UK Politics Discussion
But as this picture posted earlier in the thread shows: Only Conservatve and Labour can really get in power as it is, when other parties may have people who are much more qualified. I think the benefits of Pr far outweigh the negatives. Ah, but what about cabinet seats? If the Tories are going to make a deal with the Lib Dems, the only way I can imagine would be to give one or two cabinet seats to the Lib Dems. If we get Vince Cable as Chancellor and a Tory government, we get the best of both worlds. The Lib Dems don't have very strong policies elsewhere, but they do have a good potential Chancellor.

When does anyone leave?
I've been hearing 'noob' far less often nowadays. It's a welcome change. The word noob is supposed to be an insult, rather than any kind of progression though the game. 'Newbie' means someone who is new to the game and learning the basic mechanics. There isn't a level when you suddenly no longer become a newbie, it's more to do with the player's knowledge of where things are, how to complete certain tasks without help, and so on.

Voice chat on CC - for you?
You're saying that the release and the prospect of future release of complex activities which require teamwork and coordination isn't a reason to have voice chat? Other multiplayer games get along with voice chat perfectly well, why can't this game?

Multi-monitors for the win. I'm really happy that you guys have seen the light about how much better it is to have more than one small screen than one big one.

motherboard on wrong side of case?
Dells do use ATX, it just some of their cases that are weird. Though I'm still completely lost on how you can have a case tht opens right side AND mounts right side. And equally how it can be a problem to transfer from a right side mounting case to a right side mountain case. If you're right, he would have no problem with graphics card. I don't know, I think we need a bit of a clarification about this old case.

Voice chat on CC - for you?
Not really, most games use this technology with ease. It's server light, and it's highly optional.

motherboard on wrong side of case?
Wow, Dell must have some serious greed issues. If their motherboards don't use ATX, then you shouldn't buy from them. Inventing form factors like that is unacceptable.

I do like this anti-Europe talk. It's important for people to realise that we're losing the EU the three things that we need most right now. The availiability of jobs, a government that does it's best for the people who elected them, and government money. You don't need to have any nationalist feelings to realise that the EU is a very bad idea. So long as we keep on trading ties, economically speaking Europe would still be a bloc as well. As Cameron said, too many people confuse the economy with the government.

motherboard on wrong side of case?
I'm confused as well. How did you get at the components if opening the old case would lead you to the back of the motherboard tray blocking your way?

My Graphics Card Sucks.
Right. Looking into that graphics processor, you're running off integrated graphics, which means you don't actually have a graphics card in there and it's no wonder that it's useless for games. This is a bit of an assumption, but Nvidia says that nForce 430 motherboards have a PCI-express x16 slot. This is good news, you can look into the modern cards that will get you what you want. There's loads of options for cards, but the easiest way to narrow them down is this: How much would you spend on this?

Mod Mark H reveal RuneFest item 2010
Eh, alright. Considering that it is purely cosmetic, it's fine. It's like a holiday item but for the event.

Regarding Norton
I've had some really terrible experiences with Norton, and simply put, I don't trust the developers. I use Microsoft Security Essentials, the memory footprint is so small it's almost as if it wasn't there.

Voice chat on CC - for you?
I would be a really nice feature, so long as Jagex irons out the potential problems with offensive language getting to people who don't want to hear offensive language. I don't see a problem with people hearing offensive language when they don't mind, though. It should be hosted on secondary servers, but accessed in the game. I wouldn't mind if they condense the Quest/Achievement Diary interfaces again to do this.

24-Apr-2010 - Jagex Presents... RuneFest 2010
Er, I thought this was going to be an adult orientated thing, given the alcahol and age limits? I'm definitely not going now.

24-Apr-2010 - Jagex Presents... RuneFest 2010
Oh man, there's no way I'm going to spend £75 on that kind of thing, and I was considering going too. The ticket prices should be about £30, give or take a tenner. I'd rather spend that kind money and go to a great big theme park instead of a convention that's being hosted by a company that has never done a convention before. As Qeltar said, Runescape needs PR so much more than to break even, so to pull this destroys the point.

