=== A Few Easy Upgrade Questions ===
kingjoe2002 replied to midnit3_fury2's topic in Tech and Computers
ahmm how low? You can get a 9800Pro on Ebay for like $80 bucks tops. Then you can flash it to a 9800XT. Else just get a 9600XT which is like $50 bucks lol. -
I sent it already Now its 40% on $2499, even better lol You enter the code on checkout. Should save u a pretty penny :) Get the 9300, the HP runs REALLY hot with a Pentium 4 desktop processor. 9300 runs on a Pentium M which isnt that much slower and alot cooler. Trust me its not fun to have type on a laptop that can fry an egg :) Get all the upgrades you can and put in the coupon lol. Have fun.

I have a good stereo ;) I don't care if it's loud, I can't hear myself think atm. i agree with him, i kinda put that up as a joke. Your case might not fit it, however if it does fit its one great showoff lol. I have the previous one i listed. Bought it off Newegg when my old pc friend and i decided to build my own and overclock it.

No offense but if you are asking these questions i wont suggest u pop off the CPU just yet  RAM is not hard as for a video card go get a ATI 9800Pro or XT -
Do get a laptop, even a big one you can still carry it around Lol spark the 600M has a 14.1in screen and the 700m has a 12.1in widescreen. I would check out the Dell Inspiron 6000 or 9300 since you want it to run games. Preferablly the inspiron 9300. I can give you a coupon that saves 30% off a Inspiron that costs $2800 or more. Its around 1000 bucks off so its a good deal :) Came with a catalogue and i dont need a new laptop this year (will buy 2 next year for college) so its kinda useless. PM me if u want it. With a 9300 u can get like 17 widescreen UXGA like 2 gig of ram Nvidia 6800 Go 256mb graphics card 100gig HD DVD burner 9 cell battery, runs 5 hours. Go with dell cuz they got lots of coupons and stuff that saves u a bundle. OR you can just get the XPS but i think its way too bulky, heavy and the extra juice isnt really needed.

Airplane Crashes at Toronto's Pearson International Airport
kingjoe2002 replied to Bmw's topic in Off-Topic
Unless there is a major explosion there shouldnt be much casulty because the plane was on the runway. So most ppl werebuckled up. The wing is the part that is most likely on fire, and since its a large international airport the fire wouldnt have spread. i dont see why airport officals let this plane land when they know fully well that wind shear could have seriously impaired the pilots control at low altitude  -
60GB? That's alot,,I've a mp3 player with 265 mb and I only listen to the songs I like at the moment.....but 60GB?...what are you doing with it :P i use it as a portable hard drive  I got the special offer from buy.com which was like ipod 60gb for 350 bucks (with an online coupon, just google it) along with a $35 Sony MDR-EX81 canalphones. Its a pretty good deal.

Mp3 is mostly 3 types Flash Hard drive Minidisc Flash is pricey and small capacity Hard drive based players are usually a little on the large side but there is a very small Aiwa hard drive player with 2 gig storage I would look at the minidisc if you dont mind carrying something a little larger but still smaller than an ipod. For around $170 u can get a HI-MD player the Sony MZ-RH910. Its not as flashy as its more expensive sibling MZ-RH10 but it has great audio quality (better than ipod), great recording capability. I have an Ipod photo and a Sony MZ-RH10 and i prefer the Sony. Discs are 1 gig each (sony can squeeze 4 gig into it but they are waiting for the next generation i guess) and costs $7. ************************ blah u bought it already. Well i would shell out an extra 35 bucks to get a good set of headphones. Iriver's stock ones are really crappy. I just got myself a pair of Sony MDR-EX81 over-the-ear canal phones. Its the best earbuds you can get that is cheaper than Shure's.

I had a second generation ipod which got stolen and recently bought a ipod photo 60gb. I like ipods because of their looks mainly. Sound quality is ok, not as good as my Sony MZ-RH10 minidisc player/recorder which i use to record live concerts and recitals. What i like best about the newest ipod is the linux hack. Lets you watch full color videos on it :P. No sound though, ppl cant figure out how to get the second processor on the ipod working with linux

u sure its the cpu? Can be the video card. Also Pentium 4 is nothing compared to AMD's processors lol. You can stir fry out em. hmmm i think this should do it  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6835106044 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6835106057 or this one

a better idea is to get a usb case (whatever they are called) for the hard drive. Basically it turns a regular internal hard drive into an external USB 2.0 hard drive. Very handy to move files around or just leave on ur computer. btw since its an old hard drive its even better because with usb 2.0 you wont be able to tell the difference and its portable...all for around the price of a hard drive controller card.

