  1. I understand that I am being very negative when it comes to your posts so i will sumarise what I agree with that you said: Band members should not be able to return on a differnt account! basically they should not be in the community any longer, however the problem comes with the set of up the game, your are allowed to play from any computer, more than one person may use a computer, it is possible to change computer identifications such as IP adresses. With this I dont think it's possible without a confession from a player..... they could track credit card payments and decline payments from banned accounts..... however then they are starting to mess with credit ratinging..... that is not a good place for Jagex to head, especially as the card holder is often differnt than the account owner given the main audience of the game. 400 charicter is not enough, plain and simple I have always objected to this, and have explained my resonings several times..... it's probaly a waste of time explaining my reasons to non jagex people though.... as most players know it. The use of premade replys I will be carfull how I word this one, in most cases I support the use of premade answers full for a number of very important reasosn, as I said I use my own set that i have saved in a word document for easy reference..... it improves the level I can work to and allows me to get the correct infomation across, But there are some cases where a little more time should be spent. I must stress though these are problems with individual Jagex staff, and not Jagex as a whole. Jmods I communicate with are very good. My main problem though is you seem to guess an awfull lot and try to state it as a fact, im not daft and know alot about customer service and law (in many areas) and am not the best person to try and blag off with comments about them.
  2. Frankly I have great respect for sites such as Tip.it, and that is why I use it..... However it would be a mistake in my view point to link it from the runescape site. As darkblade said Jagex have no control over the content of the sites, and with a company in the business like jagex, they would need to empose ALOT of guidlines on finsites to bring them into line. Also you have to remember that unlike games such as warcraft, and other major MMORPGs Runescape is alot cheaper, and that piled with its gaming style it appeals more to the caula or younger gamer. Both of these groups are vunrable on the net, they tend to have less web safty. Jagex as a company is very responsible over protecting it's community, and so they prefer to keep them in an envrionment where they can be protected, if you look at forum such as this one they are at higher risk. Currently they are fairly safe as it's a small community, but by linking people here, you will be left with alot of scammers hackers etc, there is no censor on this forum an that would become a major issue. It would put mass pressure on the sites and will probaly detract from them. The runescape site it pratically totaly secure the main point is they dont allow images to be posted, which can contain viruses..... basically there would be much higher levels of peoepl losing accounts. Jagex also dont liek giving too much away, they deveoped the KB, and the quest help guide so that peopel can get tips and hints about how to do somthing, without beeing told directly how to do it, it does take alot of fun out of the game following a quets guide for example. By showing peopel to these sites it would detract from the game. I think the main thing is though is security, lets face it fan sites are more dangerous than the the jagex sites.....
  3. I like the way you seem to find excuses not to read every comment that will prove your wrong, I recomend you read my message it will point out how wrong you where on so many points. I may be a bit of a troll, that what the steryotypical offical rants forum users do to me, but atleast I make a fully thought out desission, I will real all evidance provided to me and judge after that, I would asume if you act as you seem to be doing on your site, you will do a worse job than Jagex or me.... Always review all evidance given before you make a judgment, first impressions are no way to judge a situation.
  4. Seems to me that I know alot more about things that this than you...... you seem to be spouting out a load of random words hoping that peopel will think that you know what you are talking about. Players do NOT own thier account, jagex do and they will do for a very long time (till after your account no longer exists). You are using your account under licence, like any other kind of licence, paid of free, if the terms and conditions off operating under this licence are broken the licence can legally and freely be taken away. At the base of every page jagex proides a link to the terms and conditions of the site, this is the licence agreement that eveybody agreed to follow apon starting an account. If a person decideds to not follow this they no longer have any entitlement to operate on the site. If sombody took jagex to Court over a banned account, that person would lose their money. It is Jagexes rite to remove you from the game. Jagex also state under the terms and conditions that players with credit left on account at the time of banning are not entitled to a refund, again apon creating the account you agreed to this condition of use. I know alot about copywrite law, and of retail legal entitlments, at on point I could quote off whole sections of consumer law including dates and act numbers. You seem to be under the impression that you own your account and you can do anything you want with it? well I think you will also find in the terms and conditions that you may not share personal infomation on the site, and so no you dont have a right to tell peoepl your infomation...... it's not your desission to make. Now I am beeing very hard with how I am explaining this as you seem to refuse to accept thinsg liek this. Personally I dont have a problm with sharing your own personal infoamtion through private messaging, I feel it would become their probelm if anything goes wrong, I feel in alot of cases warnings are needed, as they really are. However, I DO have a problem with peopel asking for others personal details, this IS a a danger, and should be stoped. It is the responsibility of Jagex to make sure the people playing on this site are safe, this is not a legal requirement, as stated ont he site, but they are caring humans and do care.
