    Ubuntu

Friend of mine got started talking to other day about Ubuntu. I'd heard of it before, and knew it was an operating system, but that's about it. He was telling me all about it, but I don't know anything except Windows (yeah I know -- I R NEWB <_< ). He did mention that "one of the main differences is that you have to open everything through like a DOS command prompt. You don't just double click a desktop icon", or something along those lines... which sounds annoying to me to be honest  ; but perhaps I misunderstood him. The POINT of this topic is this: can anyone give me some brief (or long, your choice) descriptions of exactly what good/bad differences there are between Ubuntu and Windows? I've heard for years around these forums that Windows is a terrible operating system, but I've never really paid attention to it much because I didn't know anything about another op system. Any help (especially if some kind Tip.iter left some helpful instructions) is greatly appreciated.
  2. SMG's can be good. When I first started out and unlocked the UMP45 (which is a sub machine gun) I was using it quite often. Eventually I started sniping. And it's hard to go from a long ranged sniper to a short ranged SMG and not get frustrated  .
  3. Just curious. I've got about 11 people on my friends list and am currently #1 in Kill/Death ratio and BARELY #2 in accuracy (my cousin is #1). My stats aren't outrageously good, nor am I bragging... but I'm just curious as to what everyone else's stats are. Feel free to list your main and/or secondary weapon setup. Kill Death Ratio - 1.34 (this WOULD be higher, but when I first got CoD2:MW I was effing terrible <_< ) Accuracy - 24.31% Main Weapon Setup .50 cal Sniper AA-12 Shotgun Semtex Flash Bang Sleight of Hand Pro Stopping Power Pro Steady Aim Pro (for longer breathe) There are 1 or 2 maps where I never pull out my sniper at all, but other than that, I at least START OUT sniping. If it doesn't go well for me for some reason, I switch to my Secondary Weapon Setup below. Secondary Weapon Setup SCAR-H AA-12 Shotgun Frag Grenade Flash Bang Bling Pro (w/ Holographic and Heartbeat) Stopping Power Pro Ninja Pro This, as stated above, is my Secondary Weapon setup. If I'm not sniping I'm using this. I have the same setup (except with all silent attachment/perks) but I very rarely use it or anything else. I know there are probably better setups but I'm only Lvl. 34 so I haven't exactly unlocked everything  .

    Beer Pong

Ahh, I forgot to mention the eye-to-eye shots to decide who shoots first. We also play "Gentleman's Club" (as you so put it).
  5. I hooked up with a... "chunky"... chick one time. My girlfriend had broken up with me at the time, plus there were considerable amounts of alcohol coursing through my body. . Although I can't really say I regret it. She's actually a cute looking type of girl, just a bit overweight (you know the type). Oh well, life experiences of an 18 year old I guess.
  6. I dress comfortably these days. I'm currently a 21 year old junior in college, and these days I'm found in sweatpants/Jordan sweats and some kind of t-shirt in the winter w/ a Northface jacket. In the summer time I'm always in mesh pants (normally Jordans or Lebrons... I find those 2 the most comfortable) and t-shirts. Granted at night time or going out to parties I normally wear t-shirt, jeans, boots/tennis shoes, or depending the occasion I'll thrown on a button up. Back in high school I always wore the Abercrombie and Hollister stuff, but now that I've grown up a bit more, I find $100 jeans to be a waste of money <_< .
  7. Here are a few pictures randomly grabbed off of my Facebook. All pictures were taken this year at random points. Might throw a couple more up later if I think about it. Random Beach Trip [spiked Hair] - I'm the guy to the very right in the blue shirt. Taken around mid/late July. ECU Weekend Trip [shaved Hair] - Obviously, I'm the guy (chick is an ex-girlfriend). Coincidentally I'm also in the blue shirt as the picture above. Taken around March. UNCC Weekend Trip [spiked Hair] - Taking shots out of a measuring cup. I'm [developmentally delayed]ed, I know  . Taken late September. Random Party [Non-Spiked Hair] - With another ex-girlfriend. Taken around the beginning of August.

