  1. Not true for both statements, and this is coming from an owner of an X2 555 and GTX 460.
  2. Not exactly. Samsung Spinpoints are more reliable in terms of read/write speed, heat, and noise. The only advantage the Caviars have (Black, not Blue like you posted ;)) is slightly lower latency and more cache. They also tend to have a lower failure rate than Caviars. Not to mention they're usually cheaper (I got one just a month or so ago for $60.) Still, it's worth shelling out the $75 for.
  3. Budget is $800, eh? Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB - $75 Mushkin Enhanced DDR3-1333 4GB - $67 Cooler Master Silent Pro 600W & HAF 912 combo - $110 Gigabyte GTX 460 1GB & Gigabyte GA-P55-USB3 - $314 Core i5-750 (quad) & Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 - $221 Grand total: $788. Shipping ends up being around $5 and there may be taxes. Take the DVD drive from your current PC and put it into this one. Also, the cooler that comes with the combo isn't the best, but unless you're trying to break world records on overclocks you should be fine.
  4. Nonetheless, the cards I posted above should suit OP pretty well.
  5. The battery probably isn't dead, seeing as CMOS batteries last up to a decade.
  6. Chances are since you have a HP computer, the motherboard inside only has a PCIe 1.0 or 1.1 slot. Most if not all graphics cards today are on the PCIe 2.0 specification in order to prevent bottlenecks. Fortunately, MW2 isn't that demanding of a game at all, so you'll be able to get away with a mid-end card. Edit: HD 5670. $80 GTS 250. $100 GTS 450. $130 HD 5770. $140 Pick which one fits your price range best.
  7. ASUS, P8700 (Equivalent to E8500 IIRC) 6GB of RAM, GTX 260M, 17.1" LCD, 500GB HDD. Recertified. $689. I'd get it myself if I needed a laptop. Grab it while it's still there.
  8. Pain doesn't cause you to pass out. It causes you to stay even more awake/alert. Yawn.
  9. Also, remember when the Dharma guy was called into the mine in order to investigate the drills melting? One of the workers had collapsed, looking dead, with the same nosebleed as Charlotte at the end of the episode "Jughead."
  10. [hide=SPOLERS]At the end of the season, everyone travels back in time to 5 seconds before Jughead explodes. Everyone dies.[/hide]
  11. Just started getting into it. Good stuff. Anyone else enjoy it?
  12. Well, I have a Gigabyte board with a 770 chipset that does NOT support DDR3.. So I guess it would be pointless to wait for the AM3 CPUs. The price is looking just right.
  13. I wouldn't recommend switching out hard drives. Especially if it's an older PC that utilizes IDE technology. Messing with jumpers when you have no idea what you're doing is a big no-no.
  14. Hey, so would I. Intel processors are fantastic. I just don't want to spend the money on a new motherboard (as these run exclusively on the AM2+ socket, and the later AM3 CPUs will work on AM2+ also)
  15. Review: http://www.pcgameshardware.com/aid,6699 ... enchmarks/ Prices: X4 920, 2.8GHz - $235 X4 940, 3.0GHz - $275 They're releasing on January 8th. The NDA is supposed to end tomorrow. Oh man; do want. Supposedly these are supposed to overclock like beasts (AMD managed to get it stable 6.0 with LN2, but expect 4-5 GHz range with water, and 3-4 with a good air cooling solution.) I'll definitely be picking up a 920.
  16. An 8800/9800 GT or 4670/4830/4850 will destroy 7900GTs in SLI.
  17. If anything, go with a Q9450 as LP said or a Q9550. Don't go with the Corsair Dominator, if you're willing to spend that much on RAM, get some Crucial Ballistix. 1000W is overkill, especially if you're not planning to go SLI.
  18. Lrn2google ffs. http://images.google.com/images?q=fresh ... a=N&tab=wi
