Some people... (Dungeoneering)
Dungeoneering does not have to be done in groups. I have done it solo many times. I don't see this is a real issue, at least not for me. The new skill is EXACTLY like a mini-game/activity. Slayer is not like an activity because you get xp for each and every monster kill during each assignment, not getting all of your slayer xp at the end of the entire assignment (that would make Slayer like a mini-game activity, but it's not even close). With Dungeoneering, you only get xp after completion of each instance. Again, this makes Dungeonerring EXACTLY like a mini-game/activity. I generally have accepted most updates with no complaint, but I think this skill could have been done a bit better. One thing that would have made the skill more fun to train is by allowing some dungeoneering experience to be gained while completing puzzles in the rooms, instead of an "all or nothing" xp reward at the end of each instance. If someone has an Internet issue in the middle of an instance, he/she would lose everything that had been done so far. It happened to me when I was close to finishing a pretty lengthy instance - annoying waste of time that was! Again, I generally have liked most Jagex updates (unlike those that seem to gripe about most of them), but just the one suggestion I gave above would really improve this new skill dramatically! Actually, if you leave before you finish a dungeon, you still get some experience.

Weapons in daemonheim
That's probably a good idea, but I'm yet to get hold of a good spear. Don't forget to poison it, you can also poison bound daggers and spears and they will remain poisoned between floors, so it's an upgrade with no downsides. Here's the three poisons: Weak poison: Level 21 Herblore, Sagewort and Firebreath Whiskey Poison: Level 54 Herblore, Wormwood Leaf and Firebreath Whiskey Strong poison: Level 87 Herblore, Winter's Grip and Firebreath Whiskey

12-Apr-2010 - Dungeoneering Skill!
I think that the biggest reason why Dung (Jagex had that coming) is so much like a minigame is because it has a single location in which to do a certain activity. It's isolated and doesn't apply anywhere else. A skill is more of a concept which can be applied in multiple scenarios and locations. Thankfully, that can be fixed by making new dungeons elsewhere, possibly a tower instead of something underground, with a different visual style, rules, puzzles and enemies, but you have to appreciate that making a new dungeon is infinitely more content heavy than making a new hunter spot. It's huge on concept, but it just hasn't beared fruit as quickly as other skills have. I think we need to be more patient.

Dungeons of Daemonheim trailer from Thejagexchannel
They really need to roll out those particle snow effects. They add a touch of class to the area.

12-Apr-2010 - Dungeoneering Skill!
The more I play this skill, the more I enjoy it. It just has a slow start, that's all. I think this is a skill that you should mostly play on your own, unless you're with someone/a group of people who you know to be competent at the skill and working together. Having a voice conference program such as Skype or Ventrilo helps a lot too.

New RuneScape Main Page
On their add at Jagex.com they have refereed to it as an expansion pack... which I am not a huge fan of as I always rearguard expansion packs as an actual product on a disk, and does not really refer to cloud gaming Eh, an expansion pack is another way of saying 'a big chunk of additional content'. The form it comes in is irrelevant. It does look like a second name though, but at least it's catchy.

Fletching & Dungeoneering
I wouldn't mind if f2p got a limited part to the fletching skill. Members never really cared for it, and it makes no sense why Ranged doesn't have a complimentary f2p processing skill when magic and melee does.

Both. You can get herbs as straight drops, but you can also get herb seeds as drops which can be planted in Farming Patches, without the need for any tools. Wait for a minute or two for it to grow, and then pick it, again requiring no tools. You will get about 4-5 grimy herbs. Of course, I'd advise clearing the next room if there is one available to you while it grows.

Skills or pseudo-skills? The dungeoneering effect
If you look at it engine wise, they've put a lot of effort into making something that's huge and completely new to the game, but finished with only a single chunk of content. I imagine that it won't be long before we see another dungeon that's equally awesome, but completely different, using the same engine.

Does anyone else think that the track 'Born To Do This' is amazingly epic? It's the one you hear at the entrance of Daemonheim.

CAUTION: Java Client is Killing at Random!
Oh, so there is something going round. I've been logged out twice at random, requiring me to put my user and pass back in, and it works normally after that. I'm running RSHD on Windows 7 64-bit.

dungeoneering puzzle
Each one of you should stand on a different pad. Then you have to play a version of the mime random event with the statues, apart from the fact that if one of you gets it wrong, you all take a chunk of damage. EDIT: Oh, and you have to imitate the statue facing you, not the other ones.