  5. Personnaly i find the game rules quite simple, unlike the forum rules they are set under the main headlines, and are mainly based on common scence. The personaly infomation one is however probaloy the hardest to grasp rule. Just to give you the jist: you should not ask or give out any infomation that compromises the safty of your account, or could help to find you in real life. To protect your account the following should not be talked about: * Where were you born? * What is your pet's name? * What is your mother's maiden name? * What is your mother's middle name? * What is your father's middle name? * What is the name of your school? * Who is your best friend? * Who is your favourite cartoon character? * Who is your favourite actor/actress? * Who is your favourite band/musician? * What is your favourite book? * What is your favourite vacation spot * What is your favourite food? * Who was your first boyfriend/girlfriend? These are basically the answers to the recovery questions. It is also strongly recomended not to give out the date on which an account was started, although a ball park figure is fine, if you rememebr theexact date this is infomation that can be used to take your account. For real life saftey it is important to protect the community from internet preditors, sadly they do exist in the game and we should be aware of this! There are also cases of bullying or harasment that could be opened from being able to contact outside of the game. Rememebr the adverage gamer on runescape is between 13-17 and needs a certain level of protection. You should not give out: * Your date of brith (birth day is fine, age is fine.... not fine together) * Address - basica areas are fine EG, "I live in Greater manchester" is fine... but "I live in 23 abby street, salford, Greater Manchster" (made up address) would pose a real danger for you. * E-mail - again this could lead to alot of real world harasment, let alone open you upto viruses. * My-space/ face book etc - these give huge amounts of personal details and are dangerous * Phone number - again this is dangerous * User names on other games /sites: it is important to keep players in an environment where they can be moderated due to the type of peopel who play the game, if they are directed to anotehr site you leave the safty net which Jagex provides.... Jagex cares deaply about it's players. *full name - first name is ok, but a full name + the are you liv in make it easy to find you in real life. * physical apperance - again this can be used to find you is some other infomation is given. Alot of these bits of infmation are usless on their own but internet preditors will often build up data on differnt player and can use small bits you put to gether over time. I fully understand that people break this rule, especially with instant mesaging addresses, but you must rememebr that it puts you at risk. As I know peopel will do it.... if you do only every give infomation only ever do it through private chat with peopel that you know very well! (very well)
  6. Dont know what went on there, probaly a mistake at their end with the message they sent.... however your account would ben banned for the name, names are banned when they are offencive, use double+ spaces (new accounts, encorage rulebreaking, pretend to be Jagex, or somthing like yours which they would assosiate with rule breaking.
  7. I am sorry, But I would not like to see this. Remember new player are mpt as nice as older ones (on adverage) as they have had less interaction. What this is doing is removing the mature good influencing players from the community, it would damange the game.
  8. yes and yes! you may use my wording. The ardgoune Half house Just before tje release of construction, there was a game update that had an odd side effect. half of the servants guild in Ardgoun was uploaded in the game, there was a roof on the floor, and only one outside wall. it was removed in a system update a few days later. The warriors guild When the warriors guild was released everybody ran up to burthope to see it! however one small mistake was made...... they forgot to upload the guild! when players got there they found an empty space, the game was rebooted again a few minuits later :P _________________ Just to tidy this one up: they items where not invisible they where deleated, one trustworth player claimed to lose 7k rannar seeds, although we was so rich it was just an annoyance rather than the end :P ~The great deleated item!~ On the release day or the achivment diaries a temporary sticky was posted in the recent updates forum to calm people down after another nasty bug. Although I am unsure or the circumstances it was possible for stackable items to randomly disapear from a players inventory, most of the cases I heard of where releated to cash, seeds, and pieces or eight. Once again, credit goes to Bobbington2
  9. Bless the real world trading rule. Thsi rule means the runescape cash holds no real world value, and as as such is worthless.... this means it cannot be taxed. Also you must remember thatw e own nothing our accounts and it's contents will always remian property of Jagex, and so we are just re araning how they store their data of whats where. This tax is aimed at games such as second life where people can real world trade items.
  10. so did I :P May be "old" is a better word?
  11. you mean rule 16? Rule 14 - Misuse of Official Forums Forums must be used respectfully at all times. Rule 15 - Advert Blocking Please do not block the Adverts in free-to-play RuneScape.
