  1. The chrome extension appears superior to Jagex's effort, in that it's a button and not a toolbar. I love it, thankyou!
  2. Ok, this goblin one is giving me a headache. They're very good puzzles though. EDIT: Ah, I got it now. Blah. Lying about lying is not a healthy thing to do in logic. The answers are in the hide tags. [hide] It's Sir Vant. Sir Tiffy had received money from Sir Amik, so could not have lent money back. Sir Gerry, as rule number 2 states, didn't lend the money to Sir Amik. Sir Renitee was busy lending money to Sir Vant. [/hide] [hide] It's Wartface. If Bentnose broke the window, he is lying and therefore didn't break the window, so the paradox rules him out. If Mudknuckles broke the window, then Wartface broke the window. Only one goblin broke the window, so it couldn't have been Mudknuckles. If Grubfoot broke the window, then Bentnose broke the window, and the same rule applies. Wartface broke the window and is lying. Bentnose and Mudknuckles are lying, but didn't break the window. Grubfoot is telling the truth. [/hide]
  3. If I wanted to do this, and cool idea by the way, I'd saw off the side of a cheap old case that the motherboard mounts on, and then screw that to the wall instead of directly using the holes in the motherboard itself. It would save you from doing too many measurements, as well as any unforseen problems associated with having the motherboard in direct contact with painted wood. The PSU is going to be slightly trickier, though. It can be in any orientation, but drilling holes in it without knowing where the circuitry inside it lies might not be a good idea. Perhaps soldering a flat piece of metal (may as well be from the old case) to the base and then nailing that to the wall might work?
  4. Uh, if you say so. Personally I enjoy solving problems, including the quickest way to obtain the items required, but then again there's no obligation to do this kind of activity.
  5. For f2p, it is inevitable that you're not going to have as wide a selection as member's items, but I assure you that in member's it's very noticable when two players wearing the same thing are seen together.
  6. I still don't believe that randoms appear often enough for Jagex to spend effort with this non-issue. If this actually bothered anyone, they wouldn't have survived a few years ago.
  7. I'm going to get a Desire pretty soon, before I head off to uni. The thing is with iPhones is that people just don't want such closed systems to have such a tight control over the market. Customers are embracing open systems instead of closed ones, as the Flash debarcle shows. Flash might be buggy and owned by a pretty much faceless company, but it's still a work in progress and people have the freedom to do what they want with it. It's the same reason why so many people jailbreak any console or system that they own. They feel a fundamental right to be able to do what they want to the hardware that they purchase, and the iPhone system will never grasp that desire. I just hope that another OS other than Android will surface soon as well, lest Google go as power hungry as Apple or Microsoft has done with their own systems.
  8. At 50K tokens, it's certainly shouldn't be at the top of most people's Dungeoneering wishlist. Only when you've cleared out some of the more token-efficient rewards like the scroll of life, the gem and coal bag, an arcane blast or stream necklace, and possibly a chaotic weapon, might the Ring be a good goal. Of course, some of those might not apply to some people, but the Ring's capabilities are still fairly limited when it comes to overall efficiency increases. I reckon that having both Vigor and Zerker (i) and switching when you unleash your specials has its merits. It makes it more complicated, but you'll get your extra special as well as the bigger strength bonus when you're just smacking away at a task.
  9. Please god no, don't give the pkers any more to complain about... I can just see it... "Swordfish noob" As in because Swordfish are relatively cheap or because of the sheer act of healing yourself (*shock horror*)? In any case, they'll find excuses to make another 'x noob' insult anyway. It won't do any harm.
  10. As others have said, the most annoying thing about them is the lag instead of actually solving the puzzle. If you can't do that kind of thing, treasure trails aren't for you.
  11. Not really. They're pretty rare for anyone with normal playing habits, certainly not difficult, and the rewards are respectable for the effort.
  12. But then it wouldn't be a Cryptic Clue FEST. It'd be a Cryptic-get all the items before hand and knock it out in 5 minutes- Clue Welcome to the world of efficiency. Jagex doesn't work with efficiency, they're still using Windows 3.0 on their computers. Fixed. Windows 95 was a beast. Agreed. Win95 is a man's operating system. I missed the first one, I wonder if I can get the magnifying glass again? It's probably a long shot though. These events are fun.
  13. I like the overall concept. If it was me developing this, I'd consider these: 1. Healsplats should be visible to all, but they are of a lower priority than Hitsplats, so they don't appear if the 6 slots are filled. 2. No icons to the side. Instead, the type of damage (defined by what defensive qualities it considers when hitting or missing, so magical melee is considered magic) is shown by the shape of the splat itself. Also, differentiate between slash, crush, and stab. 3. Consider an animation for damage being blocked, similar to a magic squib or a reflect curse, eliminating the need for a 'Misssplat' entirely. 4. A gold edge around a splat to signify a maximum hit. 5. If you're feeling adventurous, do some animated splats for those with higher graphics settings. 6. Stat reduction splats?
  14. Well that's completely ruined my day. Good job Jagex, you just made everyone's enjoyment of the game decrease significantly. I don't want huge price hikes for resources, and I don't want my achievements to be lessened so catastrophically. I was planning to get my Quest Cape on September too.
