  1. If it's good enough to run High Detail smoothly, which it should considering they say it can run Battlestar Galactica, I'm sold. Runescape would be a fine game on a portable... console? Netbook? Whatever. On the other hand, it would be hilarious if Jagex had no idea Panasonic was using their art.
  2. I don't see any real harm in it. It's far better to have a 50 year old woman having a baby and putting her experience to good use than a 16 year old with no parenting experience at all. I mean, sure it's slightly weird to have such a huge age gap, but it's ultimately fairly harmless. Having a child at 70 sounds incredible though, I just worry that the parents won't live long enough to see their children grow up.
  3. Should be doable with Ice Burst actually. "This spell is not powerful enough to drench the flames." ;) Nah, that's just cheap. The challenge was working out that a multi-target ice spell was needed. Solving the puzzle then being told that the solution was unnecessarily higher than it really needed to be wouldn't be fair.
  4. Prove that training any skill for 200 hours isn't fun. Go train fishing for 200 hours, come back and tell me you had 100% fun doing it, then you can use that as proof. Sorry but that is just an idiotic thing to say. The thing is, those arguing for higher requirements have't really said any reasons for it. The reasons for lower requirements without excess grind is to make the game fun, which we should all essentially be playing it for, and should be the groundwork and basis for any game that exists. Lower requirements let players train skills at their own pace going through the game without overloading them with all quests at once, but letting them get the levels through other quests, random musings, money making etc. Grinding for requirements however has no point. They don't need to be there. for me, there sould exist quests that need some elite requirements, im not saying making all of them like that, not even close, i do agree that most should be mid level, but some (just a few) should be for elite. we have up till grandmaster, what if they just add another category, a harder one, with higher requirements, would that harm all players? as i recall, the ideia of elite diarys was a good one, why not do the same to quests, but as i said, just a few, one to start perhaps ;) if we shouldnt grind for requirements, everything in this game should be available at level 1... We've only got two Grandmaster Quests, and we're only just getting a third. People are still arguing about what really defines a 'Grandmaster' quest, because there aren't enough of them to make that really clear. Jagex are doing the right thing by fleshing out the Grandmaster tier with more content. I feel that an effort is being made to have equal amounts of content in every tier, the lower tiers have shorter quests, so there's more of them. The higher tiers have fewer but longer quests, but Grandmasters haven't caught up with the rest, hence why another Grandmaster is being released. I recall that in a Runefest video, they said that they'll get some more out first, and then they'll release the next tier.

Now I have a reason to turn off all the lights and pretend I'm not home!
  6. Is that to say there are other sects of scientology? Usually cults are minorities, but if the majority of scientology is a cult, then I'd say scientology is a cult. You know perfectly well that it doesn't work like that. Mainstream Scientology, that being the one endorsed by the CoS, is a cult. Offshoot groups want to disassociate themselves from the CoS because it is a cult, they explicitly want to get away from that. You can't just label them as cults when they honestly want to get away from that culture and just practice their beliefs in a free environment, it's just unfair.
  7. Agreed. There are enough Novice, Intermediate, and Experienced quests. If you compare the lists on the game guide, quests are definitely biased towards easier, shorter quests, which does mean that the experience of questing does lose its shine at higher levels. I think Jagex knows this too.
  8. I just find the idea of a quest that requires level 97 fishing, with no intermediate step between that and the current quest with the highest fishing requirements to suffer the worst thing that a piece of content in an MMO can ever have. It's boring. I don't mind training fishing if it's regularly punctuated with interesting content, be that other quests or actually useful abilities, but to only train fishing for days cannot constitute any sort of enjoyment for those who level their characters in a balanced way, which is very common amongst people who enjoy quests. It just goes against the grain of the difficulty curve of all of the previous quests. I say it's fine for Jagex to aspire to have a quest with 97 fishing as a requirement, but they know that they need to make that journey to 97 fishing enjoyable.
  9. Lol, that instantly made me think of Minecraft. Me too. Then again, that kind of concept is part of why Minecraft is so good. I'd be all for defeating a boss using weapons and equipment you made with your bare hands. Isn't this called dungeoneering? I... uh... oh. Oh yeah.
  10. Hah, I knew they'd do that as part of a quest. I'm pretty sure it will only be one of many puzzles you'll encounter though. If there's one thing Jagex does well, it's quests.
  11. I also have a problem with this, because there've been situations were humans have been raised by animals, but they still have a set of morals, they KNOW what is 'right' and 'wrong'. That means it's hard wired into us, so it could be one of two things: either there is a 'god' (maybe it exists in the Thiestic sense, or maybe it's more of a 'New World' sense) or we've evolved it in order to further our chances of passing on our own genes (as Discussed in Richard Dawkins "Selfish Gene"). But I don't find the latter explanation satisfactory because humans are capable fo doing completely irrational things in the name of morality which could ultimately destroy any chances we have of apssing on our genes; it just doesn't seem right to me. Your statement is very ambiguous. When you say 'they know what is 'right' or 'wrong'', do you mean that they have their own ideas on what is 'right' or 'wrong' or that they agree with your own ideas of 'right and 'wrong'? If it's the first, yes, humans are hard wired to do that. We primarily rely on morality as a social construct, the result of the thoughts and discussions of the ancestors of those who teach us. However, if left without any input, a human will use his/her own experiences as a base to form his/her own morals, in which case it is simply a human construct. For example, a common, but not universal one is the principle of cooperation for mutual benefit, and anyone would work that one out by discovering the bad consequences of not cooperating with others. Our genes tell us to observe, remember, generalise, and act, the tools for making a moral system, but they don't tell us what we come up with, otherwise we'd all have the same concept of morality. It's still a human construct. If it's the second one, I don't believe you. It's not plausible to think that two humans that have never met and do not have any common experiences will have the exact same concepts of morality. In fact, I have reservations that such a thing is possible even if you HAVE met or have common experiences. Nobody *knows* (as in the universal non-subjective know) 'right' and 'wrong'.