    Beer Pong

I live in North Carolina. Around the center, to be more precise. There are many different ways to play depending on where you are, but the rules we normally go by are as follows: #1 - Bouncing counts as 2 cups. If the other team bounces, though, you can swat the ball away if you're paying attention. #2 - Knocking over one of your own cups means nothing. You don't have to drink another, nor do you have to refill it. #3 - If you make both balls in the same cup (or a cup that hasn't been drank but set to the side) it is considered game over (a.k.a "Death Cup"). #4 - If you shoot a ball and miss, and that ball bounces/rolls back to you, then you have a "bounce back" shot; this has to be taken behind the back, though. #5 - Girls blow, guys finger. This means when a ball is shot & spinning in the cup, girls may blow in the cup in an attempt to blow the ball out before it hits the beer. Guys may stick a finger(s) in the cup to try and finger the ball out before hitting the beer. #6 - In relation to the last rules, #5, guys may ONLY finger if there is... *cough*... "vagina" at the table. Otherwise nothing can be done to the spiraling ball in the cup. #7 - Rebuttal is allowed as long as the cups made do not exceed cups left by winning team. #8 - One re-rack; not in the middle of a turn. This includes balls back. #9 - Both shoots made is ball back. #10 - Overtime is 3 cups in a triangle; no re-rack. I think that's pretty much it. Some people play 10 cup beer pong, some people play 6. We play 6 around where I live.

