Internet Explorer 9
Really? I've found adblock for chrome to be just as good as the FF one... It doesn't block the ads like it does on Firefox, it just hides them. You are talking about AdBlock for Chrome, right? The notes clearly state that nearly all resources are prevented from loading.

29-Sep-2010 - Guaranteed Content Poll: Dragon Scimitar Redesign
I'm not saying the designs are bad but your sly jabs are no less welcome. I actually didn't vote though because I have no care for the item in question and would rather leave it up to the people who do care, regardless if I think they're silly for it. I apologise if my comment seemed inappropriate, it's just that it annoys me when I see someone suggesting a reflex idea against change, even if the change is for the better. A significant proportion of the community doesn't like the look of the dragon scimitar, for practical (make the difference between the dragon longsword and scimitar clear at first glance) and aesthetic (it just looks like crap) reasons, and this vote should clear up the matter. After it's been changed, we probably won't hear anything more about the 'D Scimmy' for years.

Open IE > Search Google Chrome > Download Start menu > Type 'features' > Click 'Turn Windows features on or off' > Untick Internet Explorer > OK > Restart. That normally fixes my problems.

29-Sep-2010 - Guaranteed Content Poll: Dragon Scimitar Redesign
Actually, there is a 'Keep the original design!' option. I think they saw you coming. I voted for B, because it's the only sword that really fits the description of 'vicious' and 'curved'. The others either look bland or don't look very much like a scimitar. They should do these things more often.

I can't stand schools.
Today, I tried to catch up on a program called 'The Classroom Experiment', which is about new and radical ideas for teaching children in basic subjects at around GCSE level. Having gone through nearly the whole system, currently starting my first year at Aston University, I thought that it would be an interesting watch and a reflection on my past decade or so. After 15 minutes, I couldn't watch any more. It wasn't the fault of the program, it was an interesting premise and the way it was being presented was of good quality, but it was myself. The thought of having gone though so many years forced to sit in a stuffy classroom listening to things that today I couldn't even start to remember was genuinely repulsive, and I felt physically sick about it. Years have been wasted, a huge proportion of my life kowtowing to the bureaucrats that I neither knew nor understood at the time. I have a capacity to learn, but also a capacity to forget about things that haven't been important to me. And after finishing my A2 exams, I think I've forgotten nearly everything that I learned in the classroom and remembered hundreds of orders of magnitudes of information I have learned outside it, be that through my own unaided studies in things that have interested me or through other life experiences. For me, classrooms, places where I was supposed to receive plenty of information, seems to me now as places completely devoid of it. For example, I have terrible handwriting. But I've only ever needed handwriting for two things: Notes to myself where typing would be inappropriate, and school. In the first, I don't judge myself on my own handwriting so quality doesn't matter. The second isn't applicable in the outside world. On the other hand, I've taught myself to touch-type and spell with reasonable consistency because it's a faster and more reliable method of conveying text to other people. I've even asked at school if there is anything that I can do to improve on my typing techniques to only be rebuffed with 'Sorry, we don't teach typing because the GCSEs and A levels in IT aren't held in high regard by universities'. It just goes to show the mentality of those who tried to teach me. I feel that thoughts of dropping out of the system were being repressed as I was constantly told how I'd never get anywhere in life if I dropped out. Even if I went further in school, I was only met by the same warning signs, strongly implying that my efforts of keeping in the system since I was last warned would be null and void. It was a deeply psychological intrusion on my ideas of leaving and doing what I wanted to do during those years. At no point do I think I was ever presented with a real choice to leave. None of this was worth it to me personally. I am not a material kind of person, all I want to do is learn about things I want to learn about, and discover more in the process. Getting a decent job is not important to me at all, and I only really see that now that I'm in the relative plateau of the first year of university. Only now I want to stay here because university is all about personal research instead of being told what to learn, I just wish I could have told myself about this 10 years earlier. Does anybody feel the same way about this?

There should be
I think the idea is that magic conducting armour around you makes it difficult to project the magic towards a target away from yourself, hence why armour doesn't impede non-combat magic. I think the basic principle of why magic should beat melee is that a mage should be able to bind his/her enemy on the spot, and then attack at a small distance, dealing large amounts of consistent damage, without much fear of being attacked at all. The lack of reasonable melee defence shouldn't matter against a melee using opponent. The problem is that although the dealing damage part is sound, the binding part is not very well supported with cool-down limits and limitations. The act of moving away from your enemy will probably lose you a combat turn, which makes binding spells even less effective. A short distance instant teleport, Hobgoblin Geomancer style, would be good.

Partyhats
We're just seeing market forces at play, although to extreme levels. On the other hand, the GE can't keep up with these extreme forces, and that's the biggest problem.

Ammo Bind
Hmm, I figured bloods was the best ammo bind for me, since I can't make them. Getting rid of enemies with armour can be a serious pain if you don't use magic as a secondary style. I have a routine where I move through the first few rooms, and getting over 12500 coins. Then I come back to the base, buy 250 essence, then craft 150 of them into fires, 50 into airs, 20 into laws, 20 into natures, and 10 into cosmics, which is a quick task with practice. The multipliers for RCing then works itself out, giving me enough high alchs, fire waves, create gatestones and group gatestone teles to last me the map. Then again, I have a poor RCing level (I think it's 58 at the time of posting), so results may vary for those slightly more proficient in the skill. I originally bound natures, but I found that I never really use more than 15 or so well placed high alchs in a dungeon, so having room for 125 of them seemed like a waste. On the other hand, if you can't make natures, then it might be the better choice.

