3-Jan-2013 - God Statues: Construction D&D
Unknown_Warrior replied to Tim's topic in General Discussion
Logged in right at the best time. That is; right after the XP fix but before the global announcement that upon login statues will be reset. So I was able to do all 4 statues at the good XP value, hop lobby and back in and do it all over again! As such: 221,704 Construction experience and 129,032 Prayer experience. Thanks, Jagex! -
Is it worth actually buying the Sea Witch if you got 3 lifeboats active? I mean, her ability is quite awful, it's broken and it activates before the lifeboat does. Not to mention she's quite costly.

How does that work? It becomes a permanent boost? or only the next voyage? I was pretty sure those boosts only work for a single voyage. I pictured you talking like Jerry Seinfeld when reading this post :D Me too. Also, I'm pretty sure the black market guy is restocking twice a day now. Just me I guess? HLF found that the bottom three effects (Lifeboat, Spectacles, Fortune) seem to be permanent additions to a ship, while the previous four effects are expended after one voyage. These three work with each other but you can't stack multiple copies of each (e.g. 2x fortune) so it seems like it's intended. I've been saving all this slate for the office upgrade, but I must say it's now very tempting to do a Partner and upgrade the bar instead :s

Tips for those who will or have accessed the Scythe; focus your Cherrywood primarily on crew members. Ship upgrades become increasingly costlier and the boost is consistently less than before. The Hook was the tipping point. I know people were hardwired to focus on ship upgrades before, but they can't compare to new crewmembers in the Scythe. Also, I think the Rudder upgrade might be the most desirable of the ship upgrades this time around. Speed stats really start to matter from the tipping point, even in the Hook curretly I can shave off 45 mins of time by improving my speed. I'll run some calculations in how Speed affects the average time.

99 SLAYER AND SUMMONING Second and third 99. It trimmed my Runecraft cape from November 2011.... or did it? Slay hood + untrimmed RC cape -
Any that were, were some time in the past forcefully removed and put in the new tutorial. Speaking from experience.

I did. Is it just the timer going erratic or does it also affect fail/win rate?

The Hook's Siren/Cyclops

Oh herro Combat crew

Done for today

This fits in nicely with the ongoing discussion, which of these two to pick: I'm leaning towards the story one.
-
random has a chance to appear after any completed voyage, don't forget to check after your ships are debriefed you can increase chances of randoms by building certain totems Or crew with the 'Good Fortune' trait.

No option to name my ship The Salty Spitoon, The Ugly Barnacle nor The Krusty Krab. Jagex, if you're gonna shoehorn in a kids show, at least pick a show that's relevant to the sea. :(

20-Nov-2012 - Evolution of Combat: Now Live!
Unknown_Warrior replied to Randox's topic in General Discussion
No, it's certainly better in those situations (monster weakness: melee) but it can outperform Ranged and Mage as well on tasks that are magic and melee based respectively. Well, certainly on the melee monsters, anyway. Which kind of goes against everything the EoC stood for. -
04-12-12 - The Brink of Extinction - Grandmaster Quest
Unknown_Warrior replied to Octarine's topic in General Discussion
Is it even longswords? You would think they would as least use dragon. Or are they using just normal rune swords? Well they ARE posting the absolute best gear you can get without ANY skill and/or quest requirements other than combat and oodles of GP. However unlikely that scenario is. Also, I think Jagex is about the only one still getting a hard-on from dual wielding. Have they not realised they made that absolute shite for anything with even remotely decent defences? -
If you bring a wand and shield it's probably very doable. The Xil's are the minority, after all. If you ability spam, you'd probably not even use up 2k water runes.

So I still have my reset from last time, any consensus on what're the best styles these days?

Oh wow, I checked the examines on these items: Backpack: "Ridiculously overpowered!" Gloves: "I preferred the alpha scientist gloves." Shoes: "Wrecks the economy!" Head: "Totally unbalanced!" Torso: "All I wanted was the moon on a stick but all I got was this torso!" Legs: "Seriously, who tested this?" Oh Jagex. +1- 646 replies

20-Nov-2012 - Evolution of Combat: Now Live!
Unknown_Warrior replied to Randox's topic in General Discussion
I'm frustrated. Today, all I wanted to do were my weeklies and dailies (JoT, Jade Vine, ToG and Skeletal Horror) but all I did was getting riled up. I had no clue whether or not my gear would still work. This was a continuation of yesterday's ire where I found out to my dismay that my daily Bork trip would either be significantly harder or significantly changed. The changed prayers worked just as awfully as I had feared, meaning the Dagon'hai mage could continuously do rather significant amounts of damage on my sorry ass, and the method of combat I used up until EoC was safespot Ranging, which I could usually do without eating food, but now Bork's minions had significantly more accuracy and damage potential. I was getting bent over like a out-of-place rusty nail sticking out of a beam. I knew something was up beforehand because I was getting piled and rather severely damaged by a group of aggressive Earth Warriors. Ranged also did pitiful amounts of damage on Bork and my adrenaline didn't rise fast enough to do any decent damage (especially not since I was forced to eat), and I wasn't able to look-up Bork's weakness beforehand because it wasn't posted anywhere yet (it's Crush, by the way) so I just had to wing it. Unsuccessfully. I had to teleport out of the cave having used up all my food. But I digress, today I didn't want to suffer the same fate. So I looked up what the Horror was weak to. Nothing had been updated either. I tried to look up whether my Goliath gloves still functioned as crush weapon. Nothing had been updated about it yet. For [bleep]'s sake, I was frankly tired of this bullshit. I just want to kill things. I don't want to make several new items, I don't want to spend millions getting new gear, I don't wanna spend more hours Dungeoneering for decent gear, I don't want to personally look up all weaknesses for my future fist-recipients. I just wanna kill. This is an escalation of the feeling I had yesterday when I was tasked to kill Abyssal demons. I could honestly say that the annoyance of having to do research beforehand and regearing was not made up by the improved killspeed. Which had me yesterday closing my Runescape tab faster than I usually do, I did not heed much attention to it but it became clear to me when I closed my RS tab today after I found myself getting severely pissed off. People may say that finding new ways of combat is a fun experience (I found it wasn't), that the ability is an improvement over the game before (I didn't feel all that thrilled by it) and the new ways of chatting would grow on me (I'm still severely annoyed by this). People say that it has only been a day and I should give Jagex time (but I honestly shouldn't, they felt it was "good enough" to be released the 20th). Prior to this I was lukewarm to the EoC, I noticed the potential for greatness and the need to give all combat styles more exposure, but I didn't like that it was replaced by ability spamming. A day since its inception and I found I just don't like it. After having closed my tab, I was contemplating whether or not to simply end my subscription now. I've spent way more time on this game than I should've and I seriously felt like this might be the ideal time to end. People might say this is more engaging combat, but if this is the way Jagex wants to "evolve" the game, I'm not sure if I want to be part of it. [/rant] -
