snap, more of a grating and fragmenting. All in the lower leg though so it'll probably be fine after it heals. Sucks for him, hope it gets better soon with minimal pain.
  17. This. Unless they changed it, ignoring only works on one side, which is actually kind of terrible because it means someone can keep trying to talk to you and not know you've ignored them, because you still appear as online. Would be a nicer system if it just changed it to offline, and more useful for blocking the dedicated casual stalker from following you across worlds (that's dedicated enough to world hop, but not enough to use multiple accounts that the stalkee doesn't know about).

Edits are probably about the most annoying thing we can do for other people because its right there in front of you, taunting you and making you wonder what it used to say. Also, I never before noticed that our profiles show our true post count, including things like forum games. I don't post in those areas much so I'm only out by like 150, where about half of Vezon's are invisible. I've never been able to enjoy forum games for some reason, they just hold no interest for me. More focused towards the here and now, its the first weekend after the local exam season is done, and people outside are hilariously drunk. It's quite amusing right now, but it will get annoying when I go to sleep. Also, I am finally starting to learn how to sleep with a sleep mask on (I had to take it off for the first week I tried using it). I like to sleep with the TV on sometimes, so its actually kind of nice to have something that blocks that out. The weird part is that if I move my hand infront of my eyes with the mask on, I almost feel like I can see my hand, like you would in almost total blackout conditions (that slightly darker black on black). It's also nice because one of my curtains likes to not be flush against the wall, and lets the sun in, in a nice stripe right where my head is in the morning.

Today I noticed that my OT post count has finally beaten out General Discussion. This is now my home board through and through :)

  22. Hey, that's the graphics card my computer uses  You can get most of your computer specs by running the direct x diagnostic program. Just hit the windows hey and type in dxdiag, and hit enter once its found it (or if your not win7, use the run program to open it). Figureing out how much power you have to spare is tricky, because as far as I know computers don't track that. Normally you need to add up the power reqirements of everything in your computer. If you know roughly what your computer is made out of, you can use this online calculator to give you a rought estimate of how much power your computer uses. Sub in the part you want to add to get the power usage for your new build, and then look at your PSU to see if your computer is going to go kaput or not (should be written right on the PSU how much it can handle).
  23. Moved to help and advice, where RS questions go. It's a new feature in dungeoneering that holds all your keys, so they aren't clogging up your inventory. It also gives the entire team access to all the keys that have been picked up so that anyone can open the door, rather than needed a dedicated keyer.
  24. Honestly, I don't like it when Jagex does count downs. I don't think anything good has ever come from a countdown. At least this will roll out before I need to choose whether I still want to be a member or not. Beta test servers make the most sense out of everything I've heard so far, which really doesn't get me excited at all. The only way they could be more anti climatic would be a graphical rework, unless its so good that it knocks my socks off.

Really? I've yet to notice this, it just seems to me that OT has been getting pretty quiet over the course of the year. I'm not sure I follow either. I count 3 posts deleted from OT and its sub forums so far this month, and all of them were double posts.
