  1. Eh. I can see why they picked him, the remaining forwards are definitely risky picks. I don't think it's a pick that really fills a need on the team (although hopefully he breaks the Leafs tradition of picking up d men who have bad hands, make bad decisions and take too many penalties) I think they'll be looking to make a trade for a big forward before the season starts, but don't think it'll happen
  2. Saw an interesting idea about defenders. Basically, they would give a boost to offense (not as much as dual wielding), but also allow abilities such as heroism that require a shield to be used. Just speculation though.

  6. So, claws are getting split into main hand and offhand claws. It sounds like they are 75% each, as opposed to a 50% offhand weapon. So perhaps they will keep a place as a powerful offensive offhand, but it would depend on their stats. Ancients being changed: "Mod Rathe: Ancient spells have been renamed slightly and now fall in line with the 4 basic elements: Smoke > Gale (Air Element) Shadow > Rock (Earth Element) Blood > Bloodfire (Fire Element) Ice stays the same (Water Element)"
  7. So it looks like rune crossbow by itself has much higher dps than a whip? I guess it depends what "bonus" means, and what the different abilities for range and melee do.

  9. Woah :shock: Really wasn't expecting dual wielding. Looks amazing, though. I imagine that dual wielding will be standard for training/slayer. Pvp, who knows? That defensive ult with the shield looks incredibly strong, I guess it's sort of a trade off where you won't have much chance of killing your opponent but you won't die easily either. I imagine it might be better to deal with that attack by making sure you don't kill them while the ult is still running. The range/melee hybrid was cool too, so I guess that is the future of hybriding, instead of having to switch everything. Could mean some very interesting bind choices need to be made in dungeoneering. If monsters don't get too much strong, I bet we''ll see dual wield binds become common in high level dgers. Also hope I don't need to have duplicates of all of my chaotic weapons lol
  10. Ronaldo has been absolutely unreal in the last 2 games. Also expecting an easy German victory tomorrow.
  11. A lot of people are predicting a Czech upset, but we'll see. I think it's going to come down to Ronaldo really. If he plays like he did in their last game, Portugal will roll over the Czechs. I think Germany and Spain will go through. I'm a bit conflicted on the England/Italy game because those are the 2 teams that I'd like to see win the most. If I have to make a prediction, I'll say England.

    Today...

    I'm glad we don't do SATs here. I know that I would have done well on it, but my study habits were terrible in high school and it would have been pretty stressful. I just finished a project at work and sent it to my supervisor, but he is away until early next week. So I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to be doing right now. Hence the fact that I'm browsing TIF at work. I guess I will ask the grad student who works in the office with me if there's anything I can help him with.
  13. Fps problems are not lag. Pir "And here I was thinking you guys knew what lag is" kka Correct, but Jagex admitted that there was an issue on their end that caused a lot of people to have low fps. He never mentioned lag, he said that when Jagex "fixed" the fps problems, he started having fps problems of his own.
  14. I can see a plate bind becoming the priority bind over blood neck or hood, if armour is the only way to get these lp boosts. I don't think gathering will ever happen :P As for weapons, who knows!
  15. It makes sense if all combat classes truly are about the same strength, and if hybridding is discouraged through the use of cooldown penalties.
  16. Yeah that's what I was saying. You end up in a situation where all pvp fights (where both players want to fight) occur between the same combat class OR you get to watch a really sad hybrid fight where both players keep switching in order to gain a combat triangle advantage but can't ever use any abilities (no ko potential) because of the cooldown penalty. But yes, it's all speculation until we can test it for ourselves. I just really do not trust Jagex to correctly interpret the current meta game or implement a system that encourages a different metagame that is still fun.
  17. I don't know if I like how they're penalizing armour switching. It kills hybridding first of all, and it also means that you're really being forced into the rock-paper-scissors system of the combat triangle. You have your style, and you can only beat 1 of the 3. No one who is ranging will stay and fight a meleer, no one maging will fight a ranger, etc. So "fair" fights are limited to fights between people using the same class. It could also be the death of bosses like dagannoth kings where you are using different corners of the triangle to fight 3 bosses in a short amount of time. I guess pvm should mostly be fine as long as weapon switching isn't penalized though. I get what they're trying to do, but I'm not sure how it's going to work in practice.
  18. Yeah I was wondering about pures only being level 102 also, but I suppose everything is speculation until we see for ourselves. In the current system a 50/50/50 would get destroyed by a 99/99/1, but perhaps the defensive skills and lifepoint boosts are enough to create a situation where the guy with 50 defence is tanky enough that he won't die easily? Seems almost counter intuitive to what they've said about pures though.
  19. The way I look at it: In pvp, assume everyone else has 95 prayer In pvm, don't believe anyone who says they have 95 prayer unless you look them up
  20. Yeah seriously, everyone who has 99 prayer and summoning is essentially becoming 24 levels lower (in terms of the old system)
  21. Well, I guess I will be level 200. Combat formula released in the latest blog: X + Defence level +2 = your Combat level. (X = your highest stat level from Magic, Ranged, Attack or Strength). I feel like this will create some weird situations where players with a higher attack than strength level will end up being really weak, unless the special abilities unlocked through defence make up for that. Apparently you will only get experience for things within 30 levels of you (50 at first so they can add more monsters). Hmm. Not sure how I feel about this. I don't think there are currently enough monsters around our level for this to really be viable, but I guess that's why they're expanding the range temporarily until they add higher level training dungeons. Monster combat levels will also be reworked so we don't know how this will go yet. I guess the most glaring issue I see is that people who want to train slayer will occasionally get assigned a task of monsters that are a bit lower level, so you might end up doing some slayer tasks where you get no combat exp? Prayer, summoning, constitution no longer have any effect on combat level. Well, I feel like bones and summoning ingredients are going to skyrocket for a bit as pures try to catch up. Pretty much everyone will have to have 95 prayer to keep up. Summoning won't change much I guess. From a personal standpoint, I'm not sure if I really like the combat calculation. All of those people who were previously 130 something and missing some summoning or prayer levels will jump to max level, and there won't really be a good way to assess their potential (especially in pvm) without looking them up on the highscores. I also take some pride in the fact that I was one of the first people to reach 138, but that's more of a sentimental reason :mrgreen:

  24. I don't know why people are upset, this is exactly what they advertised it to be in the BTS. I'm not much of a pvper (and can't afford to gear myself well enough to beat other maxed people), so I probably won't spend much time here... but I think the supreme weapons are interesting and I'll probably hang around in there for a bit so I can see that for myself. I was thinking the weapons seemed kind of meh, but if the bow is that strong and shoots dart speed... you could pretty much destroy everyone. I wonder if the staff gives a casting speed bonus? I also like how in addition to being invincible, you have the ability to teleport to/force people to come to you, and then hit them with a multi combat special.
  25. Just make sure to do stuff like Livid Farm before maxing, because it's a lot of experience wasted to be doing that for comp cape if you're already 99 in the relevant stats.
