Things that annoy the HELL out of you.
I mean I am guilty of sometimes using the "I don't know? Can you?" line.

RuneScape Ads on UK TV
Do you really think so? The ad is just some pieces of combat jumbled together, which don't even really make sense to the viewer unless they know the original trailer (e.g. scene of ozan looking behind him, terrified - next thing we see is the Raptor attacking, so you'd assume he is the danger, yet it's actually the troll that you don't really see throughout the whole ad. I have no problem with the trailer being cinematic - but imo, it's just plain bad. Scenes cut together in a way that they seem to have almost no connection. You're right, all the ad has to do is to get people to the site - but will it do that? If you saw such an ad on the tv, would you visit the site? Especially considering that, unlike banner ads on the internet, it's not just a mouseclick away, but viewers have to remember the ad and find it interesting enough to visit the site possibly hours after they've seen the ad. I doubt this trailer can pull that off more than a few lucky times... In all honesty, if I had never heard of the game, and I saw that, I might be curious enough to go check it out. Then again, the only game with commercials here that I can remember is WoW, so its not like we are inundated with so many game ads that we just auto tune them.

Elder scrolls mmorpg
Oddly enough, we recently had a discussion about a Skyrim type mmo in one of the mod chats (with Mod Daezhun who is a huge moo person and all around awesome guy). The concensus from that was that while it would be really awesome to be able to be able to play co-op, it would make a very terrible mmo. I'll have to take a look at this later to see if it would actually make a nice mmo (because I assume they are going to restructure the game a bit to make it viable for this kind of game play). I guess what gets me is that asusming the other elder scrolls are at least similar in game play mechanics to Skyrim, they are really single player games, and a terrible platform for a multiplayer environment (beyond co-op play). The leveling system, and the quests would need to be reworked for sure.

I know someone who managed to get runes out twice, once trying (I think) and once on accident. If you try to take smuggled runes back in, the game takes them away and doesn't give you any points. Instead it gives you a message requesting that you send in a bug report to explain how you got the runes out.

Things that annoy the HELL out of you.
Out of curiosity, are you the person asking the second line, or do you want to slap the people who point out the gramatical error? One my Dad always used to do if we asked to see the juice is he would pick it up (normally off the floor because that's where the juice jug always ended up), and then put it back where it had been. I'm not sure when we started asking to see the juice instead of asking to have it (as in I don't know where that comes from), but it proved to be a light hearted way to correct us. And I'm one of those people who will use a question to point out when people mistake can and may.

RuneScape Ads on UK TV
I find the complaints about how unrealistic the ad is quite interesting. If honest advertisements worked, then people would actually use them. No one uses an honest advertisement, because they don't have too (in fact we reward the advertising industry for being misleading). All the TV ad has to do is get people to the site. That's it. End of story. All they have to do is throw something out there that will grab peoples interest enough to make them go to the runescape site and see whats up, so they are going to make an ad that is going to make as many people do this as possible. Once their on the site, its the websites job to get people into the game, and then its up to the game itself to keep people playing. My only gripe is that RuneScape really has one strength that no other game can match, and that's its quests. No other gaming company puts as much effort into their quests as Jagex does, and the result has been a few hundred quests that are actually interesting and creative, rather than the cookie cutter quests which make up every other game ever made. I wouldn't mind seeing a commercial that tried to focus a bit on that, though such an ad would also be longer and cost more. Anyway, I am satisfied with the ad because I'm sure it will do its job and pay for itself.

The Pirate Bay must be blocked by UK ISPs, court rules
I think we're more lax about it because the major record labels and movie houses aren't pushing as hard here as they are in the US. After all, we only have about 1/10 the population and a fair percentage of that lives outside of the major centers so they're less likely to have broadband internet. Actually, internet coverage in Canada is running circles around the states. A much higher percent of our population has broadband, and it tends to be better quality as well I think (because our providers are better regulated so that they can't screw you as much). I'm actually surprised that they don't try to put more pressure on us. You might have a point though since we have a very small population compared to a lot of other countries (35th in the world).

I'd like to take a second to point out that they (Quebec) have the lowest tuition fees in the country by far. They are like 66% of the fees here (we have the most expensive University here, but I don't go to that one). No sympathy for them whatsoever. Waaa, we will have to pay more than 2 grand a semester! Boo [bleep]ing hoo. Everyone else in Canada is closer to 3.5

SoF Feedback Response
Blah blah blah, faulty logic blah blah weasel word replacing inconvenient percentage blah blah blah. Not really mad though. This is exactly what I was expecting (actually I was expecting them to just ignore it, but this was my second guess). Just a tad insulted that they didn't put more effort into their propoganda though. Give us a little credit?

