  1. Armadyl plate + legs are +5 more range bonus then black d hide. Not going to make even a noticable difference in training. Void range could possibly give a very small XP boost for training on monsters like yaks, but the actual boost would be under 10%, and the overall XP boost would probably be less then if you just spent your PC points on range. I really can't see a use for void melee after 99; you are rarely killing low defence monsters. Oh, and the XP rates for chins with void and d hide are within 1k for each other.
  2. It IS an easy skill. 100m or whatever isn't that much... GWD and merchenting have made money into a much smaller issue then people pretend it is. At this point, I don't even monitor my cash inflow\output, and I'm not saving for anything... I just merchant every now and then and let it sink into the black hole of my bank, which is expanding at a rate of several mill per week, despite my spending plenty on prayer and other skills. And clicks? I dunno about you, but according to WhatPulse, I'm well over 4 million clicks on my laptop alone, and 100k+ in the past 5 days (NOT including playing runescape). So really, 200k clicks isn't that many. As for XP rates, it is one of the best, if not THE best - dragon bones are over 200k XP\hour, and the best bones offer 450k+; 500k+ is possible. Yeah, you'll pay through the nose for them, but the number of clicks drops even lower then. It really isn't that hard of a skill; I could get 99 in under a week playing just a few hours a day, and in a single day if I no lifed. Not that impressive, considering that a level 3 can go from 1-99 in just over a day. Yeah, it costs a lot, but compare it with, say, summoning - easily 3 times the cost for a fast method, and even then it takes much, much longer. Experience rates for summoning are around 30-40k an hour, at a cost well north of 1m an hour. Kill, say, waterfiends, and you still lose around 70m while getting ~20k XP an hour. Now look at prayer, with the 'cheap' method costing 90m for 200k XP\hour, and the 'expensive' method costing around 300m, at a rate of 500k XP\hour... over 10 times as fast as summoning. And slayer\mining is even more difficult.
  3. Nope, it appears to count as a magic holding spell also - if someone freezes an opponent, and then you spec him while he's froze\within 2 seconds of being unfrozen, he will only last as long as the first spell was, not the 20 seconds of ZGS. I found that out the hard way; a flagholder was running and frozen by a blitz, and just before he was unfrozen, I specced and hit - then a second later he ran off. I've had quite a few examples of it, so I'm fairly sure, even though I haven't done detailed testing.
  4. It is unlikley to help, and do NOT flash it if the computer is frequently crashing\shutting down. If it crashes in the middle of an update, you will have some SERIOUS problems, ranging from having to change from jumpers (if you have a dual bios) to replacing your motherboard. It sounds very much like a thermal event; something such as a CPU\GPU overheating cannot necessarily be felt by touching the case. Make sure all your fans are spinning, clear of dust and other blockages, and that there is plenty of space between the outside of the fans and your desk\wall. Try running some sort of graphics card (aquabench works) and CPU (Prime95 works) stressing program to see if the computer overheats faster. Obviously maintaining an up to date antivirus scanner is a good idea; the 70% CPU usage is a sign of something running in the background sucking up resources. This could be aggravating an overheating problem, or an inherently bad cooling system (although unlikely). Possibly talk to your computer manufacture, and see if they can solve the problem if you cannot. Heh, it doesn't take long to update the BIOS. I have a question for you. How much have your worked with computers? Also i said to clean the fans above. You might want to watch what useless information you put out there first. Yes a BIOS update can mess it up if it isn't flashed right. This does help to get your BIOS up to date to work with the latest drivers. If you are a computer consultant in real life i will be sure to never ask you for advice. Ever since windows came out, I mostly specialize in Microsoft. Personal arguments being over, I'll continue on with the rest of your post. Is a bios update likely to solve a recent problem? No. Is the computer likely to be trashed if it fails? Yes. Will it fail if the computer crashes while it is being flashed? More then likely. I've flashed BIOSes dozens, if not hundreds of times, and the likelihood that it will help a new problem is very low, and CERTAINLY not worth the risk of bricking the motherboard. I was suggesting the fans as part of an overall solution, exactly the same as I would to a client, regardless of what he was advised before. BIOS are updated for two reasons - adding new features that you need, or solving existing conflicts. The fact that his problem seems to have appeared recently (surely he hasn't been having it for two years now!) indicates that flashing the BIOS