Miscellania: minimum coins in box?
Since I'm normally in a state of constant financial crisis, I usually keep MTK at around 500-600K. I check twice a week, bringing up my rating to 100% and the coffers to 500K again, and withdraw the resources every other time I check, so it turns out weekly. It's actually very little effort for a lot of money, so long as you get into some kind of habit. Everyone should use MTK.

Is Arcane Stream worth it?
The arcane stream necklace does wonders for barrows. I just recommend getting SoL, Arc Stream, AND the Tome of Frost, because they just work together so nicely. Also, the arcane stream necklace has a +14 magic boost, whereas a Fury only has +10, so if you're planning to protect from damage or safespot, it's probably the better choice there. Specialised amulets, such as the Ranger and Strength amulet, are usually better than generic amulets like Furies in their field.

Philosophy, Riddles and complete mind[bleep]s
Why look for philosophical problems and paradoxes to mess with your mind when the universe produces things like this? I like to think of it like this: Photons, or bigger things like electrons or protons, are weird blurry things that don't appreciate it when you ask the wrong questions. Quantum Physics allows any particle to explore the state of being anywhere, or anywhen, in the universe!

What needs to be "Tweaked" in RS?
A visible indicator of special attack and familiar special move energy near the minimap. Even better if they have some kind of animation. I don't mind going to the combat interface to actually set off the special attack, but I do mind going and blindly clicking, discovering I'm 5% short, and losing a combat turn.

21-Sept-10 Gunnar's Ground
Nah, looks more like limpwurt to me. I have to admit, some of the dialogue was hilarious, I love Jagex's sense of humour. Also, Haakon had it coming.

For those Dungeoneering with bad internet...
Strange, I used to be able to teleport back to my group gatestone fine when I dc'ed. Is this a recent development?

4chan DDoS's some anti-piracy sites.
Once hackers start taking out nuclear power stations (Or worse, making them malfunction) I think that you would change your opinion with haste. Firstly, nuclear power stations only use private networks, disconnected from the internet as a whole. Secondly, it's a war against governments or lobbying groups, not countries. I relish in the idea of a pure war of ideas, where nobody can be physically harmed.

Why does Jagex make such a big fuss about bank space?
When we've got the construction skill, something like this is unnecessary. Construction is a huge money sink, so why not give that more storage based content, and the result will be the same? And people, use bookcases. They're only construction level 4, and they save a huge amount of space!

Why does Jagex make such a big fuss about bank space?
Extra bank space is the lazy way of fixing it, because it will only increase the issues associated with the current bank system. It's hard enough to keep your bank from slipping into chaos over everyday use and quick banking, which is why we need placeholders, and more storage rooms. The problem here is that the bank doesn't work very intelligently. Items that can combine into a smaller form, such as Grand Exchange sets, the keyring, essence pouches, the rock, gem and coal bag, where the result would be the clearing of one or more bank spaces, should do so. Of course, you should be able to specify which items to not do that. I'd like to be able to store items in storage furniture in my house remotely from a bank. It's things like that which would solve this problem, not bank space.

Select resizable mode, then grab the edges of the window and make it really small. The interface tries to collapse, but eventually it resorts to overlapping.

DisplayPort
If any of you own a 5xxx ATI graphics card, you're probably aware of yet another port for sending images to your monitor, known as DisplayPort (because apparently ignoring spaces and using mid-word capital letters instead are in fashion right now). My question is this: What on earth does it do that HDMI doesn't, and if there is nothing, why does it exist?

France bans the niqab
Lol I've never heard of video footage showing a woman in a niqab shoplifting. If a criminal wants to cover their face, they'll cover their face. Ah, but a criminal would rather cover their face as well at not draw attention or risk being asked to uncover. Right now, criminals can't have both, but the acceptance of the niqab would give them just that.

France bans the niqab
What about CCTV? A lot of cases of crime have been solved because most shops and public places have CCTV cameras installed. I can very easily imagine people using the veil to commit shoplifting or other crimes, even if they're not Muslim. Many shops don't allow people to even wear hoodies with the hood up, and that's only a cultural thing. Why not the veil?

Can I reasonably beat Nomad?
Heh, that excactly what I thought when I practiced . Oh god, I see what you mean now. Does nomad just go easy on people who don't actually plan to kill him? In any case, this is going to call for 80 ranging, and that Tortoise. Damn. Again, that's what I thought. Keep trying! My poor budget... Anyways, OP's been updated to be a bit more clear, and I'm turning this into a rallying point for Nomad tips for the lower levelled. I don't want to spend ludicrous amounts of money or time on this when I don't have to, but then again I don't want to spend ludicrous amounts of money on inventories of Sara brews and super restores.

Terrorist Threat in the UK - Severe
Nearly, the point of terrorism is to use fear to achieve a goal. If the pressure has no direction, it has no effect.

Terrorist Threat in the UK - Severe
Not really. Considering that there's no logical plan of action that the public could do to make themselves 'safer', so they won't do anything about it and go about their daily lives. Now, if it was a particular place that the article said was of high risk of a bombing, that would be a different matter. For now, I'm just living life and not wasting my time worrying about this kind of thing.
