  1. As much as I dislike the choice of Dark Bows (the ONE item on that list I did not own, and not planning to), I think you people are mistakingly assuming 18,000+ people voted on it for merchanting reasons. It's a case of familiarity. Simple as that. The list was comprised of relatively obscure items, and Dark Bow stood out as the "thing everyone knows". It's why they picked it. It's also often the reason when people tend vote Combat as favourite past-time, Castle Wars as favourite minigame and Melee/Slayer as favourite skill. It's not always that they like these absolutely the best, it's because they're the first to pop to mind. All I wish was that Jagex would extend to the top three rather than just #1, I can't imagine recolouring to require TOO much effort (nothing that can be equalled to reimagining the TzHaar race, anyway). Oh well.
  2. I'm almost willing to bet my life this will involve Dragonkin. Look just north of the new land. The unnamed ruins sticking out have a spirit portal (Jennica's ring). Which, when entered, shows the Dragonkin symbol. It's not too far-fetched to relate this. What it will be? Will it be tied to the new Grandmaster quest and the Mahjarrat ritual, a precursor quest to said Grandmaster to give more insight to the 'kin? New explorable area, new boss, all possible. I sincerely doubt this will have anything to do with the new skill. Wouldn't it be kind of sadistic to situate the main place of training for a new skill in the Wilderness? Granted, no more PKers, but I don't think people would feel comfortable being maimed by annoying Revenants each time they want to get some new experience. Nothing suggests the new content will be F2P-also, even though they experienced the strange power or can see the new area. I got my letter from the Armadyl Communiqué in F2P also, and I can assure you that the content it was tied to was FAR from F2P-material (but not less epic).
  3. Indeed, mousekeys are for depositing runes and withdrawing Essence. I use them, and it really helps (also a lot less screw-ups).
  4. You could always consider doing Great Orb Project, seeing you're not quite there on the scale of "big moneymaking" regarding Runecrafting.
  5. For your information, RS Wiki has a list of the best bonuses for each individual stat, including Prayer. Right here
  6. Yeah, it's been promised that smithing will have a large update in the near future. But for all we know it could be a new training method that causes prices to plummet. In regards to your question, I believe addy plates are the most commonly used high-level traning method. That and maybe bolt tips? I seriously doubt that. One of the main criticisms of Smithing was that it was totally outdated. "Improving" a dated skill doesn't just mean making more methods to train it. But yeah, I'm also well considering buying Adamant bars now before it's too late.
  7. Well if I adopt that mentality, I might just as well stop slaying altogether. But thanks, I'll keep that in mind for the current task.
  8. You can set up the cannon in Waterfall dungeon, but only if you make sure you aren't getting hit.
  9. Still, that's about as good as it gets. Only solo kills are counted - and even then only for a few monsters.
  10. You've never went? By the way, you have better than stats than is required for TD (far better, in fact). Your ranged is also decent enough to EASILY pull of solo kills. I mean, I can solo and I have half what you have.
  11. Because there's been an even higher influx of coins. Almost everything has inflated to near-insane amounts.
  12. Ideological reasons. I absolutely refuse to train Attack and Strength (though this can vary, I recently trained my Strength from 72 to 75 for Blood Runs Deep). It's akin to pure skillers, only I'm not as pure. :P
  13. Alright then. What would be a better alternative to spend 3x charms on? Keep in mind I will NEVER take off the Defensive option for melee.
  14. Well it's the only attack style I'll tolerate when meleeing. I've used it on everything I've meleed, including bosses.
  15. Expect those are both very slow at waterfiends. Honestly you'd be much better off not using the 40 minute triple charms or double w/e it is and saving it for a task that's faster to kill at your stats with a better weapon and still drops lots of crimson charms. Maybe something like dust devils so you can use a whip. Well, they're only one class slower than both SS and ZS and do have +20 crush more. Oh well, my last option I'll try: Could it be considered if I had extreme attack and strength potions?
  16. Then skip them. Your melee stats are so low that it would be a waste of time even with the optimal weapon choice (and there are only 2, SS and ZS). That's an extreme measure to take, no?
  17. It's the best actually but only with very high stats and the best gear otherwise go to the whirlpool it's not bad. What would the best gear be? Aside from the obvious weaponry like Zamorakian spear and Saradomin sword.
  18. I was wondering, since the Chaos tunnels' monsters have higher charm drop rate and allow for combat familiars, to take it there. Is it worth considering?
  19. It's not so much budget principle as it is an ideological one. I'm willing to spend a few million gold on this task if that's what it takes to speed it up. I was thinking using Corrupt Statius' warhammer, but considering they're 2.6M, that would 7.8M total fo 45 minutes. I am willing to sacrifice something, but that's just a bridge too far.
  20. Helm of Neitiznot? How about the slayer helm?
  21. So, I have my first Waterfiend task ever (well, the first I didn't skip...) and I'm wondering on how to address this. I want to try the new D&D (Familiarisation) and I've heard of the triple charms being good at Waterfiends, so I want to try it out. Thing is, though, that my melee stats are quite abysmal and this is seemingly the recommended method. So I'm wondering: how can I maximise the number of kills in 40 minutes considering my stats? My levels are: 75 Attack 75 Strength 93 Defence 89 Hitpoints 91 Ranged 88 Magic 78 Prayer 80 Summoning Also, for principle reasons, I absolutely refuse to train Attack or Strength. That means I will not use the secondary attack style of Godswords, Saradomin swords, Zamorak spears and the like. Of course, if I get to Range, all the better. I have a full Slayer helmet, so any attack style is good.
  22. Just so you know, Hellhounds and Blue Dragons both have safespots (I'd screenshot where to stand, but I can't enter her dungeon at the moment), so tanking won't be necessary for those. Focus on maximising your Ranged offence instead (use Focus Sight/Full slayer helmet and Ferocious ring if you have them). Hellhounds is right behind the small stalagmite that leads to the lvl 90 agility shortcut, the Blue dragon safespot is at the east wall, where you are squeezed between the stalagmites and the eastern wall, the southern tile of the two will make it that no Blue dragon can reach you. Have fun.
  23. Got any recommendation for a grimy herb that is relatively easy to buy and relatively easy to sell clean? I don't want to buya grimy herb and see it crash - losing me more money than I would if I just made potions.
  24. This. There's a convenient safespot on the east wall in the middle of the room. 2 squares that squeeze you between the stalagmites and the wall. If you stand on the southern one (of the two squares), no dragon will be able to get to you. Bring a BoB (preferably a War Tortoise or Pack Yak) and kill away. I could fill my and my BoB's inventory 3x before it died due to counter. I used 3 Tortoises in total for 165 blue dragons, which boils down to about 1.2M in loot just from the 100% drops. Not to mention the charms, Ferocious rings and Clue Scrolls you might get along the way.
