  1. All I can say is that I hear it gets harder the smaller it is. Don't know if it's true. PS: Rubik's Cube FTÜW!
  2. Firefox 3. Tools -> Options -> Content -> Enable JavaScript -> Advanced.
  3. Haha! I was prepared! A little owned, young lad! _TiQCJXpbKg Not real, but it doesn't make hmatkin any less of a genius! Update: I showed this video to my dad. He liked it until the end, when there was a brief moment where we could see Palin. He reacted with panic and replied "Damn... Now I won't get to sleep tonight..."
  4. No Scrubs? Your parents will get to Haag for this! My birthdays have become less and less interesting. When I turned 13, I really stopped caring. When I turn 18, it will probably be a little different. I will be able to vote (Red Party FTW  ), drive (which I won't, call it silly, but this is my contribution in the fight against global warming) and buy different kinds of poison. I guess I'll buy some firewater on my birthday (7 March 2009. Not so far away). On a side note: The attention you get on your birthday is just starting to get annoying. I just moved, so on my last birthday, no-one knew it was my birthday. I tried to keep it secret, because I didn't want people to sing for me. :-# After a half day of keeping silent, right before lunch break, a genius known on TIF as Olenik2 entered my classroom and shouted "Happy birthday, you bastard!" After about two seconds, my whole class was singing happy birthday for me... On the bright side, Ole gave me a periodic table t-shirt as a birthday present.
  5. How do you go twosies? :3 Duh! Haven't you heard about the new boxers capable of osmosis with solid matter? #-o I prefer boxers, by the way.
  6. What the [bleep] am I thinking? I have my psychology book right here! I can play a psychologist on the internet. (Well, it's not really psychology, but a special version of social studies with more weight on psychology and political correctness. I don't think any information would hurt.) It seems like she is going through a psychological crisis released by a sudden event. From her previous story, it seems like she has some kind of depression. A psychological crisis on top of a depression is never good. There are four phases of a psychological crisis: (Note that she can be between two phases) Shock: Can last for a few seconds to a few days. She doesn't manage to really understand what has happened. She might seem calm, but her insides are dominated by chaos. The body may react with shaking, noxiousness, sweat, tenseness and breathing problems. Panic or isolation is not unusual. Reaction: Dominated by strong feelings and intense reactions. She is starting to understand what has happened. Denial is very possible. She can also think that she is being punished. Repairing: Mostly like the reaction phase, but reliving the incident does not happen as often. She understands more and more about what happened. She is starting to accept it. She stops fooling herself, and stops avoiding the pain. She is ready to talk about it. The symptoms of the shock might start decreasing. Reorientation: She is finally starting to completely accept it, let the incident take less control of her life and plan ahead. Life seems worth living again. The image I have, is that she is in the reaction phase, or possibly somewhere between the shock phase and the reaction phase. She needs help to get to go into the repairing phase. The key is to let her know that you are sad because she is upset, and that you understand her. If she is like me, she is not actually planning to immediately kill herself. She is just saying that as a cry for help. But be aware, in the situation she is in, very little is needed to get her over the edge. I've tried to kill myself two times in the last few months; once when I almost failed my mid-term and once when I missed a bus... Still, she is not me, so I don't know how similar we are. Do you know if she is ready to talk to anyone? If she is OK with it, I'd be glad to speak to her somehow, through Skype, some IM program or something.
  7. Don't worry, people! That is completely normal! [secret]My cellphone is ringing right now... But I don't feel like picking it up, because the vibration feels rather good... =P~ [/secret] And how can anyone say that the glass meme is not funny? :o
  8. As a fan of runecrafting, I would like to see the skill become a little easier, but this is far too much of the good. People with high RC levels would whine, rune prices would crash, magic would be easier to train and get higher magic defence, which would lead to magic being even more underpowered. This sounds like a nice sollution. ;)
  9. Congratulations with that level, legendary def noob! :P It seems that I was quite central in that video... Will the next few days consist of "Omg i saw u in dat vid ur on 3 hit us list!!!@@@!!!111111" :ohnoes: (And *cough* I surely wasn't the one to invite Clooth  )
  10. I will use this thread rather than creating another one, and since this is quite relevant, I will try to ask this question without sounding like a complete idiot: "What exactly is Thanksgiving?" Although we don't celebrate it in Norway, I know that the tradition for being thankful for stuff in the autumn is practised a lot of placed in the world, but I have the idea that it's based on some kind of historic event in North America. Neither Google nor Wikipedia gave me any good answer. I tried asking an American lady in Cameroon. She told me you were celebrating independence from the British. I have reason to suspect she is mixing up some events.
