  1. Manipulating tabs in Chrome over more than one window works better than Firefox. It's probably because the tab bar is at the very top of the screen so it's easier to go towards, grab, and rip.
  2. Better, just get Microsoft Security Essentials and forget about it.
  3. I don't think anybody thought that they were intended to be Special Quests. Grandmaster quests are simply meant to be more challenging, even to the higher levelled players, and they do that very well. The next one will probably be the 200th quest, given that RFD was the 150th one, so we've still got a long time to go yet. Nobody is disappointed apart from you and your made up expectations.
  4. Eh, i hope they realise that the longer they put off developing real MP3 tracks, the more time consuming it will get to do it in the future. I'm sure most people wouldn't mind saving tracks on their computers if it means that they can listen to really good full orchestra music that changes according to what they do in the game. Not only that, Cambridge is full to the brim of intelligent, creative musicians looking for ambitious projects. Why haven't they started doing this?
  5. I seem to recall hearing that as a reason for never patching a Windows 2000 system or using any sort of security software. (Unfortunately, installing CometCursor did not violate his common sense) The only real use I see for it is possibly as a temporary measure while they test vulnerability patches before publishing, or for unsupported systems. Used for anything else, I can see where it might become an excuse for not fixing serious problems. Either way, it doesn't directly affect me. Heh, I've heard that kind of thing from a lot of people. No, you can have common sense on the internet and still get a virus if you have outdated/no security software, but with MSE, I've found you can have reasonable leeway and still remain virus free fairly effortlessly. I'm not saying this because it's Microsoft, I've had a lot of issues with them concerning other programs and OSs, but I just think they've finally got it right in this category.
  6. I have the same processor, and I agree. AMD processors are perfectly good for whatever money you pay for one.
  7. Chrome, because it now supports extensions, of which there are already over a hundred, and still having ludicrous speed. Even with an ad blocker, it's much faster than firefox and the tab system is much smoother and intuitive for people like me who love multitasking. It's also the better browser for people with multiple monitors.
  8. It wouldn't be Runescape if it was like that. You're supposed to be free to make your own tactics and setups. It makes the game far more difficult to balance, but it makes it much more satisfying to play. So no, Runescape wouldn't be quite as successful if it was class based.
  9. The best thing about it is that it just seems to handle processor and RAM usage so much better than any third-party AV out there. That's probably only because Microsoft developed it, and they would know best when and where there's free RAM or processor capacity to use. Windows update handles the security holes, MSE handles anything that gets through the holes. It's a pretty solid system, so long as you use common sense on the internet.
  10. But what if the "adaptaion" is the loss of thousands of human lives in freak weather events as the global climate becomes more unbalanced, thousands of species die out, and millions are displaced due to the changing global landscape with sea level rises etc. Taking a priveleged western view of how easy it is to 'adapt' doesn't help. Neither is this endless and expensive debate and research. Far more people are going to be thrown into poverty stricken conditions, and global social unrest will kill many more when the oil runs out and we haven't set up a system to compensate in time than some freak weather which we can't do much about. We've wasted about 10 years debating this, I don't want to see us waste another decade.
  11. Can we please just ditch this whole climate change/global warming we-are-making-earth-explode debate? It is so complex that we're spending far too much money into this with no conclusion on the horizon and not enough at developing Hydrogen fuels and energy sources for when the oil runs out, which is the real problem. It is not helping anyone and will do us no good in the future. We will adapt to climate change, evolution has allowed us to survive thus far, and our technology will see us through. Get on with it.
  12. At school, it's probably ok, because it's the school's business. But how can the school punish what students do outside school outside of school hours? It's outside their jurisdiction. Although many schools try to treat students as their own property, they are not. I sincerely hope there is a law to establish this.
  13. Your friend is right. Windows Firewall is perfectly adequate as long as you use common sense on the internet. In fact, Microsoft Security Essentials is also perfectly adequate as an Anti-Virus. Third-party firewalls are unnecessary, but that doesn't stop there being a market for them. It's pretty easy for companies to put up posters saying that your computer is at risk and that what you have is inadequate, and there's no legal way to say that they're lying, and people flock to buy the software because they're scared into it.
  14. Ah right, I see. That's what you're going to get with difficult challenges, people are going to do it for each other. It's still worth having the content though.
  15. Why is it amusing? I haven't got a firecape, but I want a serious goal with serious rewards ahead of me. I don't want to compromise either. Jagex was going in the right direction here.