would NOT help, and is a VERY bad idea when the computer is constantly crashing. Replacing the motherboard in a laptop is time consuming and expensive if you do it yourself, and VERY expensive if you hire someone for it. If the motherboard is specialized, it may not at all. Is a tiny chance at fixing your computer worth the very real possibility of having to replace it, or pay 300-500+ dollars to repair it? Giving out worthless advice is one thing, giving out advice that could easily destroy the client's computer is another thing entirely. Try all the other fixes recommended, and talk to the manufacture (especially if it is still under warranty). Flashing this BIOS in this situation is a very last resort. It would help if you provided some more detailed information (how recently the problem came up, how often it happens, what are you doing when it happens, what have you done to try and fix it etc.) Okay.. Let's see. It started about 3 months ago, less than once a week. The computer would beep at me, and blackscreen instantly. Pretty much the only thing I've been doing when this happens is playing Runescape, which is a moderate load on my cpu. (Usually it runs at about 80% while playing). I'm not really sure they're connected, because playing Runescape is one of the few things I do on my laptop. ;) I've tried multiple times to revive it from this state, but nothing has worked. Ctrl-Alt-Dlt: Nothing. Alt-Esc: Nothing. Closing + Repoening: Nothing. Trying to turn off or possibly restart using power button: Nothing. Unplugging all peripherals: Nothing. 2 weeks ago it was left on in this state. When I found it like this, it was making a soft, repetitive noise that I couldn't really trace, but with some certainty decided it was coming out of the speakers. None of the above mentioned techniques worked here either. I took the battery out and restarted. The fan sped all the way up (I've never heard it go anywhere close to that fast) and the resting cpu usage was constantly around 70%. I looked at all the processes, but nothing was out of line. It was just system processes taking up more cpu than normal. I ran a full system scan using Norton Antivirus, and that came up with absolutely nothing. I ran the boot menu diagnostics, and they gave the results mentioned in my OP several times. I tried using the system restore to set the disk back to 2 weeks before this started happening, but it had no effect. *Phew* Hope that helps  Thanks for responding to my pm :) [/hide] No problem, I enjoy computer problems : Anyway, that does help a lot. First of all, try scanning with another scanner that detects more; earlier versions of Norton do not detect spyware. Try Spybot Search & Destroy (safer-networking.org), Ad Aware 2008 Free Edition (lavasoft.com), and last but not least AVG Free 8.0 (free.grisoft.com). I would recommend uninstalling Norton, install AVG, updating it, then running a full scan in safe mode. If you would prefer to leave Norton installed, do not install AVG and use the other two instead. The three of those should show up any spyware. Have you contacted the manufacture, and is the computer under warranty? Where\who did you get it from? I would recommend using Avira instead of AVG, since AVG has gone downhill quite a lot lately, i've seen a few computers having viruses I removed using Kaspersky, and one of those computers was almost completely disabled because of the viruses and spyware there were on there. Also, removing Norton is a very good idea, it will already free up quite a bit of ram and cpu. I know I said Kaspersky in the other paragraph, but Kaspersky only has a one month free trial, but I strongly recommend it, or NOD32. I'm not sure what you mean by downhill; I've had nothing but good luck running it, and it gets good marks in ICSA Labs. I just would rather he got a free one then a paid one, and AVG is superior to Avast! But yes, removing Norton should help free up quite a bit of processing power - in tests done a year or so ago by PC World, Norton dragged with WorldBench score down by a good 10%, while AVG only reduced it by 2%, 1/5th as much. As this was done on a high end computer, it would be more pronounced on a mid range laptop. Regardless of what AV program you replace it with, ditch Norton. And don't believe the advertisements; look up reviews at pcworld.com or pcmag.com, two of the leading technology magazines with websites that anyone can view.
  5. OK, if they don't, contact dell. Their online chat is actually fairly helpful, as it allows you to easily multitask while calling them. Despite some horror stories, I've found them very helpful - in one case, the rep called me back several times when we were disconnected, and gave me his email address so that I could contact him easily to work on the issue. Talk to Dell, although it is somewhat likely that they will ask you to flash the BIOS; they have several times in the past for me. Make sure they know the crashing problem first; that way if anything goes wrong, its their fault for telling you to, as all conversations are recorded and copies are sent to your email address.