    Acne

I was lucky enough to not have acne all that bad. I'm currently 21 years old and might get a random pimple every couple of months, but other than that my face is fine. I use Nivia For Men Razor Defense face wash. Nothing fancy. It's like.. $5 a bottle, and lasts me a month or longer. The worst acne I've ever had was my sophomore/beginning of junior year back in high school, and even then it wasn't bad at all (no more than a few random pimples at a time).
  10. Here's how my mind works: If they are unattractive & they decide they want to talk to me, then I have no problems having a conversation with them. But as a 21 year old male, I am not going to make a conscious decision to go up and start a conversation with someone that I find unattractive if there are attractive people there. In most of these types of social situations I am out at a bar/party, and am obviously on the search for women I find attractive. But I'll talk to anybody no questions asked if they approach me first  .
  11. Thanks everyone for the replies! As Fook said, it was Musashi that started the 2hand price plummit. Not only was it because of us undercut(s), but it was also do to the free smithing he began offering. With Bluerose, she didn't initially offer any free smithing to the public. Mostly just with friends and the occasional random person I would imagine. But with Musashi, as long as you could get a hold of him & had the supplies, you had yourself some rune items. Eventually more people climb the smithing hiscores to 99 and also began offering free smithing which resulted in even lower prices. As my Merchant Story said, I was using mostly Yankeeyank1 and Whitemagem for my smithing needs. I wish I could remember the entire list of 99 smiths at the time our (Britches and I) 2hand business started. I know Bluerose13x, Musashi22, Yankeeyank1, and Whitemagem were at the time... but who else? :wall:
  12. Well I randomly decided to go through some of my old 3 1/2 floppy disks earlier, and stumbled across one that had no name. Curious, I popped it in (I have a USB pluggin floppy disk drive : ) and I couldn't believe what I found! On the disk were a few random documents along with a ouple of pictures. One of which happened to be a VEEERRRYYY old RSClassic picture from 2002. It excited me so much, I felt like I needed to post it: At first I thought that it wasn't really as old as I thought it was and I must have just made a typo when I typed the date in the picture. I checked the properties for it and what do you know, it's right: Not a clue where I could be standing on the map  . After checking back with my Merchanting History *cough* click sig *cough*, I realized it was during the time I was heavily involved in my Rune 2 Hander business. According to my merchant story, rune 2 handers were about 350k each at the time so if you add in the 500,000 gp I also have in my inventory then that means I'm carrying 10.3 million+ in the picture. Not sure why there's a rune kite also in my inventory :? . Guess I just needed a kite at the time and had the smither make it for me? Your guess is as good as mine. P.S. - What r2h business? All answers can be found in my old RSC Merchanting Story... just click my siggy!
  13. Wow I have so many really good memories back from when I used to play. I'll name a couple (although some of these are mentioned in my 'What's your RS story?' topic). #1 - Rune 2 Hander Business - Back in 2002 I met a guy who we'll just call "Bob", since actual nameing is against rules. To make a long story short we got in good with a couple of level 99 smiths, which at the time there was only a handful unlike the hundreds/thousands there are today. This began my "legacy" of early RSC merchanting. #2 - Party Hats, Party Hats, PARTY HATS - After the Rune 2 Hander business closed I began merchanting rares. Eventually this turned into nothing but party hats. This again was still back in RSC (mostly 2003 to be exact) and I've got tons of great memories from meeting people and being involved in the merchanting scene. #3 - Wizzy hits 85 Mine & Smith - Wizardgir, whom I met in 2002, finally obtained his longtime goals of rune mining & rune smithing. More information of this can be found by clicking my signature (which is a link to the longer version of my RS history). He obtained 85 mining in 2003 and 85 smithing in 2004. Great times. Especially because I was there for both of them and in fact donated the last 5,000,000 gp he needed in 2004 for his final push to 85 smithing.
  14. Woah that was quick :ohnoes: . Wow all these stories are great but I just wish some of them were a bit longer and more detailed. A couple I've read and thought, "man I bet that'd be a lot better if it had more to it." Haha. But not all of you can have a boring life and a drive for writing a 4 page story on Runescape... I need a job :wall: .
  15. You know, I think you put it perfectly. Although the only difference is I was so much into the old RSC days that I can barely stand the thought of the Runescape today. Not even so much as the graphics. I loved the way RSC looked and functioned! But I realize that these days the old RSC wouldn't be able to have as many functions, features, and popularity so I get why they changed everything. Adam007... you're name sounds farmiliar. But I don't ever remember dealing with you or anything. Then again, I never made any other merchanting friends other than "Bob" (from the story) because I honestly didn't know there were other people out there like us. Putting rares aside and focusing on the r2h business Bob and I had, there were times in the beginning of the business that I really thought we were/could be considered pioneers in the "destruction" of the rune 2 hander market. I realize that those with 99 smithing were the overall reason. Obviously. But I never considered the fact that other people could have been doing what Bob and I were doing. The reason I thought this was simple. According to my calculations and information, I would have to say Bob and I both introduced 800-1,100 rune 2 handers onto the market (this is including AFTER the Bob hacking when I continued the business by myself before I got into rares). Not to mention the fact that throughout the entire time I was involved in the r2h market I never once ran into anyone who was doing it on the same level as me (or Bob for that matter). It was kind of a rare occasion to see someone selling more than a couple of rune 2 handers at a time in Summer 2002, and after a couple of months into the business I was heading off to varrok world 1 castle grounds with an inventory full. In a conversation with Whitemagem (while he was superheating the 2handers), he made a comment to Bob and I that went something along the lines of, "You guys sure do make a lot of rune2handers. I don't think all of my friends list combined have asked me to make them as many swords as you 2 have." I'll never forget that : . Eh, I don't know. I guess I was just in my own little world back then. Although looking back on it I wish I had met a lot of other merchants like Bob and yourself Adam007... probably would have been easier and had better gains having people I could work with  .
  16. Haha no problem. I love threads like this, too. I don't know what it is, but whenever I think back about my Runescape story it gets me so "pumped up" I almost want to log on and start playing again! Of course that feeling is immediatly followed by the pure hatred I have towards Runescape for what is has become today (yes... I hate 99.9% of everything Runescape related these days... for no particular reason other than it isn't like the golden days such as those within my story). Great stories everyone. Keep 'em coming!
  17. Samsung Alias I've had it almost a year and 1/2 I believe. I still love it because it has all the features that I find comforting (not bulky, can open upwards like a normal flip phone, can be opened sideways for the QWERTY keyboard for easy txting).
  18. Eh, no biggie. I was expecting almost this exact reply :D . Being a 20 year old sophomore in college who lives in North Carolina (United States), the beers I named are considered "the best". It's very different than it is in other countries [as I kiiind of tried saying in my original post]. The top 5 beers consumed in the United States is Budweiser, Bud Light, Coors Light, Natural Light, and Miller Lite... I believe in that exact order. Corona/Corona Extra is the #1 imported beer (it's from Mexico). So you see, all these beers that you might have "at your local pub" we don't have over here in the United States. Or if we do have a random "pub" that serves beer like you're probably used to drinking, it's FAR from common for tons of people to visit them. And for the record, there are a lot of beers that pair up deliciously with fruit. Corona & Lime, Sam Adam's Summer Ale & Orange... to name a couple. Oh goodness no. A common misconception in the world of alcohol is that Southern Comfort is a bourbon. Even my local grocery store has Southern Comfort sitting next to Jack Daniels. In actuality, Southern Comfort is classified as a liquer (though it "starts as" a bourbon in production). Which is why unlike a lot of liquers SoCo holds it's high alcohol content [ 40%/80 proof and also can be purchased in 50%/100 proof]. Although the real hardcore lovers of Southern Comfort would probably disagree, and claim I am clearly oversimplifying the complex tastes, I say Southern Comfort tastes a lot like bourbon mixed with triple sec. One of my favorite "sipping" liquor drinks is 1 part SoCo, 3 parts water. It also mixes well with some fruit juices for those fans of the sweet drinks.
  19. [hide=Wine]Wine is good and it's also bad. I've had wines that I thought were stupidly delicious (Duplin Christmas Wine is a good example), but I've also had wines that I thought were just too tart for my likeings. I'm a much bigger fan of the sweeter red wines such as red muscadine. Not to say that's all I've ever drank and will ever drink. I'll try any wine that's put in front of my face. The best wine I've ever had was a bottle of 1967 Cabernet Sauvignon. Not really sure why, but I loved it.[/hide] [hide=Beer]I absolutely adore beer. For the most part. But being from the United States, I don't very much get the chance to try any exotic "home brewed" beer from places like Europe, Ireland, etc. As far as domestic beers go I'll drink anything but my top 3 favorites would have to be Coors Light, Bud Light, Busche Light. Don't get me wrong... I enjoy other beers. Natural (Natty) Light and Bud heavy (Budweiser) to name a couple. Not to mention Samuel Adam's has a wide assortment of different beers my favorite being Sam Adam's Summer Ale (with a nice orange slice  ). Budweiser is delicious but it's fattening as hell and makes me feel like I'm drinking cupcakes  . I've also tried tons of micro-brewery beers and imports (Corona & Labatt Blue to drop a couple names). Miller Lite is terrible. Tastes like a nasty flavored water. But since I <3 drinking so much, I wouldn't dare turn my nose up if it's the only thing to drink.[/hide] [hide=Liquor (Spirites)]My pride and joy. I enjoy cracking an ice cold beer and watching some football (American football that is)... but I gotta say I am a "lets take a shot!" kind of guy at heart. I will drink any liquor that is put in my face, although I do not enjoy tequila unless it's done with a body shot :D . Mixed drinks are good and all, but nothing beats that sweet burn deep in your chest that slowly moves down to your stomach. Since I'm just a drunk and don't really care what it tastes like, I normally go for the dirt cheap liquors of Aristocrat (Vodka) and Gold Crown (Whiskey). I do, however, venture into the more "expensive" liquors once in a while with Captain Morgans (Rum), Southern Comfort (a very sweet type of Whiskey), and at times Grey Goose (Vodka). The strongest liquor I've ever had is called Everclear. Its 95% alcohol (190 proof) and has warning's all over the bottle telling you that the consumption of the drink without a mixer can burn the lining of your esophagus :ohnoes: . I've had a straight shot of it before and even as a seasoned alcoholic it tore me up pretty bad. I live in North Carolina by the way and I know in some states you can't find it. As far as I know it is the strongest, LEGALLY store sold liquor on the market in the United States.[/hide] There ya go.

