    Live Concerts

Hope there's a good audience :P Saw Apocalyptica at Tuska in 2005 and that was one of my most breath taking gig memories. It just felt so unreal when thousands, maybe tens of thousands (33k people at festivals, if my memory serves me right there was some nonamers on the other stages and it was sold out) singing along when they played Metallica covers. It just felt so unreal to hear it and be in the middle of the singing audience.
  2. I'd say both "useless" and "key contributor" as an exaggeration. It's definately useless from the marketing point of view. As for "key contributor" I'd say the key contributor actually are the other players and their passive marketing of the p2p. I'd also like to point out that the addons to f2p are usually more like ways to please the current f2pers, not ways to get more members. And what do you base this on? You are getting what you're deserving: for the cost of seeing adds you are getting a game to play. I'd say that an average f2per is pretty much a break even or even a small loss for Jagex: you take up server space, you waste customer support's efford and so on. If p2p wasn't the real money maker, why would Jagex have it in the first place? P2P creates the main profit for Jagex while f2p is just a way to get more people there. A simple way to figure this out: if an f2p player created more money, it would mean p2p isn't worth keeping OR p2p should keep the adds too. If they were even close to each other, it would mean that p2p shouldn't get this many updates due the fact that new members wouldn't bring that much money anyways that the updates were worth the wasted salary and other nice costs. You f2pers are here only because having a free largely playable version is the best marketing way for Jagex to get p2p members. There's loads of ways of paying it. I personally don't believe anyone over the age of 13 could find p2p "unreachable" if they really tried for it. There's even pay-by-phone which works with prepaid phones: you can buy one even without your parents knowing and never figuring out! Got no money? well, making that money shouldn't take more than few days if you're dedicated. No matter where you lived. It's about dedication and the will to sacrifice your time, efford and thus money same time in order to get what you want. I personally give huge respect for those f2pers who have decided to stay there for some personal motives. A perfect example is Forsakenmage. However for people like you, I'd just say "buy it or stop complaining." What you're saying is that "I don't want to work for it but I want these benefits!". We, my comrade, live in a capitalist state. Here you either work for the things you want or you get what's given.
  3. Let's see... 1) You're claiming you're 18+, yet your spelling is horrible. 2) You seem to have no self control. That's not really what I'd call mature. 3) If your bench record is lbs, you gotta either train at the wrong place or got wrong image of of strong. I could actually care about it if you were around 16. Btw, bench is one horrible way to measure strength or try to prove something, true men squat :P 4) Why to make so big issue about drinking? Sounds like once again some kid has been drunk from 1½ ciders. 5) If you're so proud about driving fast cars and you got this much respect towards rules, I definately hope you at least can be more mature while you're driving. Not because I'd care at all about you but because even one victim of a stupid driver (what else can you call a speed freak who satisfies his wills at public streets?) is too much. 6) I couldn't care less what could you do with my butt irl as long as you keep in your mind that it's exit only model. However I find it funny how you're trying to tell us after that story that we shouldn't think stereotypically because you could at least try to kick some butts. A comment like that can't be taken seriously and it infact made me write this post.
  4. Few things I've managed to pick up from Russian sources. Note: I don't speak russian so I'm quoting what I've heard. * There's supposed to be an ambulance ready all the time during the matches. On this match it had left the hall a bit earlier. * There was rumours that he had crashed with Jagr. This might be true but according to his (Tsherepanov's) and their coatch nothing unordinary happened on the ice. * At least earlier today the "best guess" was that he had this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ischaemic_heart_disease * http://rutube.ru/tracks/1103186.html?v= ... 0d32f61b46 There's a video of the bench. You can't see him fainting or anything else violent, so I assume it's not too bad. He is brought to the locker room and gets ovations, I'm not sure was he breathing at that point. * According to Russian doctors his heart was 2-3 times (2 sources, 2 different numbers) larger than an average heart and his spleen was "gigantic". There's speculation how was he allowed to play in the first place. edit: Last year he won the rookie of the year award and he scored more points than Ovechkin, Kovalchuk or Malkin on their first seasons. This year he had kept approximately point per game speed.