  15. You say you train dungeoneering while having fun. Is there any reason i cant train combat while having fun? I have fun in soul wars, i can train combat via soul wars. Thats "fun" to me. I can train combat with stealing creation, thats "fun" to me. And if i dont like either of those, i can train it how i want, be it through PC, slayer, FOG, etc. By comparison dungeoneering only has one way to train it, and thats with a minigame that personally, i don't even like. Its like making it so you can only train magic by playing FOG, SW, or another minigame, and then pulling the fun card out of your ass and hailing it as the best skill since dungeoneering because your forced to train it with a "fun" minigame!!! And while sure, FOG is quite a fun game, everyone would know the skill was so much better when you could train how you wanted to train. Theres nothing wrong with a minigame. But thats all dungeoneering is... A minigame. If i don't like that minigame, too bad, its the only way to train the skill. By comparison, i can train most combat skills however i feel like it. I could AFK train if i was lazy, i could slay, i could PC, i could PK, i could SW. I could even dungeoneer for combat XP (Slow XP, but still). How is forcing you into one minigame to train a skill, any more preferable than giving you a skill that you can train with minigames, monsters, other skills, afk train, whatever you want. I know i would prefer the skill with a little choice. You say 'one minigame' as if all minigames are equal. The Dungeons of Daemonheim is a superior 'minigame' to any other combat training method. It's one of the few parts of Runescape that requires the brain of the player to pull off. Choice is good, but only if the choices are good.
  16. Dungeoneering is pretty much a glorified minigame. Magic, and combat in general, can be used in other minigames like SC, Clan wars, Castle wars, PVP, etc. And while the actual training of the skill is generally more grindy than dungeoneering, i for one think its much more fun for the skill, not the training of the skill. 5 Minigames > 1 Minigame :shades: That bullet looks tasty, I'll think I'll bite it. What's wrong with it being a minigame? It's the most glorified and complex piece of content we've seen so far, and being level 67 at the time of typing, I still haven't got bored with it. It's likely that the Occult floors will be released at around the same time as I can open the first one, so the new content doesn't stop. Also having level 67 Slayer at the time of typing, I have got bored with that skill already. It's only interesting some of the time, but when I have to train on a vanilla monster like fire giants in a non-descript cave for hours, I just get bored out of my skull. EDIT: In short, Dungeoneering is my favourite skill. However, I wish Hunter got a bit more love from Jagex, it's got a lot of untapped potential.
  17. i also (range) slay alot. sometimes even with my tank gear i find myself wishing i had a fury, but with that setup your first order of business should be a zerker ring since it has been proven that ROW's don't help much at all, and actually decrease your chances at some drops. also a firecape would be worthwhile to get. but besides those two, a fury should be your next upgrade, probably followed by a dfs for some tasks. I just want to make a point here: The ROW, pointless as it is, never decreases the chances at some drops. Instead, it changes some of the 'no additional drop' possibilities on the 'rare item wheel' to a selection of rare drops. However, because of the changes in the value of many items found on the 'rare item wheel', such as d spears and gems since they were introduced, actually getting these rare drops barely improves your average income when alternatives like the Fremennik rings exist to improve your rate of kills.
  18. Sadly you can't. I'm guessing the reason for this is to keep the value of many mature ales up.
  19. I just find it interesting that a game where the players frequently kill citizens in cold blood in broad daylight without a second thought is the same game where you have a moral decision whether to put down a crippled harmless creature or not. And it's still a tough decision.
  20. Just out of interest, did anybody actually decide to put the void leech down? I didn't have the heart to do it, even if it was crippled. P.S. Is it me, or are these plots getting darker?
  21. I'd like a way to mark a room as inaccessible, such as when you approach a skill-door that nobody in your team can pass. A big red cross will do. This tool has the potential to be really useful, keep up the good work!
  22. There was also: [hide] Wether to murder the workers or not[/hide] Ah yes, forgot about that one. I'm pretty sure Jagex has said that player's decisions won't make more difference than minor dialog changes, because it would be too difficult to design sequels for multi-pathed quests. That's why Lucien gets the Staff of Armadyl and Hazeel is resurrected regardless of player's choice. They did, but I think they might have changed their approach this time. If you look at the quest journal after you complete it, it very explicitly doesn't cross out the parts where you make a choice, as if to make it clear that these events are still important even after you've completed the quest. To compare, the Shield of Arrav does cross out your decision to join either the Black Arm or the Phoenix gang.
  23. I reckon this quest is more important than the rewards suggest. Over the course of the quest, you make 3 decisions: [hide]1. Whether to tell the truth or lie to the Rusty Anchor barman. 2. Whether to kill the doorkeeper or just knock him out and tie him up and shove him in a box. 3. Whether to put the pest down or set it free. [/hide] I think those decisions will make a big impact for the rest of the series. EDIT: Oh, and I really liked this quest. The whole series has a genuine feel about it.
  24. It's called consumer choice. If the US is going to be remotely capitalist, it has to accept that principle. Ah, this is the problem. You've got an expenses kerfuffle to go through, like we did in the UK. I'd deal with it. I don't consider the US to be much of a republic, to be frank. The US constitution invests so much power and focus on one person that it's no wonder that it draws parallels with absolute monarchies. I'd deal with that too.