  16. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8513073. Yeah, I thought Anon. would get into this. If I didn't know and was asked which country was threatening to do this, Australia would be one of the last countries on my mind, far lower down than the UK.
  17. This whole TV-PC integration thing isn't very elegant or efficient right now if you don't have a dedicated media player system in the same room. Maybe it's better to wait it out until prices go down and technology gets better?
  18. Yes there is. If you manage to disprove something, then we needn't have this endless debate and the problem would be solved. Then, we could discuss the consequences, which are far more interesting than the existence of something beyond our comprehension.
  19. Just because America (I don't believe it is right to use the term 'Western', it to a huge tool for generalisation) made the tactical mistake of equipping one of it's enemies, doesn't mean that they ever supported their causes. It just angers people when people from one religion tries to suppress everyone else from doing what is perfectly within their rights. The length of time is also irrelevant, we live in far more enlightened times than 1200 years ago.
  20. Quit squabbling, children. I'd prefer it if Smithing did this primarily instead of Magic, it needs the update much more, and would be far more relevant. Also, there should no longer be weapons or armour that beat weapons or armour of the equivalent level full stop. Every advantage should be balanced with an equivalent disadvantage, a la Team Fortress 2. It would mean that if I upped my Strength bonus of a weapon, speed will drop. If I increase the Prayer Bonus of some armour, attack and strength bonuses go down, possibly becoming negative. It'll be a matter of tailoring your equipment for certain situations, and having a high smithing level means you can do this yourself. I reckon the best way to implement this would be to introduce 5 'enhancements', allow the dust to settle, and then add 5 more. This can't be introduced all at once. If it works, and PvP/BH worlds become much more popular, we've already taken the items out of circulation (far more efficiently than the old Wilderness), so we don't need to make the changes irreversible. Maybe it would be possible to revert items to their previous form if you have 10 levels above what you needed to perform the 'enhancement', but 99 smiths can revert any of them. I'd train Smithing for that.
  21. If you have a prayer level above about 60, and a agility level above 65, you can simply use prayer for any fights you encounter (I agree with warrior that you should always slay the snakes and talon beasts). I personally have proselyte body and legs, a mitre and cloak, falador shield 2 (but I plan on getting hold of 3), rfd barrows gloves, dragon boots, and a whip unless other weapons are required. Take the shortcut to the temple whenever you get to it and recharge your prayer, and it usually lasts for the whole trip, meaning very few losses. Of course, take an emergency prayer potion and the other equipment you need. Huge hint: If you burn 50 Vyrewatch corpses, you will become better with the flail, in terms of strength, attack and defence against Vyrewatch and Juvinates, all the way until you burn 500. You also get some good rewards from burning them. If you've got some time on your hands and enjoy Trekking and Mort'ton Temple building, it might be worth trying to kill enough so killing Vyrewatch becomes quite efficient. It's also just another goal if you're the completist type.
  22. I don't do that many clues, but my bank has slowly fallen apart anyway, so we're dealing with something bigger. The bank interface, while good in principle, still gradually descends into chaos with nearly every activity, not just Uri clues, so we could try to deal with that instead. A very large topic floating around here suggested the ability to 'lock' items and form place-holders, and automatically move items to where they were if they are removed and replaced. Almost all suggestions are there to solve problems, as opposed to standalone content. In this case, my suggestions are trying to solve this particular problem, and help with other things along the way.
  23. I think the answer might be to have more training/resource spots that require skills to access, but are otherwise equally convenient. That way, you can benefit from your skills and get at less crowded spots.
  24. I believe so, but the problem came up again when a norwegian newspaper decided to print the picture recently. Honestly they have the right to print anything they want, but when it's clearly a provacing carciture, not being a joke, and having a very serious subject, the person responsible should have been smarter and not print it. IF i was leader of all muslims, and they printed it. I would tell all my fellow muslims to demonstrate in a good way against the carciture. I would not allow violence, threatning, burning of flags and so on. Politicians, newspapers, organization etc...they do everything they can to profit from doing something. Example, a politician had the carciture of Muhammad as his Facebook profile. What was his motives? Probably status. Point: They try to profit from negative things going on in society. I don't think that this guy's thinking was that shallow. He knew it would offend, the idea was to demonstrate that far too many Muslims are far too violent about their religion. The meaning of the caricature was not on the paper. The meaning of the caricature was on the actions of the protesters.
  25. Nice laptop, it's got more RAM than my desktop PC right now (2GB ). It should run it fine, so long as you have a stable connection.