  5. Comparing party hats and santas near the christmas is like comparing the price of cars and bikes. They got big similarities, such as being discontinued, but they are too separate things to be compared. - There's enough market power to move the santa hat price up and down. Due the limited market power phats are doomed to stay at their price until Jagex manually adjusts them. Just compare the curve between a phat to other phats and then to santa hats. The phat curves are almost carbonpaper copies, the santa lives its own life. - With santa's price and certain link to the christmas, it can't be compared to phats which are affortable by only few and which aren't directly linked to any special event. A huge number of rs players can afford santas and there actually is the belief that they can rise towards the christmas. If there's enough belief, the santa will rise. My own belief is that santas are taking a small (staying under 20 million gp per if there's no big scale manipulation) jump somewhere around mid december and then falling few days before christmas. I base my assumption on: * There's still quite a few who believe it will rise. This increases the demand and decreases supply -> small jump in the price. * That jump boosts the belief on uncertain ones and the circle is ready. * Eventually the crash happens a bit before christmas when people decide to play sure and dump santas when they're high enough. This leads to the situation where most investors are forced to sell and thus drop it even more. That same pattern has happened on last few christmasses and I don't see why wouldn't it happen now. There's enough marketpower to actually get a nice number of investors, there's an easy way to measure the "right" price and there's more people with the proper amount of gp to invest on them as certain updates have made it easier to make money and there's currently no real competition between them and phats.
  6. thats aloooot of pictures. I currently got over 100mb of RSC pictures (+ some hundreds of early rs2) so that's only a small portion of what I have. For few years I've been planning to start a good thumbnailed library with stories and all, but for some reason I've been slacking and it' has stayed at the idea level. I got some prewritten&published articles (for Zezima's forums) saved up, though. edit: Blue being trendy now? As you wish :P
  7. * Sell the rights to RSC (not including NPC or game name) to the party that pays the most. Close the actual RSC. * Publicly sell 10-20% stocks depending on the way they are divided at the moment and what kind of limitations the UK system have on them. * Sell small add places from the game itself: for example a Nike logo at the GE "floor" wouldn't look too bad, at least not from my bank account's point of view. * Outsource major parts of programming (not the ones vital to the game itself) to India or some other country with the knowledge and cheaper salaries. With the saved amount of money I'd invest a lot more on the customer support. * Arrange few sauna nights with alcohol. A lot of alcohol. edit: Aim for chinese markets by translating the game. Why? - growing markets - huge potentiality - Cheap labour for customer support.
  8. Never ;) Hard to say really. There's still so much to do and things can happen fast. Slay or summoning atm. Quest cape is ugly and I haven't bothered buying other than those capes.
  9. Hello comrades, With this date of 9.10.2008. Ive managed to fullfill yet another goal of mine. This time it was the turn for 99 slayer, crafting, fishing, 2300 skill total and the quest cape, all of them combined of course. This was my 3rd triple 99 and the reason why I chose these skills was the fact that when I started planning for getting 2.3k total from my last 99, I had no other alternatives left than these: with other skills my overall would have gone past 2.3k. Notice that this date is also the 41st memorial day of the execution of Ernesto Che Guevara. NOTICE: THE PICTURE FILE IS AN ANIMATED GIF PLEASE GIVE IT TIME TO LOAD! Slayer was by far the funnest one out of all these. During it I managed to get some quite reasonable drops (including 3 visages from lvl 96 to 99 or so), a lot of (unneeded) combat xp and even charms to top 21 summoning. Shame the sum rank didnt last for long, but oh well. Fishing was quite ok, thanks to the weak US dollar. At this point you might wonder how can I thank a currency for the achievement. Lemme explain it: With a weak dollar I managed to order quite a few interesting books from Amazon for a low price. Readin while fishing was fun :P Crafting itself was a joke: if you can gain over 1 million xp per day it cant be anything special to get 99 in that skill. I know some of you will ask how much did it cost, how long did it take and what did I train. Heres a small summary about that kind of stuff: Slayer: I used the Shilo master and gained approximately 80-150k/day when I trained it. Yes I used cannon, Piety, super restores, familiars, did dragons and swapped tasks I didnt like. I sometimes used a godsword but due the not-so-stable prices I sold and rebought it quite a few times and thus did a lot with a whip. My method of training was of course quite expensive but the drops probably ended up giving me profit. Fishing: This has quite a large variety: I did flyfishing in shilo, I did lobbies, sharks, swords&tunas and monkfish plus I few times used the FOG fishing