Runescapes End?
Although I agree with most of what you're saying, I don't entirely agree with you concerning the updates to keep people playing. It's simply the case that there are now very few possibilities for additional updates that Jagex could add to the 'newbie phase' of the game (Iddeson made sure of that), bar the generalised ones which potentially cover the entire game and will take many months/years to develop. They've just added NPC voiceovers to the Unstable Foundations quest a few days ago, and it's going to logically follow that they add NPC voiceovers to more beginner quests and areas and beyond. Graphical updates are also of a similar vein, but I don't think we are going to see another RSHD for a long time yet. I believe that if Jagex keeps on working on getting rid of the misconception that RS is a game for children (RuneFest is a good breakthrough here), they might find a bigger, more mature audience and Runescape will continue to grow.

Runescapes End?
Somehow, it's further away from the end than it was two years ago. We're seeing the first real world Runescape developer public event, regular and sustained updates, the start of NPC voice acting (something that would take many years to complete alone), and general improvement. I'm happy for the game. :)

12-Apr-2010 - Dungeoneering Skill!
No, but well made minigames are intrinsically fun, which Dungeoneering is. Somehow they've managed to balance the weapons and combat triangle perfectly, as well as simply adding uses to skills that should have been there all along (see Firemaking). I think that we need to wait for Batch 2 before we see the full colours of Dungeoneering though.

UK Politics Discussion
What a shining beacon of free speech and democracy you are. The BNP has only obtained as much of a following and power (Two seats in the European Parliament, one seat in the London Assembly, and many seats in many local councils) as it has because of that kind of attitude towards them, instead of taking on the issues they are raising. Congratulations. Actually they have gained support because lack of publicity means people have no source other than what they say to go by on them. And as the nazis did, unless you look properly and big through stuff they only present thier "nice" policies. That and they are foudned around the area of uk which still has a large portion of the sterotypical chavvy type hate immagrants etc. type. I agree its better to highlight these flaws than ignore the party, but I still think they shuld be outlawed. Nope. The vast majority of those who vote BNP are not racist, homophobic, or otherwise, even if people who run the party are. There would be huge amounts of unrest in the country if it were otherwise. In short, they think that the rate of immigration is too fast, for cultural, social, and economic reasons. Not because of any racial motivation, but because there isn't enough jobs and resources to go around to integrate and support everyone, and everyone who comes here or lives here are losing out because of it. Many believe the major parties aren't dealing with it enough, so a BNP vote isn't for the people who run it, but for dissatisfaction that immigration isn't being dealt with. They're pretty much a single policy party like UKIP, so they almost definitely won't get a seat, but they will hold a number of votes which can be obtained by other larger parties that actually deal with the issues. It irritates me so much when you see people who just act like parrots for what the media say. If people actually thought about things like this, we'd have far fewer problems in this country. EDIT: Oh, and I'm going to make this clear. I'd vote Conservative if I was a few months older, and I would not have had voted BNP. I am merely sympathetic to the reasons why anyone would.

24-Apr-2010 - Jagex Presents... RuneFest 2010
Here's a brief draft of what I am working on: I should make a set of bronze Armour and run around asking for free stooff. Sweet, good idea :) By the way, do you pronounce hyt as 'height'? I always have in my head, but I'm wondering how you might greet a fellow TIFer, aside from the usual greetings such as 'Good day, fine sir', and 'May I interest you in my wares?'

By the way, in the 'did you know', it's Baba Yaga, not Baba Yaba. And that's one that I didn't know, thanks for the tip.

Even factoring in a generous margin of error that's pretty conclusive. Yah, the UK is the best place to go. If you consider the population density and the geographic size, the UK has far more Runescape players per person than the US. Not only that, but the game's made in Cambridge. Why on earth would they do it the US?

North Korea Going Rogue?
I recall this being reported a long time ago. Oh, and it's rogue, not rouge. North Korea is not really a threat to any other country. Sure, it's got a big army, but it doesn't have the money to actually sustain an attack on another country. Any act of invasion would be suicide, so I'd have serious doubts that they would actually attack another country in the first place.

24-Apr-2010 - Jagex Presents... RuneFest 2010
It's a good move, and I think that given there's a minimum age limit (seriously, kids never make an event more enjoyable), and they're serious enough about it to provide alcohol, it would be an enjoyable event for anyone who would want to come. I'd be 18 by then, as well.