I was raised over in Buckhead, I drive a BMW." I was breakin' hearts and takin' names and numbers just for fun. Stealin' kisses wishin' I was twenty one. When Thursdays came and pocket change would quickly disappear Upstairs at Lowry's Tavern, we'd pay a nickel for every beer Shootin' pool, smokin' cigarettes with a dizzy head and a grin Four A.M. on a school night, still hangin' out with my friends One hour's sleep on a dirty couch, no shower, off to school Smellin' just like a brewery with a bad hangover too The teachers all would hassle me: "Stay awake, pay attention" I was catchin' hell, wishin' I was twenty one. The youngest one of all my friends, I didn't act my age Too cool for the football games and the homecoming parades Now I look back and I have to smile, cause boy it was fun Bein' seventeen, wishin' I was twenty one Now I'm only twenty six, feelin' more like fourty three My hairline's disappearing, and I never get ID'd My clothes are out of fashion, no I'm not cool anymore In the bed by ten o'clock each night, and up at half-past four Still I go down to that college town when the Bulldogs play at home I drink keg beer from a trash can til the whole damn thing is gone Then I look at all those college girls so innocent and young And I just check 'em out, and say "Damn... I wish I was twenty one"[/hide]
  21. Well back in 2006-2007: 5 foot 11; 210 lbs; bench = 290; squat = 475 (?.. maybe a bit off there); power/hang clean = 285. I played (and live) in North Carolina. The high school I went to is 2A. Random fact: the dude to the left of me in the picture (#92) is one of my really good friends. When he graduated with me in 2007 he was 6 foot 3, 270 lbs, maxed out bench at about 410, and RAN A 4.5 FLAT. Yeah... he's a beast. Plays football for Elon University now. He also happens to be the only person to beat me for defensive player of the year that jack@$$ -.- .
  22. I play D right end for my Football team ;) I'm 20 now and in college, but I was captain of the defense and played inside linebacker. Defense is by far better than offens, btw. Couple random football pictures: Homecoming Game 2006 - I'm #41 talking to the refs before the coin toss. January 2006 - Voted all CCC and all county (nearly all state) and this was the picture taken for the news papers. Had another football picture I was going to post that's sort of like the first one (not posed just the warmups before a game) but the picture's thumbnail sized for some reason -.- .
  23. Readded the "Bob" section of my story that was removed for using an actual in-game name. Great stories everyone, keep em coming.