gloves for both swordies and sharks. I also sometimes used granite lobsters to produce me some extra fish and hopefully provide a bit faster xp. I ended up profiting around 10-15m gp. My speed of course varied a lot depending on the method of training, however Id say I did on an average like 100-200k/d. Crafting: This one was a joke. I did some tens of thousands of green dragonleathers and some tens of thousands of black dragonleathers. I decided I wont be doing tanning as I will have enough clicking to go with other skills. I ended up losing like 30-50 million gp. On an average I did 900-1300k per day so we cant really talk about a slow skill. Quests: These came into my mind at around a week befor getting the 99s. I completed around 10-12 quests in 2 days and left Elemental workshop 2 as the final quest as it gave crafting xp: I got 99 crafting from the final quest. I dont know yet what shall I do next. 91 rc and some agility levels have been in my mind for quite a while now but I could also gain some easy levels from skills like hunter, thieving, con and herblore. As this was the 3rd triple, I assume the circle of triples has been completed. Maybe you might see some other combined goals in future, but probably no more triples. Rate, hate, comment or give some mindless spam. This same post was posted in Tip.It and RSDs forums and Im now challenging you: which forum can get more replies?
  10. What you're saying here is that the capes themselves are the reason why people go to get 99 cooking or fletching after melees. I'd disagree with this really strongly. Ask yourself do the people want a 99 or a cape. With this logic the number of people cutting yews should be creatly higher than the people cutting willows in f2p. With this logic I did willows on my 99 wc because I wanted to get a cape which I never even bought. I personally see people getting 99s in f2p, I saw them getting those before the capes and I even saw people rejecting to buy certain capes. Yes, capes do play a certain role but their role of the "decicion makers" is highly overrated. Same way I'd like to ask you this thing. If you now were 98 in cooking, would you take 99 just for the sake of having a 99 or to get a cape that is worth next to nothing in the eyes of a large number of scapers? Would you walk from bank to bank wearing your precious cooking cape when you already had other capes which are both harder to get and actually are respected by a larger number of people? With your exaggered example I stroke it down with another exaggered example. The point is that when you overestimate the causality between capes and 99s, you should also look at other factors. Coinshared items are said not to affect to the price according to the database. I'd personally believe that more than some research done by the players. I'd also say that most of the bought items are coinshared, not sold in the "real" way. Why? First of all due the nature of God wars, teams got a huge edge when compared to soloers when it comes to the number of good drops. I already said I agree with this part. However I disagreed with the level of it. It's part of the common sense that new updates tend to rise (usually temporary) the demand of certain goods, however those are definately not the only things that keep up the price changes. As long as there are manmade factors that could affect to the supply or demand greately (new or false information, speculation at high rates, manipulation, etc), the equilibrium will break. This kind of jumps happened before the suit, during it and after it. The reason was price manipulation, the snowball affect and the will to profit from it.
  11. Mainly oil. Don't get speculative trade substances :P
  12. On a larger scale I do not agree with this. It's true that certain things are done only for the capes, but with this logic people wouldn't even have a proper reason to have more than 2 99s or if they did, why would they get more xp in certain skills than is needed? Do people own every cape they could have? The sake of having a 99 was the thing that drove me to my pre-cape 99s and after the capes my motives have been other than just having the capes. I'm also sure I'm not the only one who thinks like this. Lets take a closer look at this subject. Our #1 summoner has 54m xp and #2 has 38m. This means that two people have gotten so much xp in one skill that if it was divided equally, there would be enough for 7 99s. With your logic this wouldn't happen as the motive was the cape, not the case of reaching your goal. With the same logic people shouldn't have had overtrained skills before the capes. The coinshare gives us the gp worth the minimum and sends the item to ge for mid. This means that for every GE'd hilt there's few mils drained off from the game: people get X amount of gp, someone buys it for X+Y and the Y just vanishes. In the other words the coinshare removes gp while it gives a nice liquidity to certain items. With this logic things such as price manipulation, new (+some times incorrect) information and expections do not affect to the items. I personally strongly disagree with this: We've seen many items going up and down even after the GE without any new updates or news on things that would affect to them. Santa hats few months ago are a perfect example of this. It's true that the things you mentioned affect to the price, but you're exaggeratign the situation quite a lot.
