Haha I was just getting nervous when Spain scored, because a 1-1 tie in the Spain-Croatia game would have eliminated Italy.

Wasn't able to watch the games today other than the last 5 minutes of the Italy-Ireland game (awesome goal scored by Balotelli (sp?)), but the results today were pretty much expected. Croatia played well, but anything else would have been a huge upset. The England-Ukraine game tomorrow could be interesting, and it'll be Wayne Rooney's first game back from his suspension... hopefully he plays well and is ready for the quarterfinals (assuming they make it).

Been all over Reddit for the last week, pretty funny. It started as the lawyer of a relatively large website trying to bully The Oatmeal into giving in and paying the money to avoid dealing with the legal hassle... but since Funnyjunk is the only site who is actually doing anything illegal (hosting comics without permission), the lawsuit was pretty much bound to fail. And now, he's got himself into a mess where he has hundreds of thousands of random people on the internet who are sending him hatemail and donating to The Oatmeal to spite him. His case has no legs to stand on (all statements made by The Oatmeal were true), and Funnyjunk is still hosting half of their content without permission. His solution? Sue the American Cancer Society! A high profile charity with a history of winning large scale legal battles.

Great games today, it is kind of a shame to see some good teams get eliminated due to that incredibly tough group, but I think overall Portugal and Germany did deserve it the most. Netherlands showed some skill up front, but their defence was pretty weak and they didn't work together well. Regardless of your opinions on the guy, Ronaldo had an amazing game - he looked dangerous every time he touched the ball, and with a bit of luck he could have had 4-5 goals that game. I only watched parts of the Germany/Denmark game, but Germany continued to look strong. I think Denmark would have had a shot if they were switched with one of the group A teams, just an unlucky draw for them.

They're right to turn it off, but it's funny that they don't know why Doors on critical path will always be close (someone more active in dgs should know exactly) to the level of whoever is the highest in that skill in your party. Therefore, when you see a door give low experience you know it's not critical path, etc.

Eh. I guess this can be closed. Documents were backed up. It was mostly a miscommunication error. They asked if documents had been backed up, to which the answer was yes. So then they said okay great, sign here on this permission to delete data form, nothing to worry about. But the way they said it, they never explicitly said they would reformat/set it back to factory state, they just told my friend that she needed to have things backed up. So yeah, partly a miscommunication on their part, and partly my friend not understanding that there is no such thing as a partial data wipe. I wasn't there when the form was signed or I would have explained what it meant. Bleh. Means a few hours of reinstalling programs and getting rid of default junk. She'll need to drive to campus and physically burn some dvds from the lab. Things like web browser bookmarks are gone.

Not me, but a friend had a warranty on their laptop. It started having issues, so they sent it in under the warranty to have it repaired. When the laptop returned a few weeks later it was back to the factory default state. Files gone, programs removed, all the default junk like Norton had been put back on. Is this what always happens? I've never personally had to send one in, so I don't really have any experience with it. It just seems absolutely ridiculous to send a computer to be "fixed" and then instead find out that they've created more problems than there were to begin with. Wouldn't it be reasonable to at least say in advance "hey, we think we need to reformat to fix the problem... is that okay?"

What I'm getting from this is that if I ever feel like buying spins, I should wait until those stupid ceremonial outfits have all been removed so I have a chance of actually getting some lucky spirit shields or something

I like this analogy. As someone who recognizes the serious nature of cancer, I don't like the over the top and frankly immature analogies the RuneScape community is prone to making. We're going to have to start paying extra for membership to cover Jagex's gas bill

So the bleed effect carries over between phases at nex? What about when you kill the mages, does the bow reset the bleed effect if you attack something else? And for that matter, how long does a bow last from 100%->0?

Talk about making the Royal Crossbow dead content. Depends entirely how useful the bow is. If it's the best bow for killing something, then there will be a demand for it. I've never used it though, and don't really know much about it so I can't say what will happen.

I believe the xp rate of bonfires is higher than regular FM too. But pyrelord double fm is still the fastest.

I don't think there's any way that they're suddenly going to do what is the literal equivalent of turning non combat skills into combat skills. Remember the uproar over herblore when extremes/overloads were released? It wouldn't be as bad if it was limited to pvm, but I still think it would end up creating situations where you'd end up needing to train non combat skills to remain competitive at bosses, or get the best slayer exp rates or whatever.

Yep. Abilities will be unlocked from levelling combat skills only (including hp). Firemaking and agility explicitly confirmed not to do anything. Lol sorry, and yeah I understand. Thanks though, it was helpful in tracking down all of the mod's comments.

I think that a lot of the balancing will come from the fact that literally every item is going to have its stats reworked Hard to tell how the special abilities will play out though, stuff like those stunning abilities that Jagex demonstrated for mages will have to be tested by players and worked into the metagame before we see what effect it has

I think for me, this biggest thing is how this will translate to pvm. Will bossing suddenly become way easier? Way harder? What about dungeoneering? Will this let mage and range become a viable choice as your primary combat class? Will weapon varieties be introduced to binds, or will it simply switch the "best" bind to a different weapon?

Assuming this is on pc, you can use the cheat console to automatically skip or trigger quest scenes, and also to teleport to npcs who disappear when they're needed

I'd hope/assume the EE special (both forms) will be abilities unlocked via the task sets. So it keeps the same basis just means it can be used elsewhere. Now I'm speculating, but I don't think this will be the case for the EE They did say however that they want to have unlockable abilities as quest rewards and stuff though, so I suppose the idea of unlocking them through diaries is plausible EDIT: This thread contains all info given by j mods so far.