  13. Who said that Zaros was an evil god? He ruled a prosperous civilisation for centuries. I have a feeling that other gods portray him has evil because he was so powerful and others wanted it for themselves.
  14. The second Panorama programme shows us something: A religion, as in the ideas, beliefs, and concepts, are in no way the same thing as the 'official' organisation of that religion. I can believe in a benevolent all powerful God, but I don't have to go to a church, mosque, or other place of worship to do so. A lot of the people who have left the Church of Scientology in that program still believe in the set of beliefs, but disagree with the Church. They have actually made a distinction that most people, and dare I say it a significant number of the people on this thread, have failed to do. Scientology is a religion by the definition of the word, BUT, the Church of Scientology is a scam and a cult. And if it's big enough to warrant such intense debate across the world, both are far from a joke.
  15. Always remember that the Berserker effect only kicks in when you use an aggressive style! Spears don't work because they only have accurate, controlled or defensive styles. I think everyone already knows this, but I thought I'd throw it in just in case.
  16. Look what we got here, a cliché! So you're not as smart as you say then. If you were really smart, you would of taken the oppotunity of easy HS courses and got the best grades ever for the best scholarships/colleges ever. But no, you were too elitist for that. Another cliché amoung the self-proclaimed Einstiens. So it's a cliché, it just seems to show that people have been saying this for a long time and it's still not being heard. Useless information and the ability to parrot what you've just been told is being given a much larger value than what it is worth, and it's to the detriment of everyone.
  17. You do understand that this is a Grandmaster Quest? It's not some kind of endgame content, you should be bitterly disappointed if you consider bragging like that an achievement. The idea is to beat Nomad with stats that are reasonably around the requirements of grandmaster quests, the 70-80 range. Nomad is difficult because the required stats are commonly accepted to be at the higher end/slightly beyond that range. There's no point talking about stupid overkill techniques like Steel Titans, Eagle Eye Sheilds, or Overloads, because it doesn't apply to the level demographic that these quests are aimed at. Nomad is a very difficult boss, and I am yet to beat him, now stop your whining.
  18. Why does it make you facepalm? Grandmaster Quests, up to now, have been great fun, and the Void Knight series have been really good quality. We're not going to see a dragon defender any time soon, considering how powerful and popular the rune version of it has been, and also the fact that defenders, or dragon metal, don't have anything to do with the Void Knights. ... I know, I'm a quest nut.
  19. For forums and community content: Tip.It For calculators and planners: Tip.It For general information: RS Wiki For quest guides: Zybez Tip.It really need to have an overhaul of its main site. The forums here are amazing, and dynamic content and calculators are really good, but the guides leave something to be desired, and RS Wiki can't be beaten for general information on a subject simply because of its Wiki nature. It's no big deal that we can't really compete with RS Wiki on what it does, but it is a big deal that the main site design is outdated and the guides leave something to be desired. They need to be more concise, consistent, and clear.
  20. Sorry to state the obvious, but content is intentionally released at regular intervals, Jagex probably have a buffer of about 3-4 months or so. If the quest wasn't released this month, an equally big piece of content would be released instead. So if the void quest wasn't released, it would still have been a good month.
  21. Nomad's Requiem: Level 75 Magic Level 70 Prayer Level 66 Mining Level 65 Hunter Level 60 Construction Not exactly very high levels needed, lol what a noob grandmaster quest. Oh wait you gotta kill Nomad. Beat me to it. Grandmaster quests are difficult even if you have the requirements. I think I'll just get on to training to 80 magic, hopefully I'll get a heap load of commendations from The Void Stares Back (by the way, I think the title is a Neitzsche reference. If it is, kudos to Jagex) which will give me enough ranged levels for Nomad.

I'd get the pet. Abyssal minions can be shown off wherever you go, and you can put it in a Menagerie. If you turn it into a trophy, you'd only be able to show it off in your house.
  23. Hear hear. Gnomes look terrible, they updated Hazelmere's chathead then never bothered again.
  24. That's a mighty good question. Scientists tend to look for water when they're looking for life because they're simply going with what they know. There might be another set of 'building blocks' of life that don't include water, which act in a completely different way to how our 'building blocks' interact, but we'd be looking for a really specific set of certain needles in a really huge haystack filled with needles. We may as well start off looking for a planet like our own, because we know for certain that water, amino acids and oxygen, a gravitational factor of about 10g, and temperature of about 20C has harboured life: us.
  25. I believe that was, until a week or so ago, a limitation of the game engine, and we'll expect to see rejigging of other weapons as well. EDIT: The 'remove formatting' button doesn't seem to work properly....