  13. One basic idea of the price finding an equilibrium is the belief of the price change. Lets take this Sara sword for example. If the item costs X gp today but the trend is dropping, most rational people wait for tomorrow and probably even longer before investing on it. This lowers the current demand. Same time people who are wanting to get rid of theirs are trying to minimize the losses and increase the supply by dumbing their items to the GE. We all know what kind of results are being followed from increased supply and decreased demand. Same of course works backwards too. Eventually the price is low enough for people to increase the demand an decrease supply due the belief of a rise: we've seen this with dfs's for example in a larger scale. They dropped, stabilized and started the growth: people were interested in profit and started to buy them in order to get profit from the rising prices. This increased demand of course boosted the price as the demand increased and supply decreased. I'd like to remind you that the amount of people who can enjoy that increased possibility of easier money is quite small. The people who are doing godwars in larger numbers are those who aren't first thinking of buying godswords, at least not many. This means that the gp gotten from hilts is usually centralized to a small minority while the ones who would want a godsword are struggling with other ways of gaining money. A good example of this is to check the drop and level section of tip.it. Most of the drops are gotten by people who already are wealthy and most of the people who have gotten an example level (such as 99 herblore, craft, con, etc) are saying they got the money from god wars. Here's the catch: people are doing god wars in larger scale in order to get money, not because of godswords themselves.
  14. http://koti.mbnet.fi/hohtava/vanhoi/ There's some older pics I've bothered to update during the years. I still got quite a large collection of old pics, so if you're interested in some special theme, gimme a pm at forums.
  15. Despite the fact that I've spent 1k+ euro per year on metal music for last 5 years this thread reminds me of the meaning of a joke. Why does it really matter does the band play Nooneknowsthissubgenrecore instead of Iknowthissubgenrecoremetal if around 2 people know that subgenre and 50% of the people even agree with the defination?
  16. 0/10 IMO 39k/d speed in fishing isn't worth wasting the forum space.
  17. So basically you're saying that cooking cape becomes better if you train other skills too that aren't directly related to it? Of course slayer+cook is a better COMBINATION than cook+fletch but it's still the same cooking cape.
  18. I personally used to smith quite a lot back in the first years of RSC and eventually got 99 in Rs2. This is how I see the change. At the very beginning, smithing was a way to gain money and get ahold of certain items. Of course as trading was really limited, this ended up to a monopolistic/oligopolic (Depending on Blue's role at certain times) competition where people intentionally or unintentionally supported certain smithers. Eventually it led into non-market based items floading in rs such as rune kites and 2handers which were only held by very few who either were close friends to Bluerose or had enough wealth to buy one from those few lucky ones. By time the number of rune smiths (and same time miners) grew and people actually wanted to get some serious profit out of their abilities. This led into a situation where certain goods started to actually get markets. This increased supply of course started to drop the prices and eventually smithing got into a stage where items were hardly profitable anymore due free smithing and huge increasement in supply. After easier trading methods (notes vs certs vs mules), smith-x and better armours and weapons the skill itself has become pretty dull. The removal of the first version of bh and ge have dropped rune prices below the breakevent point as there's really low demand: members got a lot better armours and weapons plus there's not same kind of armour loss anymore due safe clan related pk. This has led into a case where rune smithing is a few week task to get if you have the money (which many do have), it's hard to even break even with rune smithing and where smithing is basically a bit like a bit more expensive version of fletching: buyable skill that is taken due the sake of having it at 99, not because of same motives why it was taken/planned to be taken some years ago. Unless we get new smithables (hard to see this happening without a complete change in the smithing tables) that actually are worth wearing and are being lost in masses, I don't see how smithing would become something more than the "fletching of bourgeous".
