  1. Actually, even completely pure water contains a small quantity (1.0* 10-7 moldm-1) of ions, H3O+ and OH-, because it self-ionises. Therefore it does conduct electricity and can still potentially damage delicate components. Of course, the conductivity is much lower than if it is not distilled, and a keyboard is probably the least delicate part of a computer, so it's still a good idea. Sorry, had to let out the Chemistry geek inside me for that one.
  2. Wrongo. Anything earned in this game is worth exactly $0.00 That's why Jagex is making the effort to bring the hacker to justice, not the account creator. Accounts are worth money to Jagex, because it's how the company runs its games. It's like me lending a bike out to a friend for free, and then someone else takes the bike without my permission. Although the friend hasn't bought the bike or added value to it, it's still worth money to me and has therefore been stolen.
  3. What, more important than stealing? They may as well not bother with people stealing cars or shoplifting, because after all, they have more important things to deal with. This has been a long time coming, and if they get a conviction it will really help with the effort of taking down virtual goods theives. I would have thought this guy would be behind a few proxies, and it doesn't seem to have helped.
  4. Yeah, I think I can live with numbers, themes and locations for now. Sure, they're far from memorable, but that's going to be true no matter how unusually you name them. On the other hand, I'd like the ability to make custom themes, so I can assign things like 'Tip.It' and 'Fav Bounty Hunter' to the themes list, which might solve the problem as well as being a handy feature.
  5. 91 RC should stay as the last 100% double rune as it is now, but the article brings up a very valid point. Like the article said, as you progress farther in skills like woodcutting, the higher your level the more logs you can produce per hour. You don't suddently stop producing more logs per hour at 91 woodcutting, and the same should be said with runecrafting. The curve should be extended all the way to 99 giving triple chances for natures, and double chances for deaths, laws, and bloods. But there should be no need to add in any 100% guarentee for double/triple runes. Extending the curve to 99 should be fine in this case. Agreed. I really don't understand why Jagex didn't do this, it must have crossed their minds at some point. I've heard that Jagex want to work on filling up the 90+ regions of skills over the next year, this would have been an easy way to get Runecrafting out of the equation.
  6. I think you've been living under a rock for a tad too long. Virtually nobody votes for the BNP for what they stand for, they vote to get the other parties to listen to the people who have been alienated. Although I will be just underage this time (Birthday's in August), I would have seriously considered whether to vote for the Conservatives or the BNP. Okay, then imagine the majority do that, what then? That's not going to happen. Sorry, it just won't, our political culture doesn't have the capacity to do that in one election. If the Conservatives screw up regarding the EU (As in do the same thing Labour did), discrimination policy (Doing nothing about the obvious 'positive discrimination' measures and groups) or immigration (do nothing about it), a rise BNP vote would make them listen. I don't know at what point I'd snap, but I like to have the capacity to do so. It's the equivalent of shouting to politicans 'You're doing it wrong, fix it now!'. For the record, I'd vote Conservative right now if I could.

  8. It is commonly believed that the previously non existant still don't work :) That's a pity, that would have given the skill a worthwhile 99 and be able to tick it off the list.
  9. Yes, exactly. No, I don't like non combat games. I love to barrage in SC. And if I see a 1 itemer, I'll farcast and barrage them until they're dead. I just find it unfair how mages and rangers have to gather a bunch of clay to be able to pk, while meleers only need 1 clay and if they die, they can just turn on Protect Item and keep their dagger. But if mages and rangers die we have to collect new runes and arrows first. not to mention that the spells and bows are twice as slow as the dagger. I think the answer is to make melee weapons out of three separate parts, requiring one clay each of the appropriate level. If you protect item, you only get back one of the parts instead of the entire dagger. It would even up the clay requirements of each class a little, as well as making it difficult for one-itemers using weapons higher than level 3.