  6. It cannot be lent. : It is good for meleeing dragons, looking good, and ranging\maging while being hit with melee\range. It is good for NOTHING else. Slayer is a horrible idea, a defender results in far less zeros regardless of your attack level. And if your fighting low level creatures that you hit anyway, you don't need the defence. Meleeing with it in any situation besides dragons is a fail, especially in PVP (where I see it used most). And yes, I've used one for months, and loved it. It is great for ranging and maging in fight pits\castle wars, but that's the only real use.

  10. That outfit is bad, unless its different at very low magic levels. I wear full guthans with -60something magic, and splash once or twice every round. Oh, and use salamander... Much cheaper then slayer dart, maxes 24s at 99 magic, and takes up no inventory space. Queltar's is the only truly helpful barrows guide I've ever read...

my system config meets the minimum config status via low detail mate.. so that's not the issue now.. well they could perhaps relate back to the player what has been done with regards to the complaint logged. If my system that is able to meet the minimum system config, i am sure there are players out there having the same lag issue.. I don't think you could boot up if you didn't meet the minimum stats, my 6 year old desktop has 4x everything, and my new desktop, well... the memory card is around 15 times, the ram 32, the CPU 12x, etc. etc. etc. Even my ancient (10 months old) laptop has at least 8x all the reqs. Even a stone-age computer that "meets" the "requirements" can still run it, but might lag considerably when asked to do anything else.
  12. 1800 High Level Alch's per hour would be faster than clicking when you could, perfectly, every time.. :? It's been accepted that the average person can alch around 1k items per hour.. And a range of +/- ~200 depending on how hard you concentrate, or how much you slack off. 1k an hour is very high, few will reach that point. I've been unable to track down the exact alch speed, but I believe it is very close to 2.95 seconds per alch, meaning a (theoretical) max of 1.2k. In reality, you will never be able to come close to that. I'd be willing to bet that no one has ever gotten 1150, and even 1.1k is virtually unattainable.
  13. [hide=Argument against Hemen] What are you talking about? First you say you agree with me that Jagex can't do anything to combat lag - full world lag is the only real lag they can be responsible for, and that only lasts for 1-2 seconds and is very, very infrequent (the last time I was on a world that did that, it was several months ago). So unless the membership price jumps 400$ so Jagex can run a dedicated fiber optic line to your house, they can't do a whole lot. Ok, point by point. Your ranting about what they should change about gravestones - what, exactly, IS your proposed solution? We've already agreed that making graves last forever while logged out (or even an hour) is an impossibility, as a player could simply log on to another account to bless it. You ask "how", as if you had no solution to this yourself, then brought up a random point about them getting rid of RWT - what's that got to do with fixing lag and logging out with gravestones? You named two games with death systems that you didn't like, what about one that you do? Ok, so the point of this rant is to complain about the internet and how it occasionally pauses for a second, then you neatly shift the blame to Jagex, whos servers run very well and very rarely lag, and want them to do something about the 40+ other servers that could cause lag between you and Jagex, on which your Runescape traffic travels. And you talk about them changing gravestones, but do not have any solution or clear point, besides a possible glitch which you encountered. Wait... So your saying Jagex should make a rule against dying to lag? What? :|[/hide] Yeah, I hate it when people don't read through a thread before posting :wall:
  14. Yeah, I'm proud to say that I've read EVERY page in their at least twice, some of them 10+ times. Obviously no one else does; aside from money related questions, 90% of the H&A forum is covered in it. And a certain development diary basically invalidates quite a few rants in here...
  15. He's said nothing about lootshare, he's talking about how he never gets any decent monster drops. He can't kill bosses, so lootshare doesn't affect him. It means your friend missed out on a lot of drops before, meaning she has high lootshare points, and you have very little. Yours has now rose, and you will receive more drops then someone with 0 points. It works out... (Does anyone read the KB o.O)
  16. Wait... Are you cursing your bad luck at Tzhaar, the fact that someone else got one before you, or that you can't kill a boss with almost straight 99s? If its bad luck at tzhaar, I feel for ya. If someone else got a drop faster then you, well.... Not really significant, it all balances out. (using someone elses example), if you flipped a penny 3 times and it landed heads up every time, does that mean someone else can't come and flip tails on the first try? No, you can only tell probability when your sample size is big enough, in this case at least several dozen flips. And that's for an item with a 50/50 chance! (Ok, I lied. Its somewhere in the neighborhood of %.05 more likely to land on heads, due to the extra weight of Lincon's head and the distance it sticks out compared to the building on the back). If you can't kill a boss, go in a big team until you get the hang of it. (Oh, and I won't post a bunch of drops, but I'm betting at least 3 other people will. Possibly me if I find any good ones (who wants to see a 29m hilt split :wall: ).