Geez, iv never heard of a brazilian suicide bomber. Plus, how the hell are you supposed to make sure that he IS a suicide bomber if you reveal that you are tracking him he can just blow himself up? Loads of bs in my view. The cop probably played too much CS and was way too trigger happy and the brazilian's only crime was having a little darker skin and wore a heavy coat. I think from now on every dark skinned person in Britain should go around butt naked. It comes down to that suicide bombings are not enough. Terroists generate terror in civilians. Scotland Yard seemed to have done the same (now you have to look for dark skinned people wearing too much AND policemen with a finger in the trigger). Can we call those policeman terrorists please? Frankly there is very little you can do when the terrorist is willing to self destruct. I guess people should just cross their fingers and hope that they are not wearing too much.

cant you network two computers by just hooking the two network cards together? :?

Urgent help with video files needed!
kingjoe2002 replied to Legolover64's topic in Tech and Computers
try to use VLC media player. I personally like it a lot better than windows media. Its a little more difficult to set up but its alot smoother and never had any problem with it. -
I thought it was a total failure. Gene Wilder ownz Johnny Depp hands down. The new Willy seems so much like a Michael Jackson. It is not a fun film anymore, unlike the old one. Its too dark, i guess it reflects the world we live in today but i still prefer the sunnier original.

Buying a new graphics card (today?) - Have questions!
kingjoe2002 replied to Dark_Tigra's topic in Tech and Computers
might be a better bet to buy a new computer lol. Dells 2400 cant be upgraded that much since the mobo and cpu are pretty cheap stuff. However i would get if Geforce 6600 GT if u really wana spend ur dough. No way ur computer can use the juice of a 6800. 6600 is good bang for the buck in the PCI Express arena. If ur looking for an AGP card (doubt it cuz 2400 is express i believe) then you cant beat a ATI 9800XT overclocked. also i STRONGLY suggest you either shop around on ebay for a dual core machine or an old Xeon dual processor unit or build ur own. Good bang for the buck. 1 grand can get you a dual xeon 3gig processor 1 gig ram etc. -
Quick advise: Tomorrow (6/16) is the last day of a promotional event at Best Buy (think there are best buys in canada). 160gb hard drive for 120 bucks - 80 dollars rebate so for a final costof 40 + tax. Very good for a new computer lol and its a pretty decent drive. 160gb, 7200rpm, 8mb cache and 9.8mz avg seek time

DBPowerAmp is very good. I used it for awhile until i switched to Atrac formats. Atrac is a lot less well known than WMA or mp3 but i like it over the other two. The format used to be **** but the latest version Atrac3Plus is very nice. You can squeeze alot of songs into limited memoy at 64kps and the quality is still great. Downside is that the softwares that are used to encode it isnt that great but usually i only encode a file from cd twice. One into FLAC or equivalent another into Atrac at 256kps.

Someone made a portable gamecube.

I would go with Sony made car stereos. Speakers dont matter. Sony has the best skip protection around (generally). My friend has a really expensive Pioneer sound system however give it a lightly scratched disk and a few bumps...lets just say its not pretty. On the other hand my cheap Sony deck never skips, even my portable cd player has better sound, better skip protection etc than the Pioneer unit. Of course that pioneer model might just be a dud, however from past experiences i would recommend you to try to go with Sony or Aiwa if you can.

Was looking to buy a new mp3 player after my Ipod's hd failed (1 feet drop from back of my car on vacation lol). Friend showed me his Sony MZ-Rh10 minidisc player. Thought it was very neat. Lots of features and very small. Replaceable discs however it is only 1gb in capacity (he told me Sony can squeeze 2gb into it). 3 times the battery life of the Ipod i had and the sound quality was superb. Its not cheap though since im going for the Japan domestic unit (around $300 bucks). Anyone else have some experience with MDs? A cheaper version is out there apparently. Mz-rh910, pretty much the same unit for half the price but i cant live without a backlight lol (910 doesnt have it, rh10 got a OLED display)

i managed to get a preorder of it and have it shipped to my Chem teacher's right when it comes out. She is a big Zelda fan and i hope she puts some work into my recommendation

well if its right next to the router and it still doesn work then switching the channel wont help. Try to use another wireless adapter and see if it connects. If not its your router. Flip the router upside down and stick a pin where it says reset. Then power cycle you cable modem and reconnect your router. If a different adapter works then uninstall the adapter u had before and reinstall it. Make sure you turn Windows Firewall off. also u can try to uninstall the TCP/IP protocol and reinstalling it.
-
put the laptop right next to the router and see if u get connection. If not something is wrong with ur router. If yes the channel u were using probably has interferance. I had a similar problem where my wireless connection just stopped working all of a sudden. I was on channel 11, try either 1 or 6 cuz the others wont make much difference. I went with 6 and my internet worked fine again.