  12. The instant death bug: A few week prior to the faldor masacar, player standing in random spaces such as faldor square, the gargoyals, and outside of tears of guthix would randomly die from a "one-hit", Jagex rectified this bug quickly and pointed out although it was extreamly nastly, it was not new, and only happened in some cicumstances. The only reaosn it took so many people that day was bacase the discovery of the bug left to alot of people trying to test it (it got me twice :P) Random vanishing item bug: On the release day or the achivment diaries a temporary sticky was posted in the recent updates forum to calm people down after another nasty bug. Although I am unsure or the circumstances it was possibly for stackable items to randomly disapear from a players inventory, most of the cases I heard of where releated to cash, seens, and pieces or eight. sleeping cap bug Pre wildreness ditch players worked out how to lure players into the wilderness using the emotre on the sleeping cap, standing near the entrace to the wildrenes, a player would ask another to follow them. they would then trigger the special and then click inside the wildreness. The plaer would not move till the emote had finnished but afetr it had the lurer and the victim woudl both appear in the wildreness skipping the warning screen. Two Jads?! there was a bug in which a player having killer the level 702 jad where faced with him respawning a few seconds later killing the player, this stoped many people from collecting their fire cape;
  13. If Jagex feels this is cheating they can always change around a quest to make it impossible.I don't care how hard it'll be for them, let lower-levels do quests! Since when does a number above your head decide your tendency to "cheat"? If pures cheat eliminate their methods, don't just bar them from doing anything. This is little better than steryotyping. Just because someone doesn't choose to go with the norm doesn't mean he's an automatic n00b. So many runescapians flame certain types of players for being different. It's as low as racism, because it technically is. Oh no sorry I did not mean it like that, ermmm I dont know how to phrase it better, but I know what I meant :P Give me some time I will think how to explain it better.
  14. in my opinion this was a good idea, it could have possibly been emposed on a differnt quest in a more appopreate way. HOWEVER As seen in quest such as desert treasure, pures find ways to "cheat" the way though a quest. allowing people to hide behind anoyther player so as to do a quest with 0 risk. I feel the requirment means that people who do the quest are those who had the ability to do it fairly.
  15. Very! Spongebob on his own is enough to make me cry! Spongebob used to spam is just too much
  16. To be honest with you, I find these letters in fairly bad taste, they seem to be written in the view that it's all the victims fault. Of course the victim has been given every opertunity to know better, but at the end of the day we and jagex should be working to remove the scammers from the game. Jagex should make updates to make the game safer for everybody. Why dont people rant about the existance of the second trade screen? Well basically because everybody can almost fall for a scam nomater who you are.... ocassionaly although rare, even the most experianced of players could get caught out. Of course a large amount of responsibility lies with the victim, but I appreciate features in the game that are there to prevent this. I find it annoying that so many people belive it's only the victim to blame. Yes some scammers have alot of skill, and yes I can understand a certain level of "wow they figured that out well" but this should never be misread as respect! Respect should only given to those who deserve it, respect the people who find ways to stop scams, not those who cause them!
  17. I will go as far as..... it depends on the situation. Are they saying thanks because you just helped them? or was it a balanced trade?
  18. just to set you straight there, they would not give that punishment for that offence unless it is clear that you are refusing to listen to warnings against it at which stage I am sure you would agree the punnshment fits the crime. Even if you disagree with a rule you should still try and follow it, I have no respect for people who refuse to listen to a warning it reflects badly on them, no matter what the rule was that was broken. I do sadly hear alot of the responces beeing totaly wrong, although like any business you are more likely to hear of mistakes than good doings..... I think Jagex may appreciate more reponce about mistakes via the "comment on our service" link of the runescape home page. I have been told in private that unless you get the "sorry we could not read your message" reply, a human has looked at it.... sadly again like in any business some employees are more dedicated in others. If you have a probelm I would recomend not deleating your inbox messages (as Jagex can look at what you have easily) and them use the complain subcatogory and try to include the Jmods name. I belive although they do have several 100 premade messages there is no auto reply thing for queries. And abues reports are always reviewed by humans.
  19. If you understood the set up of the company you would realise that would be a waste of time. http://www.jagex.com/corporate/index.ws Take a look at the staff list, it will show you how they are set up. The cotent team are entirly seperate than the customer support one. If you stop conetnt to focus on customer support you woudl just have a load of content designers sitting around doing nothing :P I admit that like any company it does have it's weak spots, but I find it encredibly rare that people know what that are talking about....... Jagex does not have bad custoemr sercie in the granc sceam of things.... if you want to see bad customer service try getting a replacement part for a HP computer..... out of all the peopel I know non of them have been happy.