  11. Although I agree about 'noob', the term 'go home' means 'go off the internet'. Nobody actually has the internet as their 'home', and it's a common occurance to refer to websites and games as places away from home, because our language has had to cope with such a new concept relatively quickly. 'Poor for my level' is like talking about the average person. You are never going to meet an actual average person, there is no such thing, but you can come up with what the average person's income is at a certain age by taking a group of representative people at that age, add together their incomes and divide by the number of people. In this way, you can say in game whether you are 'poor' or 'rich' for your level, by comparing yourself with other players at a similar level. Sorry for being pedantic, but those last two statements are legitimate, if a bit weird if taken literally.
  12. Everyone gets that feeling after losing a significant chunk of their value, including me. It's perfectly natural, and the vast majority of people choose to keep going and make their way back up because they don't want to end on a low note. Oh, and I usually only have ~1M in coins on me or less, the rest I spend on equipment, so I think it's safe to say that you can 'survive' on over 50M.
  13. Personally, I don't think it should have a really big reward, because anything proportional in power to the effort required to complete the theoretical number of challenges would destroy a large section of the player experience of the game. Instead, have something really amazing in cosmetic terms, but that should be it.
  14. Cambridge is a beautiful city though, it's one of those places that you have to go to once in your life. If I lived in America, I'd do it just to visit the place, meeting the Jagex team would just be a big bonus.
  15. The scan was too fast to be that complex. I doubt that a macroing site would last long, macroing just isn't efficient enough to be worth it.
  16. This game isn't exactly Crysis here, I think we can agree that there has been much more effort into gameplay than graphics. Anyway, it's all about gameplay and graphics working together, it wouldn't be too healthy for the game if both were ignored completely. It's been a while since High Detail now, it's about time Jagex moved on to slightly more advanced graphical techniques like particles and bloom. I sent my specs in as soon as I saw the post.
  17. Here's an update of my computer, I've got a new Trust webcam (the original one didn't and will never work on Win7), and a little LG cookie phone to store files. CPU: AMD AM2+ Athlon Dual-core 2.7 GHz overclocked to 3.1GHz RAM: 5GB DDR2 800 PSU: Octigen, can't read the power without taking it out, and really can't be bothered to do so Case: Antec 902 Monitor: 3x Avidav M1941DB LCD (all DVI) Speakers: SOFTTE ST-Q8MV headphones (professionally patched up with duct tape), and UBL Pro speakers Hardrive: 32GB Hitachi (Windows XP), 500GB Maxtor (Windows 7) Motherboard: Asus, can't find model number right now, nForce 750a SLI chipset Optical drive: Asus multi DVD/CD rewriter Graphics card: Nvidia 9400 GT (left and centre monitors), HDMI iGPU (right monitor) USB stuff: Trust multimedia keyboard, Trust Mouse, Trust minicam, 4 way hub/mousemat, Iomega 7in1 card and floppy reader, Canon iP1800 printer, Bluetooth dongle in mousemat, LG Cookie Phone Non-USB stuff: Micromark air conditioner, desk light
  18. Currently, I have a one port router in our living room right behind the TV, a Panasonic Viera with a mysterious unused ethernet port amongst others. The router's connected to the internet, and then an ethernet cable which is embedded in a wall running into our only computer in the next room. I'm running Windows 7, and I have a codec pack installed to play DVDs and other stuff. I'd like to turn the PC into a mini media centre for the TV, but without moving it or building a dedicated one. I've heard about streaming media from a PC to a TV, but I don't entirely know how to go about this. I'd rather there are no other cables running between the rooms, and don't own a 360 or a PS3 (I don't really want to get one either). It would be even nicer if streaming HD content is possible. I'm willing to get a two or more port router. I have a ~3.0GHz dual core AMD processor, 5GB RAM, and an NVidia 9400 GT 1GB graphics card. My question is this: Can I do it, should I do it, and what is the cheapest way to do it?
  19. I think it's one of those things to show that Runescape's history is far greater than what we know. Apparently there's an archive in Jagex HQ about Runescape history which they use for consistency, and I doubt that the stones (which I presume to be an ancient site of religious or magical importance) aren't mentioned in it.

Gah, this topic has made me manually breathe. Must... keep... living... On average I breathe about the same through both nostrils, but I'm always getting a clogged up nose and have probably gone for weeks surviving on just the right or left one without realising. I also catch myself mouth breathing unintentionally every so often.
  21. When that happens, it usually signals that you need to give the area underneath your keys a good clean. It probably only happens on certain games because that's where you are going to press a key down for a long time.
  22. I can. It'll probably involve court cases with Penguins and other childish NPC's. I don't mind that Runescape has a childish element to it; it keeps things fresh sometimes. It just seems like they're coming out with updates lately that are lacking in substance. It's based off a murder trial concerning a noble family, poison, a few knights, kidnapping and imprisonment. I don't think it's going to be childish. Sounds like a good premise to me, I think the best way would be to release 10 easy, 10 medium and 5 hard cases, then make a 'court summons' as a drop twice as rare as a clue scroll. This would assign you to a random case you haven't completed, regardless of how you obtained the summons. Jagex can then add any new cases when it's appropriate.
  23. Normally, you use 'thee' before words starting with vowels and 'thuh' before words starting with consonants, similar to 'a' and 'an'. As for 'a', people usually say 'uh' which nearly flows into the next word ('uh') for speed, but sometimes say 'ay' so that it causes a break mid-sentence for emphasis and effect when appropriate. The exception is when saying the letter or just mentioning the word itself, when it's always 'ay'.
  24. Replacing a laptop HDD is usually simple, if a tad fiddly. I'd charge about £10 to install if it had an access panel or £30 if it's a bit more complicated. However, shops will probably charge about £35 to £40.
  25. That's a fine laptop for that price, and honestly I wouldn't want to get a much more powerful laptop than that, considering their lifespan. Go for it.