  19. I highly doubt it if it wasn't made an intentional mass suicide. The freezing spells make p2p surprisingly slow as targeting is harder: people are spread out due freezing spells, tens of people running for one target is a barrager's dream and so on. I could almost place a bet that a p2p fight would take over 12 hours for 10k kills. An intentional suicide or mathematical theory could prove that bet false, however that's not the point in a real fight. Talking about mathematical theories... Currently an average top clan member has 99 hp (di = 98,95 hp average, RSD = 98,87 average, etc), barrage maximum damage is 30 and it can hit max 9 targets. This means that in order to get 10k kills, you have to inflict 99*10 000 = 990 000 damage. As the maximum damage is 30*9 = 270, you'd have to cast 990k/270 = 3667 barrages. Notice that after 3 bursts the opponent has 9hp (3*30) left. this means that you'd need to cast 4 barrages per pile. If one barrage takes 3 secs to cast and getting a pile of 9 takes 15 secs (that's quite positive for even a set up fight) it would make up: 10k deaths/9 per burst session = 1112 piles. (15+4*3)*1112/360 = roughly 8 and 30 hours. As we all know, you won't hit the maximum hit on the maximum targets that many times in a row. Infact you won't even hit 9 targets with every barrage in a fight that's not a set suicide event. God swords, range and other makes would make it faster for this kind of suicide events. Did we forget to mention food and brews? The point is that normal clan fight won't make it to 10k kills in a reasonable fight. If somebody still disagrees, just take a look at the clan areas on RSC: basically all 1-2 hour fights up end up with less than 500 kills, in both p2p and f2p. In my eyes that's the best proof that 10k kills is something most clans won't get in an actual fight. The actual fights are a lot different to theoretical mathematical calculations which don't include stuff like toilet breaks, connection losts, sleeping due different timezones, food, etc.
  20. No, they just moved to RSC. What I've seen, Tip.IT more like a secondary place for clans, many top rated pk clans don't even have links to Tip.IT anymore.
  21. If you didn't notice, tip.it got good calculators for calculating how many certain things are needed for the wanted level. Counting the profit after doing the first calculation shouldn't be too hard either. http://tip.it/runescape/?page=skill_calculators.htm
  22. Chat Name: rsdchat Primary Use: Lvl 114+ f2p cmb required for the clan, this is the public chat. Great for getting to know to the clan scene. Additional Comments: A lot of general knowledge about the game. Rather empty during mornings in the UK, towards the night it gets a lot busier.
  23. So, lately we've seen quite a funny things in media. We've seen how Iran has photoshopped missiles to their pics, how Russia is cabable of taking screenshots from Titanic and so on. All the time people appear as in wrong context, they are faked or there's things that the media didn't realise. Now, this kind of media mistakes are funny, yet a bit hard to detect sometimes. Why not save each other's time and try to spot and post them here? I looked few major news sites this morning and these made me suspicious. [hide=Iranians?]http://www.reuters.com/article/worldNews/idUSTRE48P7TT20080927?pageNumber=1&virtualBrandChannel=10112 Iranians? Yet I only see Jordania's flags there. Seems illogical that a unit that was found to hold the national security is waving a wrong flag. Most likely someone didn't do enough research when the pic was chosen from a pic bank.[/hide] [hide=Half a century old map]So, this picture was released in Postimee, the biggest news magazine in Estonia. At first it might look normal, EXCEPT there's one little thing: those boarders haven't been like that since WW2. http://img242.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... jpgna3.png[/hide] Found any? Please share them with us :)
  24. Don't worry, I've been a pmod for 3 years and gotten 0 blackmarks, yet I tend to get the same amount of randoms :P Gotta agree certain randoms are just horrible at irons. How am I meant to talk to the Sandwich Lady while an iron dragon breaths fire towards me?
