Going by experience, fighting a higher levelled boss increases the chances of higher tier items, so playing in a team helps here. Though, of course, you've got a reduced chance of getting the item at all. I've personally received a Saggitarian Shortbow and arrows from a level 96 Saggitare, so I think it's possible to get any tier from any boss, it's just less likely to happen.
  2. Wait, is it even possible to roll back a single world separately from the others? What if you'd done a D&D on the world, and it rolled back? I don't think I can accept that rolling back a single world is possible, there's too many potential issues. 15 minute rollbacks for the entire game, however, have often happened. In that case, the mask went back to the original owner.
  3. Nothing makes me happier right now than to know that Runefest 2010 was a success. It was implausible in so many ways, but when people arrive in their skillcapes and partyhats, which is probably going to be a staple in the next Runefest, you know it's going to be enjoyable. I thank the community for making future Runefests possible, I'm going to try my best to grab a ticket the next time it's announced. Thank you so much! As a side note, that queue must have looked incredibly strange to passing members of the public.
  4. Or, there should already be a quest that requires a similar, slightly-lower level. For example, WGS required 75 magic before Love Story came out and required 77 magic. A later quest might reasonably require level 80. I strongly disagree. It's the bit between the quests that shouldn't be a chore, because we're talking about the meat of the game. Love Story only really requires level 75 because you can just use mind bombs, but I disliked the task of getting Magic to 75 in the first place. Alching and Humidifying for a long time bored me out of my skull, as it does to anyone. If they released a quest that gave me enough xp to get me from the highest magic requirement of a quest before WGS, whatever that was, to a level reasonably close to level 75, or even better a new way to train magic that was engaging, I'd be satisfied. Another one of my gripes was the unpottable 69 Smithing requirement of Rocking Out. you're basically saying "I wanna do everything with just quests" just as pures complain "we wanna do everything without *insert stat here* jagex' opinion on the matter, is clear, logical and reasonable: you do your thing, they'll do theirs. it's better for the game if things are integrated, making it a single game, rather than a bunch of minigames stuck together on one account (i'm not implying the old word for "activities" here). suck it up, any level based rpg is based on playing time to progress, rather than only inherent skill. get the levels, or you don't get the content. it's the MAIN MECHANIC OF THE GAME. if that's too much to grasp, play a non-level-based game, don't complain here about a part of the game we all know is there, and is the driving force of it. if you don't want to throw balls bowling, play darts, don't complain about having to throw a ball in bowling. If you are just saying 'get levels', I'm fine with that. If you are saying 'get levels' and mean 'grinding', I'm not. Some skills have activities that are time consuming, but not boring, such as Stealing Creation, Soul Wars or Pest Control. Even skills like Slayer and Dungeoneering are based on trying to avoid being repetitive, hence why they are so popular. I wouldn't mind if they put 85+ level requirements of those skills in a quest. On the other hand, training Magic, Runecrafting, Fletching, Smithing or Hunter as they are best trained is excruciatingly boring, at at the current state of affairs, should not be a big requirement for a quest. Do you follow now?
  5. Heh, i got one before word got around about how good they are, so I didn't bind it. Oh joy.

  7. Hasn't Jagex said they're not gonna do that? I'd say it will be back down to 99. They have said that they had no plans to do that. Which implies that idea had never come to mine, but they may be considering it now. Personally I hope they do increase the caps of all skills to 120, except Strength, Attack, Ranged, and Mage. Just because it would make PvP even weirder. I also think that making 120 HP possible would create the possibility for more items. Just my 2 cents. edit: Naturally my answer to OP's question is: Yes I do think it will be 120 because I think all skills will get their someday. Not really, but you can think that if you like. When they say that the have no plans, they are implying that if it is ever going to happen, it won't happen any time soon. Jagex thinks long term, which is why they don't make very good bug fixers. On the other hand, the big content that they come up with is generally of very good quality. Level 120 doesn't really contribute anything to the game unless they have content to back it up. Dungeoneering will have that content when the Warped floors come out, but Jagex need to fill out other skills to 99 before they even start considering implementing this.
  8. Gonna do a bit of Farming for WGS, then a bit of Agility, or any skill that doesn't require competitive resources. Herblore's too difficult a market to get in right now, but I'll take advantage of the inevitable crash after the end of the weekend. I'm a bit annoyed at myself for leaving Farming (need 62, have 57) and Herblore (need 63, have 56) last of my quest requirements.
  9. I think that we need to make it clear that if Jagex wants to put in quests with higher requirements than we have now, they must first make sure that the effort to get to those levels must be engaging and enjoyable. I do not want to have to grind to get to a quest. I want the time I spend to get to, say, level 85 hunter to be nearly as fun as the time I spend completing the quest that requires it. If it isn't, it should either be removed from the requirements, or new content should be released for hunter first. If people want to get level 99 or 120 in a skill, that's fine with me, but don't make the cape that's all about getting the most out of the game involve gut-wrenchily boring training sessions for days on end.
