Western society likes to put down women that way. By making them look younger, they take on more of a look of powerlessness, making it so men can more easily justify themselves into controlling women because obviously women can't take care of themselves. ... No, I don't shave my armpit hair.
  2. I'm under a money squeeze at the moment, so I'm not likely to take advantage of this until later, but it does seem... interesting. I would rather Jagex not have implemented it. I agree with all the people saying it is a gimmick to make Jagex more money, but I do realize that Jagex is in it to make money. I just wish they were still making "make a great gaming experience" their highest priority rather than playing second fiddle to making money.
  3. I wish I didn't lurk so much on TIF. I should post more, but I don't. It makes for an interesting relationship with other users. More often than not, I know far more about them then they are likely to know about me.

    3. What are some things that stereotypical Americans should be aware of (item names, slang, etc) that are different from the United States? Read this book, could be helpful: Watching the English

I've been living the good life so far this summer. Lots of time with my friends, lots of videogames. Currently making my way through a number of PS2 classics such as FFX, possibly FFXII, then maybe making my way to my gamecube and playing through Legend of Zelda collector's edition. Should keep me well occupied. I should be heading home for a week (spending the summer in my college dorm) to take my girlfriend to visit with my family. Should be good times.
  6. Pshh. With the new Facebook messaging system, I get all my communications in one with fb messages and my @facebook.com email address being sent to my phone by text message, etc... No, but seriously though, I don't do all that. Thought that is all possible. I do have a facebook email address, and I could request them to send me my messages via text message. And I could use my fb email for my email needs and more. But I really just use my email accounts for school communications and family. With friends, I generally just use facebook, as it has a cleaner, more direct interface.
  7. The first girl I ever dated, we were friends before we dated. When she broke up with me, I had a heck of a time getting over her, basically because I didn't understand her reasons, and thought that I might have a chance in the future. Anyway, we stayed friends, but kept interactions a little spaced out. We were quite close, and it was hard. It took me a long time to get over her, and sometimes I still think about what might have been, even if only for an instant. Anyway, what I'm saying is, is that it is entirely possible to remain close friends with someone you've dated, you just have to be willing to live with your feelings. P.S.- I think dating a close friend has the potential for the best kind of relationship. Yes, if things don't work out, it might be rough, but a close friend is a close friend, and you should understand each other enough to be able to deal if it doesn't work out. Otherwise, I wouldn't consider that person a close friend.
  8. Do you have a source for that? Yes. Here, here, here, and here. All of which I believe cite different studies.
  9. That chapter is flawed. Though some statistics are good, there are many issues with his arguments. For example: The chapter fails to mention that the more educated the people involved are, the less likely they are to divorce in the first place. So no, when you combine the two statistics, marrying a more educated woman will not increase your chances of divorce, it will decrease them. Whatevs. I'm pretty dang sure me and my girlfriend fall in to that "13%", though I resent our lifestyle being called boring. We're definitely low maintenance and neither of us particularly care about sex. We're about being there for the other person, and trusting the other absolutely about everything.

I just heard that one of my friend's car alarm was set off by thunder.
  11. Minecraft 1.6 due this week: Notch's blog Maps are being added. I'm excited. EDIT: Minecart boosters are being fixed. AKA, booster tracks are the only way to speed up your minecart now. On the plus side, booster tracks will boost more.
  12. Actually, if you have the required level (and even if you're close) I think it's better if you do the high one until you don't fail instead of, for example, the level 10 or 20 trick, as those levels give minimal (a few hundred) exp, compared to a few thousand for a successful high level one, even if you fail it once or twice. So I always do the high level ones and repeat them until I'm successful (up to 3, maybe four misses total in an entire activity, obviously I'm not going to spend all 10 trys on the lv 99 and 90 ones just to fail them.)
  13. First off, you don't want lithium. It makes you feel really, really crummy (physically ill). And it is highly dangerous to take without a doctor consultation as taking it in the wrong dosage is very easily lethal. No online psychiatric test is reliable. If you really think you have BPD, go to a psychiatrist. Or your school counselor. Just don't self-diagnose. And paranoia is not a symptom of BPD. It may be a symptom of something else, but not BPD. Self-diagnosis is one of the worst things you can do. Also, BPD is not a "minor" disorder. If you had it, the people around you would notice, big time. See a psychiatrist, or at least a school counselor. But DO NOT take any sort of mood stabilizers (ESPECIALLY Lithium) without a therapist prescription.