  20. 19 years old, have had seveal part time jobs working in a store with over 200 employees, I was the first person in a 10 year gap to get a letter to my manager about how good my customer service was (turns out now she keeps coming back and we hate her :P but that is besides the point) I am also now a univsesity student, doing graphic design and with that I am self employed as a designer, I go into companies and help them improve their image, and their marketing...... all in all I am alot better in this than most people. Aside from that I also have fairly respectible qualifications in business studies, and human psychology studiying each for every years. They do, the customer service section of the staff is huge, this covers the snap shot review team, the ICU team, the OST team the forum support team, the Player moderator support team...... etc etc....... it is a huge department. Each team is headed up by managers and each group of teams have a middle manager, the teams interact with specialists mixing so it is spread over to get a good coverage. Also they do alot of polociy changes things are constantly beeing tweaked, altered softend, hardend, or removed. There are changes every day, all aimed at improving the levels of service offered. The staff are regually trained to ensure consistancy, and even the volentary groups (mod) are trained for this. Who said they are understaffed? there are some rare occassions where coverage is not perfect but this is the same with any company..... sundays and bank holidays are always going to be undrstaffed, this is England! They use as you put it "canned responces" to provide a better service, speeding up their productivity, whilst not subtracting from the quality. Using them actually means they can maintain a level of standared. Whilst members are prioritiesd over free players in customer support, it is very admarable that they treat each group the same! I would think it would detract fromt eh image of the company if they only looked after those who paid. I have a lot of respect for how jagex treat their players. Remember this game started as a F2P game, members is only somthing that developed at a later date. Originally all the funding came from adverts, this was enough to fund the game although they introduced members so they can more than fund it but make it great. Free players are just important as members! For a while fan sites where no longer punished as they where in use far too often, although it was still very much against the rules reported players would get off with a warning. However NOW you may not name fan sites either, I will not go into the reasons for this for confidentialty reasons, but the reason is valid...... thou shalt not name any site even a fan site. If them mentioned these companies interms of online enterties it would nto be allowed, and too right..... however these are not web based companies, they just happen to have a web eliment like 80% of other businesses...... It is fine to talk about the program I-tunes, howver it is clear that you must not discuss the itunes download site. I would recomed you re reading the rules...... yes you are violating the rules, it must NOT be mentioned. They dont, you must not mention any site...... simple as! there are differnt punishments depending on the site, for example saying "google" would only reaistically be punnished by a warning, alhough advertigsing a hack site, or telling people how to get to a site via google would be punished harder. It is done via risk assesment..... would you prefer it if eveything was punished by a perm ban for consistancy? or let eveybody mention any site for consitancy? that not fair they ban for a reason, they often hope a player would not create a new account, there will be some technical or legal reason to stop this though..... I dont know what. Wish granted! several years ago....
  21. Ahh it's Qeltar! I trust your figures, as I have seen alot of good from you (even though you do argue alot :P). Thanks for posting this, most people are totaly obvivous to the luck drop rates and frankly it gets quite annoying! I think the idea of beeing a lucky player or an unlucky player is fully based in opinion....... but it cant be ignored some players are redicuosally lucky :P I know people who have got 3 or 4 barrows items a day, and dont often go a week without a dragon drop. Based in statistics I would exist in beeing an unlucky player.... I have killed 1000's of metal dragons, and done 100's of barrows trips to no reward :( (note I am mentioning metal dragons interms of their precived drop rate of 1:200 for dragon legs/skirt and not the visage) I think the rate you have said though seems low, and I guess I would say a 3rd age kite should have a higher rate. Paul once stated on the offical froum that the 3rd item (any) kite from a level 3 clue is the same as getting a dragon half sheild drop from a skelaton, I belive this to be in the region of 1:10000 due to some reports I hear, which would make me thing the drop rate may be around 1:12000! Obviousally this is totaly guess work, and I am sure you can work it out better than me (waves my nuramacy dyslexia card).
  22. Not meaning to by a spoil sport, funny as it was you should really have reported that thread  it's gone now though :)
  23. I think you are classed as a __________noob if your _________ is better than their __________. I think it's basically jealousy, I dont give a cabage what people think of my stats, I train what I like and if anybody thinks it makes me a noob they are free to think that.
  24. Almost exactly what they told me to "start another account." There is only one reason for this kind of injustice, JaGex is no longer what it used to be, it is now a large company who has no other intentions than to increase profits. They are now finding more and more ways to get people to pay more money, even resorting to Banning and Muting permanently for ridiculous reasons. I believe that this is morally wrong in at almost every standpoint. (excluding JaGex's of course) To be honest with you that is a bit unfair, yes profit is important to them, as it is with any company..... however you must remember that andrew, paul (and I think) Constant Tedder (big boss man) all care alot about the gam, it's workers and it's future. Andrew and paul are evn on the rich list! they have ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã108,000,000! so at the end of the day although it's nice more money is probaly not the main thing thats driving them. Infact Jagex has made another list! it's in the top 100 companies to work for in Britan for the excelnt way they treat their staff. this is not just in pay (the pay is about adverage) but interms of treatment, environment and events they hold. They seem to have huge parties for random occasions. Andrew and paul really do care. I personally agge with dlainedee that baned players should not be able to make new accounts but the way the game is set up it is hard to prevent without a full admital of the event. I am pretty sure though the ICU team will be watching them more carfully than other accounts.