  17. But how would they keep grave stones from being affected by lag? The overall lag is more then likely not all Jagex's fault - they can't control everything between your computer and theirs. The massive, worldwide hiccups which happen once every couple of weeks are their fault (i.e. when you lag and come back to find everyone else saying lagggg). Other then that, chances are its beyond their control - they can't police the internet, or lay fiber cable to each customers house. The subscription rates might rise substantially if a dedicated T1 line was run to every players house. I just can't seem to understand the problem your ranting about, or how to fix it. Obviously having them pause when you log out is a terrible idea; jump on your "other" account, run over to the grave, multi log, bless. Anyone would take the risk if confronted with the thought of losing 10M - underground guides would spring up for those who didn't know how to multi log, and it would generally be a mess with no one losing their items, ever.
  18. Glitch? Went too fast? Died somewhere without gravestones? Accidentally hopped worlds?
  19. Correct. You can even hop worlds, and your grave will still stay. So that invalidates the majority of the posts on the rant :|
  20. What difference of hiring a friend to go bless your grave while you logged out, and having a friend before you do something dangerous? They both do same thing, and i am 90% sure that everyone who's first time at a dangerous situations asks for a friend to be around, so he or she can bless his grave if death occours. So i don't think it will matter much... + Time is money/lvls: have you ever though of that? Players who ask others to bless their graves while they are logged out isen't exactly that easy to get. Players: rather wanna do their stuff, sure they can help a friend. But i doubt people will keep doing this all the time... Also Lagg occouring: is not something we players can do about... Getting a friend to come, say, in the next 10 hours (viable if your stuff is valuble and you wern't planning to be on anyway is MUCH more important, and in the case of popular places like Bandos, offering a reward could easily result in a new buisness of sorts. Even logging off after dying and logging in for 30 seconds every, say, half hour would likely result in a team that happened to take over the world blessing it. Having gravestones timers suspend when you log out is a very bad idea. You could just as easily get on another account, run to where your grave is, double log, bless it etc... Far to much potential for abuse. As for lag, that's more of a widespread issue then one having to do with gravestones... Of course you may die if you lag at the wrong time, but logging in doesn't take that long and will rarely affect the issue of getting your grave back. Certainly better then always being able to recover your items easily. You could turn this into a general rant about lag, but I don't see how its the gravestones fault.
  21. All combat purposes? No... Ice blitz + AGS spec is THE most effective combo I've ever seen (I've personally hit a 26-73), and is even better when combined with vengeance or a granite maul on low defence players. According to Muggi, an ice blitz + shadow barrage works well, but I havn't had as good of luck with it.
  22. They stay for 5 minutes when you die\60 minutes when blessed. Period. Regardless of logging out. I've came back to a gravestone after nearly 40 minutes (which had over 10m, BTW), and although there was no grave all my items were on the ground. The timer should NOT suspend when you log out; you could log out when you die, hire a friend to go to the exact spot where the grave is, log in and have him bless it. Since any spot in runescape can be reached in under an hour if you can pause time, that means you will never ever lose your stuff. No thanks. :wall:
  23. The max hits are useful, but the "subjective" opinions are not. Do tests with at least 1k, use rapid like most people do, and record each hit instead of saying "I usually hit XX or higher". At the very least, record the hits-to-misses ratios for different monsters with a larger sample. Interesting data, though.
  24. There's what, under 50 items not valued correctly? And thousands that are? I'm not that worried; anyway, most of the incorrectly valued are very expensive, and only because they are rare.
  25. Unlikely - you can't really tell that rare of a drop with 500 kills. (Case in point - I've gone 800 Zilyana kills without a single drop, then 3 sara swords and a hilt in 70 kills. I'm done with GWD :wall: . How about 2 hilts and 1 plate in a single bandos trip, then nothing for the next 9, all with 70+ kills?)