Fansite Support (Re-launch)
Because some people care about more than just doing what is easy, expedient or immediately self-serving. And Jagex "asked" Tip.it to do this in the same way that you would "ask" an unruly child to clean his bedroom -- do it or suffer the consequences. But it ISN'T any of those things. Doing what's easy. expedient and self-serving would be to not only let game adverts, but gold selling adverts on the site. How is taking the time out to remove adverts for games easier than saying no to Jagex? And maybe Jagex are using the leverage of letting sites become 'safe sites' but they have EVERY right to do that, and why not? It's beneficial for them to not have competitor ads running. It's beneficial for us to have our name as gold/platinum. So what's the problem? You can't just let Jagex think they can influence the content on this site, if they are using fansites as Runescape advertising branches, they are capable of properly influencing more content by the same system. A site can be safe and still have adverts for other games, which is why this is so irritating. We aren't just a Runescape fansite anyway, a significantly large portion of the tip.it community consist of people who don't play Runescape any more, and God forbid, play different games. We've had a few TF2 events, we talk about other MMOs (and often discuss concepts from those games and see possible applications in Runescape), and it's been good. Do you, tip.it, want that to be threatened? Because some people care about more than just doing what is easy, expedient or immediately self-serving. And Jagex "asked" Tip.it to do this in the same way that you would "ask" an unruly child to clean his bedroom -- do it or suffer the consequences. Except not, as has been explained countless times throughout the thread. At this point if you still feel the way you do, you're going about it the wrong way. If you want to cause change, you should be contacting Jagex, Administrators of fansites, etc. Not posting the same overdiscussed points (that have mostly been disproved, might I add) throughout the life of this thread. I admire your fire and your sense of injustice, but it is impotent when you direct it in such a manner. Sorry, what exactly has been disproved? I haven't seen any of that.

Fansite Support (Re-launch)
Utter nonsense. I'm amazed you would even suggest such a thing -- the counterexamples are too numerous to even list. It must suck for you to go through life with such a defeatist, unempowered attitude. The world would suck just as much if everyone shared it. Not only will such a cooperative not fail, but it *can't* fail. The objective wouldn't be to convince sites to stand up to Jagex -- since it's obvious few have the stones to do so -- but rather to make a more inclusive list that makes a priority out of serving fans and not Jagex. I appreciate your solution, and it might come to that, but before there starts to be some kind of mutual distrust between Jagex and fansites... again, we should try to deal with this particular situation, lest Jagex becomes aware that they've made a mistake. By the way, what do other fansites, especially the platinum ones, think about this? This might require the effort of more than tip.it here.

Fansite Support (Re-launch)
That's a false dilemma, there's also option Ω) Tell Jagex that we don't agree with this situation, as we are perfectly entitled to do. If Jagex are going to be community focused and stick to their original plan set out by Mod MMG, they'll reply and we can initiate a public discussion with whoever is in charge of this system.

Fansite Support (Re-launch)
We're losing a principle, which is far more valuable than a bit of money. Jagex should realise fansites by their intentions rather than by abiding by targets and regulations which reach beyond Jagex's corporate and moral territory. We like Runescape, we follow Jagex rules and principles, we have a great community. That's all that's needed for a stonking good Runescape fansite and should be recognised as such.

Fansite Support (Re-launch)
I have a feeling that if Jagex thought they could get away with banning fansites from even discussing other games, they'd do that too. I'd be incredibly shocked if they did that, though regardless, they have said they did not have a problem with the discussion of games anyway. I think banning adverts for games is petty, but I don't believe they could ever, ever be that petty. Not worth thinking over anyway, as they have said it won't happen. I'm just saying this as a warning really. If Jagex want us and others to be a Runescape-only fansite, and have no affiliation with any competitors, it's going to be a point of contention in the future, and they'll always be able to use their artwork and whatnot as a carrot. *sigh* Jagex really needs to develop some social skills. Using rewards to manipulate fansites for their own ends is not the same thing as friendship.

Fansite Support (Re-launch)
According to the mass of debates over here, no, these forums are not a problem from Jagex's view point. The reason being (IMO), that limiting what users can discuss is a direct violation of Tip.It's independence, while dictating the ads is not really harmful to our users' freedom of speech, creativity, etc. So it's fine to talk about a game other than Runescape in a positive light, and yet not advertise it?
-
Fansite Support (Re-launch)
A few quick questions to Jagex or an Admin: Is it a problem if the off topic board has an entire subforum dedicated to discussing other games? If not, why is it a problem that we had advertisements for other games? Where are we going to draw the line here?

How to catch someone siphoning gas
Although I'm fond of the bear trap idea, it's probably going to end up costing you far more than $100. I'd go to a police station and ask the best way to deal with the situation. They might lend you a camera or a motion sensor light something. Or a bear trap.

People at Stealing Creation
It would help if Jagex balanced it, as well. Daggers should be weaker, ranged armour should be stronger.

Your 126cmb, so you can crash me, right?
Maybe we can stop arguing about who 'deserves' to be at a boss monster and instead come up with a solution to automatically redistribute players in this situation?

Tip.It Adverts Discussion
I think this is fine, given that we won't be losing any revenue because of banned ads, but if they take this any further I think we have a right not to comply.

20 Construction Suggestions
Why do people always forget the Skills Necklace? Ah, forgot about that. It seems a little strange to have the Skills Necklace anywhere apart from in your Skill Hall, though. Maybe it would be more appropriate to have a separate wall mount there?