I can occasionally devour a Taco John's hardshell taco or two, but I've sort of moved on to meat and potato burritos, or more recently grilled burritos. P.S.- I know it may be *slightly* more authentic (They both suck at that) and all, but Taco Bell is dumb and horrible. Today I didn't do much of anything. I worked, played some Minecraft, and did some dungeoneering in RS (blasphemy, I know :P)
  15. My girlfriend is/was like that. She consistently said that she was not romantically attracted to me, nor anyone else really, but eventually (after 2 1/2 years of being close friends) she decided that maybe we should date because we liked each other (not attraction) so much and cared for each other. It's much more complicated than that, but basically, my girlfriend felt the same way you do, and now she's my girlfriend and we really care about each other, so yeah.

Chrome needs more buttons. At the very least it needs one to put a drop down list of recently visited sites. I think that's my biggest problem with it. It's just too stripped down for me.
  18. Religious agreement is an interesting issue in a relationship. Sure, if you really believe what you believe and will accept nothing else (this is NOT necessarily a bad thing) you would do much better with someone close to your beliefs. However, if you hold strong personal beliefs, but are open-minded toward other beliefs, it can work. I once knew an Episcopalian and a Jew who got along swimmingly, even though they both held very strong beliefs, and were active in their respective religious orgs at my college.
  19. Graduated top of my class in high school, no studying necessary. Something like a 4.24 GPA (AP classes) College now, one of the top ranked schools in the US. Still get As and some Bs. (3.65 GPA) Still don't really study. If I wanted, I could study, and then I'd again have straight As easily. Instead, I prioritize relationships with people over studying nearly 100% of the time. People>Grades. Period.
  20. I no longer believe in the friend zone. I was "friend zoned" but I "got out of it" by doing nothing other than being a good friend. And now, having spent so much time as her friend, we have a stable foundation for a relationship that's looking like it's gonna last a long time.
  21. Same as apparently many people in this thread, in that this is the first year I will not be single. But, also the same as many people, we aren't doing anything special. She's almost anti-Valentine's day, so I think we'll just be going out for a meal at a casual diner, some day close to (but not on) Valentine's day. In previous years, I've expressed my affection to my close female friends by giving them a card/candy, just to let them know I appreciate them (strangely enough, none of them have ever been taken on Valentine's day either, and are all fairly anti-Valentine's day. Though one of them is now my girlfriend, so, you know. :D )

Mine's going superbly. Actually could not be better. :) I spent much of today sleeping. I showered at like 4:30PM, went to dinner with my girlfriend (not fancy, just food; college cafeteria :P ), then took a second shower at 7. Then hung out with said girlfriend up until just a little bit ago (now 3AM). Overall, a grand Saturday.
  23. I reccommend looking through the description of the episodes and see if you can find some promising ones. Here's a link to the episode titles and a short description of what they are about: Tyra Episodes I looked through the fourth season already and didn't see anything promising; that page starts on season 3. Good luck.
  24. Yeah, my ex is my closest friend, next to my current girlfriend. Who is so much more. :) Happy times taking place in my life at the moment. Though, I'm on break from college and haven't seen my girlfriend in a month. Head back Saturday and we plan to spend the day with each other. :)

So, I've never put a whole lot behind horoscopes, but I occasionally seek them out for fun. That said, here are facts that need to be clearly presented here. These "new" findings are not new at all. It just so happens that the national news happened to pick it up when someone said something about it this time. That's right, I said this time. This "news" has been around for forever, and doesn't really play into anything. Here's the deal. There are actually two or three systems of zodiac. One, the tropical zodiac, is what most western astrologers use, and what determines the sign that y'all are used to having. This system is not actually based upon the stars at all (or at least their current alignment; the dates are based upon the alignment when zodiac was invented) but upon the changing seasons, and the dates and times for that. The second system, called sidereal zodiac, is used in India and other eastern countries, and is based upon the constellation positions. There are two types of this system, one of which includes the thirteenth sign. Basically, I'm saying this news isn't news, it's news companies overhyping something they don't understand and not checking their sources beyond the original article printed in a Minnesota newspaper. What else is new. As for this 2009 BS, I have no idea what that's about. I haven't seen anything on that.