  10. To be honest, if teleporters were invented, you would have to have some kind of direct physical link set up between the start and the destination. Considering how much information would have to be sent, you couldn't feasibly do it wirelessly. You'd have to use lines with the capacity of the main lines of the internet. That makes it extremely difficult, if not impossible, to set one up under the radar. By the time the technology has developed to the point that it does become possible to do it without physical links, the inventors would have to get money from somewhere, and no government could provide as much money as what you could get if you released teleporters to the commercial market. Oh and I'd most certainly use them, but I fear of the consequences of cloning myself. The whole identity theft thing would get much more complicated. As rocco said, spacial portals would be much more convenient. You can use them for so much more than transport.
  11. Probably the most reasonable way to get there is to use a huge ship where a family goes through several generations. I suppose it might be reasonable at that point for us to be able to break down matter into energy, and use that for heat, light, electricity, and even food, replicator style. Black holes do exist, but what actually happens in them can only be speculation, what with the whole 'event horizon' thing where time itself can't escape the gravitational field.
  12. Heh, I notice how popular 'Raw Onion' seems to be. Giving all of the colours, of which there is now a vast range, a Runescape themed name was a nice touch. I'm especially fond of 'Twilight Dagon'hai'.
  13. These clothes really make you feel as unique as characters like Xenia or the WOM. It's great :D EDIT: Note to self, the colours don't quite match. Must fix. EDIT: EDIT: I fixed it, but there's no point changing the photo because it's barely any different.
  14. I would love it if you could combine the hat with the craftsman's monocle. EDIT: Come to think of it, I would love it if you could combine most hats with the craftsman's monocle.
  15. Dust is fine, it's only a problem if your computer runs at a particularly high temperature or if you want to have nice looking components bathed in blue light or something. I once had to fix the computer of a chronic smoker though, think Left 4 Dead.
  16. whats the boots, and what book ? He's gone and worn some other items as well to 'complete' the look. At a guess, he's equipped Builder's Boots (From the Tower of Life quest), the Tome of Frost (From Dungoeneering), Dark Kebbit Gloves (from Hunter), a blue Soul Wars Cape (from Nomad's Requiem), an Amulet of Fury (player made) and a Black Cane (from Treasure Trails). They certainly do compliment the outfit nicely. Just finished them, It's just a pity the 5th clue was so poorly designed. Uncut Rubies aren't easy to intentionally come across if you don't have them already, unlike the other required items, and the task of counting such small and numerous objects was keyboard-smashingly frustrating. Those are Lumberjack boots ;-) Aha, good spot. You'll make a better Investigator than me, at any rate. Actually, looking up the models, builder's boots might match the rest better, being more brown and less grey.
  17. In Jagex's defence, Mining, Fishing, and Woodcutting have incremental qualities. Everything in those skills gets quicker and more efficient as your level goes up. Skills like Construction, Herblore, Dungeoneering and Slayer don't do that, so they have more content that gets unlocked as you go along instead. There's a balance to be had here.

  19. Jagex really don't need to worry themselves about making a game bar themselves, even if their effort was commendable. All they need to do is release information like more live D&D statuses, and the community will do the rest. :D
  20. I'm fed up with Jagex right now. They need to stop playing games with the economy. Just because it can handle one change at a time to one or two skills, doesn't mean it can handle the equivalent of nearly every skill getting a big update at the same time. It's flawed logic.
  21. I am very resentful of this. I was planning on training ranged before the weekend but I can't get any chinchompas. There is no net gain for the game, it just gets easier and you can't buy anything for training. Looks like I'll have to hunt them myself...
  22. Ah, the English system really know how to mess with you. I applied for Chemical Engineering course, and needed an ABB to go to Sheffield, or BBB to go to Aston Uni in Birmingham. Then I screwed up, and got a phone call telling me I got a BBC, dropping a maths grade. At this point I'm panicking, my UCAS form isn't doing anything and I'm just waiting for it to go to 'rejected'. At the same time I'm hearing on the news about how clearing is tougher than it's ever been and that I'm stupid because I'm 18 and can't get a job or insurance and so on, with the soft cackling laughter of bankers, politicians and oil company bosses in the background of my doomed life. Later in the morning I go to the school to collect my certificates and sit with the row of people who also didn't match their offers. They're all respectable people, just a victim of the times. Then suddenly, out of the blue: 'Your UCAS form has changed. Please log on blah blah blah blah...' I log in, knowing my fate was sealed. 'Aston University, Chemical Engineering MEng: Unconditional Offer Accepted' I nearly died.
  23. I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but you're really missing out. IE is the slowest mainstream browser out there, and you'll benefit from keeping your toolbar count to a minimum for the purpose of screen space and speed. Even if customisation isn't your thing, which will help with speed, you should still make the switch.
  24. Non-euclidean geometry!? π = 3. You know it makes sense.
  25. The Water surge and Entangle combo is inferior to ice spells because you will spend one combat turn dealing comparatively no damage, whereas ice spells deal constant damage even on the turn where you are trying to hold your enemy in place. I liked the second article though.