  11. The blue contacts look a little unnatural, but I think a darker shade would look better. PS: I'm a natural blue eyes/dark hair. Does that make me special?
  12. A nice thought, but it's really useless. If someone wants to go around such a control, it's not hard. And porn is in a way worse than violence. Violence is easier to distance from, but porn creates unrealistic expectations to sex.
  13. Without any doubt, I can say that she needs professional help. I don't know much about your friend, but there is probably much more than just seeing her mother die. There is not much you can do personally. (Yes, many people will most likely hate me for saying this, but I know what I'm talking about) In many cases (I don't know if this case is one of them. You should evaluate that yourself), being overly positive towards a suicidal person only makes things worse. They see how happy other people are, which reminds them of how crappy they are, while they get reminded of how much they will ruin if they kill themselves, more pressure to cope with. What you could do is to go to her level. Tell her about some hard times you've had, without an underlying moral. If necessary, you could make something up. If there is no other option, tell her in a gentle way that if she decides to kill herself, you will be sad, but you will support her decision, as she knows what's best for her. This might make her more certain on herself (or it could egg her to kill herself. Be really careful).
  14. I would never let the 16 year old me vote, and definitely not the 13 year old me. :? EDIT: Stan of Arabia, anyone?
  15. Is that even legal? Either way, we ought to make a topic about whether it should be legal or not.
  16. People who makes an interesting piece of text irrelevant because of a minor misspelling/grammatical error. People who get mad at me for not taking them seriously when they put so little effort in their spelling/grammars that it's hard to understand. People who pretend that they were always expecting the Spanish Inquisition.
  17. I've had that problem as well. I simply fixed that by twisting the wire around the speaker itself, so that it would fit in the right angle. If you can't do this, be creative with a piece of tape or something similar. After some time, this might stop working, or if it didn't work at all, it is not so hard to fix them. If you consider them broken and see no other way, try to pick them apart to see what the problem is. It is most likely that some wires have been disconnected. They can be reattached by using a soldering iron. If you are not too experienced on these areas, I suggest you get some assistance. Kthxbai!
  18. Ooo... I've got synaesthesia too! :D Probably not in the same degree as Elisabeth, but it's there. Still, synaesthesia has some bad sides as well, such as I have problems understanding a word if the background colour makes me think of another word.
  19. Yeah, exactly. It's spam. Delete it and move on. :P Case solved.
  20. Attempting to kill ten people is worse than attempting to kill one, so serial killers or serial attempt killers should receive more rehabilitation than those dealing with fewer people. And you should take responsibility for your actions, but if an action has bad consequences, they cannot be undone. The only thing we can do is to try to prevent it from happening again. Extreme example: You are out walking one day, and suddenly slip and fall. Your backpack or handbag or whatever gets out of your control and lands out in the road. A bus hits the whatever, ignores all laws of physics, and it leads to unbalance which makes the whole bus fall, and everyone dies. Should you be kept responsible for that outcome?
  21. What does it matter whether someone's dead or not? If someone's dead, it won't help to put the killer behind bars, just like it won't help to put someone behind bars when no-one's dead. I believe that rehabilitation is necessary and that punishment serves nothing. Therefore, someone who kills someone and someone who fails in killing someone should be treated equally. The outcome is completely irrelevant.
  22. Nope. Yes. And continuing the debate: If you would take everyone on the internet who say they were going to commit suicide seriously, you wouldn't have anything else to do. Anonymity on the internet helps everyone living the life they want to live. Don't you dare saying something in real life? Say it on the internet! Want to verbally abuse someone without any consequences? Do it on the internet! Want to be another gender? Pretend to have one on the internet! I think this actually helps a lot of people in their real life, when they have the ability to get all their frustration out on the internet. But remember: Even if you don't believe someone, don't encourage them to do something you know they shouldn't do. Those who watched him die are probably scared for life just because they believed he was only BS'ing. They can't be kept accountable for anything. Those who encouraged him to do it, however, only had it coming. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything.
  23. Damn it! Now I'll be aware of my breathing every time I browse OT and see this title...
  24. Attempted murder that doesn't succeed because of an unexpected error is just as bad as murder. It's the Thought That Counts.