    Bad Habits

Drinking. Although I wouldn't really call it a bad habit if you really want to look at it. I have a wonderful home life, am very social and outgoing, have a lot of friends whom I'm always doing things with. I also keep my grades.. well.. decent enough for a sophomore in college ( : ). I'm not a mean/sloppy/loud drunk. There's not 1 single thing bad that comes from my drinking habit except the slow decay of my liver :? . Other than that I really don't know any bad habits that I have. I'm not really lazy. Procrastination once in a while, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it a "habit" at all. Used to hae a bad habit of Runescape and being on the computer in general but since I've grown up I don't play Runescape anymore and any excessive amounts of time spent on the computer are normally the late hours of weeknights (since I'm never really home on the weekends or when its day time during the weekdays). One bad habit I've slipped into is my.. "health laziness" if thats what you would want to call it. Back in high school I started getting into being healthy. Played football in school, lifted weights everyday, ate right. Then I got out of high school and focused more on getting lean rather than packing on the heavy muscle since I didn't need it for football anymore. But up until around September I just stopped for some reason. Been eating like a fatty and not working out or doing any form of cardio. No worries. With a New Year comes to hopes and my resolution for 2009 is to get back into my healthy lifestyle.
  25. First post edited to remove content which breaks this rule. Ugh. My bad. But you basically removed the best/most important part of my "Merchant History" story :wall: . Is there ay way I can put it back up and instead of using the person's actually RS name use some random name like "Jimmy"?