The Pirate Bay must be blocked by UK ISPs, court rules
I believe that downloading is legal in Canada, though uploading is still illegal. That's was my understanding as well, then I did some bouncing around on wikipedia. One article mentioned that it was legal to download copy protected files in Canada for non commercial use, and was only illegal to distribute them. Then the one on piracy in Canada seems to be implying that this only applies to music, and that the RCMP just don't enforce this law because they don't have the resources. So I'm wondering if we all just think its legal because its never enforced. Either way, we are a lot more lax about this in Canada than many other developed nations I think.

Wild Weekends
Should have held off on all the double spins I won last night, though to be fair two of them we're won off the first one. I wouldn't mind some horns or a tatoo.

03/05/12 - System Update - FPS Fix!
Right back to where I was when I first bought this computer (pre bot nuke), if not better. Constant 50 fps in the Runespan, down to maybe 44 when running. I was already generally high enough to not be an issue, but its nice that it never drops down to a visible frame rate any more. Now they just need to make it so that bloom doesn't turn AA off (or at least reduce it). Though I wonder if I would just have my GPU do the AA though its control panel and then set the game to bloom.

The Pirate Bay must be blocked by UK ISPs, court rules
The pirate bay isn't the only torrent site. I don't agree with calling it censorship though, since TPB exists purely to distribute copy protected material, which is illegal in the UK. That's not censorship, that's enforcement. EDIT2: Just going to remove everything else because now I'm confused. I can't tell if the downloading side of piracy actually isn't illegal in Canada, or if we just don't care (and by 'we' I mean the police and government).

Bonjour TipIt Utilisateurs
Hello, and welcome to the forums. If you like the visual arts you should take a wander down to the gallery section of the forums. Just so you know, I removed your colour tags since we only allow formatting (colour, underline, bold, etc) for emphasis. We have several different forum skins, so leaving it on the default makes sure that everyone can actually read what you type :) The rules can be found near the top right of any page, or here.

Personality type and how you play
The way I see it, the Myers Briggs test is a tool to help you understand yourself (and other people) better. It is general enough that there are variations within any type, but in the context on interests (I did mine as part of a career counseling function) it can help steer you towards things that might interest you. I am an INTP, with high bias for I and T (was closer to neutral for N and P). For me, I normally go for a fairly solitary play style, though in training environments where other people don't significantly impact on my xp rate I do enjoy having someone to talk to. I don't care much for efficiency. I normally aim for the highest xp rate that is easily obtainable, and if said rate is high enough, I tend to enjoy the skill, because I feel like I am making progress. In skills like combat, I am viciously isolationist though, and I picked my training spots based on the best xp rates I could get without constantly having someone else near my spot (settled on living rocks). If I don't have someone to talk to in the area, I chat with people in friends and clan chat.

Behind the Scenes - May
I hope they just make it work on both shields with the same kit. That would be the easist thing to do, and will probably upset the least number of people (because if you make two of them, the sq kit becomes worthless pretty fast and becomes another junk item from TT).

The Style Thread
Not exactly up on my sunglasses terminology, by my preference (especially for guys) is mirrored two lens wraparounds with a full frame. Not sure if that is even possible for prescriptions, but I find that style to not only look nice, but to be incredibly practical because they actually cover your eye in a way that very little light can get around them and into your eyes. These are mine, and no, I can assure you I am not in the picture (which was a problem I had a lot of fun solving seeing as I am essentially taking a picture of a convex mirror), but you can see a bit of the phone taking the picture:

I've removed the grammar fight from the thread. Please try to keep the thread on topic in the future, and if something comes up that is not on topic, rather than calling people stupid for half a page, please allow the thread to get back on topic so that posts don't have to be removed (and potentially warnings sent). If you want to debate the differences between American/Canadian/British or North American/European language, please take it to off topic.

Behind the Scenes - May
I am probably more excited at the prospect of being able to acquire a dragon kite (and complete my full set) at some point in the future than anything else (I'll wait fro a reasonable price though, which hopefully wont be too long since the DFS should still be better). I also wish Optimus had been announced, which would give me faith it was actually coming out this month. Ah well. And as always, a new quest is nice. Interested to see who this boss fight will be with, since I have no idea. Not exactly a super month though, at least not for me :P Oh, and of course the cryptic clue fest is always good.

What are you listening to right now!?
So I was watching the season 5 finale of American Dad, which has the song I Saw the Sign by Ace of Base in it, and decided to look them up (to hear the whole thing). Long story short, I really like their songs, but this one is my favourite. I love the piano playing in particular, makes it a very happy song which my library was sorely lacking. And right after it I'll be listening to this so I'l include it too (close second place from them): [hide] [/hide]

I'm wondering if the theory that an exposed core releases energy making more nodes wasn't correct. This world has it's exposed, and while you could argue there are more nodes than there should be, its not a node fest of unlimited every changing nodes like it was earlier. 3rd floor is definitely getting extras though.

Foound another world going to open its sphere. I want to see if nodes go wild again.
