  1. Please dont make people improve themselves. We are only allowed to do what they find fun. Hey, no matter how pro- or anti-efficiency you may be, you're an idiot if you deny that DGS wrote the book on non-painful Dungeoneering. Should be proud of the fact that many people who hate you still make use of the tips and tricks you developed. That said, the worst thing that anyone can do is discount all criticism against them. Some of it may be valid, even if most of it isn't. A lot of the time, the case is that people hate the way you do things, not what you do. That said, inb4flamewar. Not trying to cause anything, but it's probably inevitable that it will. And in the spirit on this thread, obt have my babies please.
  2. This, for the most part. They were fun the first time and a couple of days into the second one, but they get old fast. And this one looks like it's even more advertising for the citadels :wall: I wouldn't be surprised if you needed to be in a clan to finish it.
  3. It's been over 24 hours and no one has made a "durr hipsters" comment, I'm impressed. What is there to say? We are the hipsters :ohnoes: (Result: 18.42, reaching as low as 10% for the 7-day)
  4. Alg/Mask/Missingno. I haven't GMed anything, but play Space and Dream Ender, and am watching The Ashen Face for new developments  Would play other Dungeoneeringesque games and probably a Pathfinder game if any pops up. Not such a fan of hegemony, but know a guy that is and haven't been successful in getting him in on this.
  5. Not even that time consuming. Do easy treks and skip anything that isn't a lumberjack event. You're pretty much guaranteed one piece per event.
  6. http://kotaku.com/5821992/a-new-look-at-mass-effect-3s-new-character-james-vega So here's the new guy.

This should be fun. Will get some use out of that weight I keep by my desk
  8. Guess what happened one week later? Muted for either telling a guy to find an artist's website so he could legally download songs, or by sarcastically referencing Jonathan Swift's A Modest Proposal when someone tried to bring up abortion in the chat (After the chat mods warned people to stay off politics and religion). On the positive side, I can probably start advertising that Jmods are too stupid to get 19th century literary references. English majors of the world, watch out. I think I'll just stop going to HYT if somebody is going to report me every week. My primary goal now is to actually deserve a mute
  9. Noobs with boobs perhaps? I can't rest until this mystery is solved.

The moral: Getting players to follow a story when they can do literally anything with their magical powers is like herding cats?

The thing with D&D-type games is that what the GM says often trumps what the rules say. If a player does something that's completely within the rules but a gamebreaker, a GM could deny it. In that sense the rules are more of a template that a GM can use to build his/her own setting. You've seen Lynx do that kind of thing in DE, for example. Archi does it in Space, too, though with more subtlety and often a healthy dose of snark.

Part of it might be that it's too easy to think of a character as a set of numbers within a set of rules. Having your character act like a normal person just isn't as exciting in a setting full of superpowered monsters. It's probably justifiable the same way that Jack Bauer never having to pee in 24 is. Though with the Tavern, it's also likely that we spend more time arguing about both sides of powergaming and what we can or can't get away with than actually playing. That might discourage a would-be GM from starting a new game  Not the fault of anyone in particular, seems that powergaming in general is far more rewarding than roleplaying.
  13. What does it say about us when 18% is on the higher end?
  14. This.
  15. Whether or not Jagex does anything, you've proven that you are among the coolest TIFers
  16. I had a vintage one and traded it away for a large number of items. Good move for a newbie, the items helped me get into the game much more than the hat did

Is that supposed to be apocalypse? Looks like it is.
  23. And it's still probably a better deal than other free music programs we've got access to here. Or at least, the legal ones

    Mmm... Tasty brains...
  25. I took a creative writing course at a community college recently. Everyone in the class had to present a story. Mine was intended to be an over-the-top monologue from the perspective of a guy who couldn't decide what to have for dinner. Cue comments that, based on one throwaway sentence from the character's wife, I wrote a story from the perspective of a man in the early stages of Alzheimer's. The scary part was that it made more sense than what I intended. :ohnoes:
