  1. I found it a good quest :) It had the same developer as enlightened journy, and I feel it felt! Although it was pretty much a "fetch item X" quest, the story and humor was good. I often enjoy how jagex developers are able to show their personality in the work they do. For example Mod Ash, has this thing about the drunken Dwarf :P, although he has said that the sandwich lady is a no go zone :(. The most important thing that keeps the game going is the story, it is a full and working world, where we can forcast what is coming next.... and this is what people playing.
  2. It caused a right mess on the offical rants forum :wall: "Z0mg!! wot r Jatix gonna d0?!?!" But yes, I found it very funny :P Posty pete FTW!
  3. 89 firemaking, but this is only by 90k xp. My cooking and woodcutting are also 89 If we are counting combat stills, then 95 attack s my best.
  4. With the amount of time I spend on the offical forums, I ahve seen this post before, and I have even quoted the same messages a few time when modding.... It's good that jagex are telling people how much they do, staying quite was not a good option, as it did not scare people out of trying. As for the IP banning thing, all though it wont stop the goldfarmers, and major autoers, it is still used, as it will get rid of alot of "players" who dont know how to change it. IP banning is a great thing jagex do, and although they have always done it, I only learned they did it recently. I alway quote this when people are ranting about "why dont jagex IP ban?"
  5. Kebbab related death :P back when i was F2P a few years back, I ate on on low health :(.
  6. My issue is not with the quest guides...... it's more with the fact that people are missing the storylines of the quest, and so the game. I feel it should be the fan sites duty to try and add some of this in.
  7. Its important to remember that which ever method you use to pay, Jagex still revive the same amount for it, so its unfair to say that its overpriced because of the pay by phone option..... It is beyond jagex'es control. I think the price is very cheap! very very cheap! When you look at it incomparason to console games, a new console game in engalnd will cost around ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã30, and people after buying these will probaly play them for only a few weeks, before putting them down and never touching them again, others will make you pay ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã30 and then monthly subscription for online membership. Runescape however (to round down) costs the price of a new game, for an entire year!!! and lets not forget the fact that you can play for free.
  8. Jagex are very much in favour of freedom of speach! It really annoys me when people claim that us english live in the dark ages. You need to understnad the point that where we ask people not to discuss things on the official forums it is to protect players. There is NO repression in the game atall. Even the rule about not discussing other MMORPG's on the forums is not for just to protect jagex'es business. They have explained this to me...... Jagex wish to beable to protect the players of the game, and would prefer their players to not have contact on an environment out of the game (as a result of meeting on the game) as, assoon as they are out of the controled environment they cant help to protect. If players where giving out things like say charicter names on other games, this could be used to meet them externaly. Of corse, Jagex dont want defimination of their company on thier forums too..... I mean if you owned a company would you like people saying how bad you are on your forums? This does not mean jagex do not care what people have to say, they do care...... its just they would prefer it to be sent directly to them.
  9. I do hold allot of respect for fan sites, personally I can see they add alot of good unto the game. There are a few things I disagree with them some times though...... for example, I fully understand that allot of people wish to do quests for the rewards but hate quests...... or alternatively they are simply stuck and need a bit of help... so turn to a quest guide. Now quest guides are all very good, but it is impossible to argue that they don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t subtract from game enjoyment, I used to use quest guides, for every quest. I learnt nothing I feel by using them, i missed out of the story line of the game, and it̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s not something that can be replaced. In turn the lack of involvement in the game story mean players to not feel as connected and so can actually loose interest in the game, and eventually quit. I feel fan sites such as tip.it can combat this, be reviewing the guides policy (or having one at all) you could solve this problem, and educate players whilst helping them. For other things, like drop lists, tips for where to train, and good ways of playing, I totally respect, it's not something Jagex could really do, and maintain their respecibility as a gaming company, but it is still good information. I also love fan site forums, I am a moderator on the official forums, and they are total different to here. The Official forums are HUGE, and must surly be one of the worlds busiest forums, this is NOT a good thing..... We have to enforce very strict rules to maintain the community, where if we gave slack it would be abused, we are also very open to hackers trying to get an account banned, and so we could not ever allow pictures for example. Also if we where to have images, you could imagine what a key logger threat it would be (the official forums are 100% safe) But forums on fan sites such as this one, do not have these diseconomies of scale, the community is much smaller, and in many respects much more mature, by having less people you can monitor much more closely and this helps to build a nice helpful community...... sure you get some who are only here because they got banned from the official forums, but from what I have seen it is better. From other aspects, I love how fan sites have such a large clan support system, I personally am not in a clan, and don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t intent to be ever, but again I feel its something fan sites could do much better than Jagex ever could. I understand allot of jagex policies though, for example I know that they will never recommend a fan site, or 3rd party programs, and will never say they are safe, no matter how many people ask, this is because there are allot of "noobs" who play runescape, who will turn anything that jagex say back on them if it goes wrong. "ZOMG I download a program and got H4x0rd!!, I blame you" But I do feel Jagex supports fan sites allot more than they say, in terms of what you said, of jagex cant check up on all sites and programs, I would not be so sure..... There is a whole customer support team, who are there to manage the wider community, and do check allot of fan sites.... I feel I have written more than I was expecting here, so I may stop writing now and more and I will start repeating my self for the 2nd or 3rd time . -Bobb out-
  10. We (the official forum mods) are planning to bring them back in a larger way, currently we have the ocasional one, but hopefully we can do more. Although Jagex often likes to be involved, its organised by the mods, and one imparticular :) (not me) i'll let you know when the next one is on when i know.
  11. It's another great artical, I have a lot of respect for the people who write these, whilst I have never been a bad player, at one point I made no special effort to be 'nice' to players ingame, I was just who I was. But about 1.5 years ago, I began to try and change who I am in real life, and tried to be a better person. I made sure I pushed this ingame, and I always pretended to be a better person than I realy was, The real world me folowed. Being a nice person makes you a nicer person! I am a better person because of this game! and i'm darn proud of it. Ive always never understood the nieavity (I wish i could spell :P) of playes who say "pixal lovers" etc, it is clear to me that they totay lack the ability to have empathy, good on them if they instantly get over an insident if it happens to them, but anyone should understand that we are all realy people. Items = Pixals This equasion is true! items in the end of the day are just pixals, but wait what is this equasion missing? Time! Time is needed for a player to collect these pixals, without time you dont get your pixals. So! Time = Pixals! This is also true! but whats that phrase that often people often say? Time = Money and so Items = Money So surely you could argue that losing an ingame item can be related to a real life loss, you have lost the time and effort that you have put into gaining an item. Time is what people are proud of, time is why people respect the guy with 70 attack and a whip. We dont love pixals, we love time, and a loss of time ingame IS a loss of time in life.
  12. Quite an intresting idea actually; I shall call it "the shadow realm!" would this minigame (?) be a safe minigame? or would you lose items in it?
  13. I've done all quests :), I could not say how long it has taken though due to the work inbetween them, but I belive I first finnished all quests when "making history" was released.
  14. I would say I'm a rs2 product, starting mid-late 2004. I wish I was around before, but im not sure if I would have ever played RSC so its possibly a good thing. Just as a tip, get rid of the exact dates from your first post, its one of the things that can be used as evidance in account recovery, and so is not somthing you should write on a public forum.
  15. I am a forum moderator on the offical forums, and we are trying to bring them back. Infact we did actually have one on the 6th i think (possibly a day before of after) it was "HAM vs BAM" where normal player wore ham robes, and us mods wore green gnome robes. It was fun and even 2 jmods came :) we marched from lumby, to cwars, and then had a big fight! Mod_burgess vs Mod_Mark_H. My apologies if you are refering to Tip.it moderators..... But the proper Greenies are doing it :)
  16. Your game physics degree is backing up your claims of course?, oh wait you dont have one? then let andrew gower decide whats possible. Rsc wouldnt have to be rewritten at all, the codes all there it just has to be intergrated into the server and linked to a portal. I'm sorry but I find that really very rude, I spend alot for time on the offical forums, and read alot of jagex moderator posts about the issue, I have a large understanding gathered over the last 2 years of forum use, of what is and is not possible. Andrew him self said inresponce to RS communicating to RS2 that it is simpaly nolonger possible, they are totaly different games, running on totaly different game engines, and the RuneScript has had so many changes since RS2 that it is just not possible for them to communicate.
  17. I've heard this suggestion many times before (mainly at its release) and I still agree with it. So Bobbington supports! :P My only think is..... there is probally some reason why it was no done in the first place? :-k
  18. Its not actually possible. The two games are totaly different, and can nolonger communicate. RSC would have to be TOTALY rewritten for this to work, and frankly it will not be done (as that was the whole point of the release of rs2. Sorry but there is no realistic way it could happen.
  19. I really could not agree with this, I have alot of respect for level 3 skillers, and this would be really unfair. I am sure there must be a better solution to the issue.
  20. Hi Shadowcheval, thanks for the feedback on that. :)
  21. Strength, and attack I belive actually.
  22. I dont know who Muggiwhplr is if that answers the question? Its only a temp one untill I make a better one anyway :). As for your point, I feel that not alot of high levels do quit actually, we tend to be addicted, and stuck in the habbit. Its hard to stop playing. But when a high level does quit, it tends to be more highprofile.
  23. I personaly disagree, whilst in the simplest of ways, me being a member of the game is worth ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã3.20 a month to jagex ($5 for you americans) now I feel as a high level, and many othere high levels, we add to the game. Whilst we are only directly responsable for $5, indirectly we are probaly worth alot more, this is though our knowledge of the game, the general maturity, and some other small features. If you look at if from a different angle, if you where to open a bank account, that gave you a debit and credit card, the bank will give you a lower intrest on the investment as your money is not secure, and may disapear at any time. In this situation a Low level "newb" is a bank account with a credit card. however High levels, are like a longterm investment account, our money is locked in there for several years, and is unlikely to be removed. Banks offer longterm investment accounts a HIGH intrest rate, as their money is classed as secure.
  24. For F2P I would ahve to say either runecrafting or prayer. But as prayer is much easyer to train, I would ahve to vote finnaly for runecrafting.
  25. If your counting Black as a metal, I would vote black.... If not it has to be steel. Its shiny!
