Obama Eyeing Internet ID for Americans
What is it with people's rabid distrust of corporations? They are organizations made of regular people and are not out to get you. I distrust corporations because they have proven time and again that they are out for profit and will do almost anything to make it. They may not be out to get you, but they are out to get your money.

Obama Eyeing Internet ID for Americans
So, under this system if someone steals your password or digital passcard or whatever this is, they now have what they need to PROVE they are you to any number of sites that may contain information from credit cards to bank account numbers to any other amount of personal information rather than just the ONE account they stole/hacked the password to under the current system? Do I have this right? Serious question.

I don't like this. As previously stated, it may start voluntary, but if it is convenient for companies, they'll make it mandatory for doing certain things.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Hmm... Sounds like you're in the same situation I was in before I got in my current relationship. My first girlfriend and I dated for 2 months before she decided that "she hadn't realized being single was such a large part of her identity, but that she still really liked me, but couldn't be in a relationship right now." Unfortunately, I don't have any helpful advice for the situation. I doted on her for almost a year and a half, before another girl, with whom I was very close friends with, finally got to the point that she really liked me, and I liked her, and now I'm dating her, and can't see how a relationship with the first girl would ever had worked out, I'm so much closer to the girl I'm dating now. So, not helpful, I know, but... in situations like that you have to wait it out. Other advice, that I personally wouldn't follow because I don't like casual dating, is date someone else in a casual way until said first girl makes up her mind. And if she does it while you're dating another girl, well, tough luck, she can wait a little. Oh that's horrible advice! But it's an option.

Have you ever considered Buddhism? I think you'd like it. If you take up the right type, you'd fit right in. They don't think of the self either.

The actual TRUTH of actual reality
At first "I" glanced over the first post and labeled "you" a loony. Then "I" read through the posts already made. "I" went back up and actually read what "you" wrote. And now, "I" am posting here to say one thing: Uhh... What?

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if she did still have feelings for me. And sometimes I do too. Our relationship did not end because we didn't like each other enough, or because we had some irresolvable fight, but because she didn't want to be in a relationship. In her words, "I didn't realize how much being single was a part of my identity." In other words, she wanted to date me, not be in a relationship, which is not what I wanted anyway. And yeah, that's probably what will happen. I was just seeing if anyone had any brilliant ideas that I somehow didn't think of. It will be casual, but I still want to do it one on one so if she is upset about it, she has a chance to react.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Seriously? Both me and my girlfriend think this is a bad idea. We were thinking more something along the lines of what RPG had in mind. When I say my ex is still my friend, I really mean it. She's still in the top 5 people I'm closest to. I still get hugs from her all the time. I think she'd be hurt to find it out from someone other than my girlfriend or I, and we don't want that to happen. I know it's sort of her problem, being as she broke up with me, but still, it's a sensitive issue and my girlfriend and I don't want to lose our relationship with my ex.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Dan: That would be hard. I guess tell her that you think these things, and that you think it's harmful to your relationship for her to doubt you. Relationships are all about trust, so if she can't trust you, or even give you a chance, then... well. Anyway, things are going well with my new relationship. Still got a few days left until our agreed upon anounce to the world day (aka, tell our friends). Particularly difficult will be telling my former girlfriend. Though that relationship is a year and a half gone, there still seems to be a certain amount of attraction between us, and she may still have slight feelings for me, though she was the one who broke it off. We're still really good friends, but my girlfriend and I both are really good friends with my former girlfriend. We can't decide who should actually tell her. I'll probably end up being the one to do it, though I'm not sure how to quite go about it. I know I'll probably just have to come right out and say it, but I figured I'd ask around here to see if anyone had a brilliant idea of how to do it.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Hey y'all, long time no post for me. My laptop went out on me, and it was just too much work to log in and out of a school computer just to post one little thing, but I thought I'd drop by with a bit of news. I'm sure this has quite surely been lost in the mix, given that I posted it, what, nearly 7 months ago? So anyway, read for background, update after that. My interactions with her last night made it seem like she's not actually interested, by that I mean she was completely cool around me and there was nothing out of the ordinary. She just was saddened that her feelings for her crush weren't returned, and that there was nothing she could do about it. If she does have feelings for me, they are obviously much less than they are for said crush. As for my own feelings about the situation, they're complicated. She's always been classified by me as "off-limits" for me to actually have feelings for, for a number of reasons I can't share, even though I think I've had slight feelings for her from time to time. What's different this time is that thinking she had feelings for me took down some of the barriers I put up to prevent myself from developing feelings for her, so I really did start to like her. Meh, I've blocked the feelings before, I can do it again. They aren't strong enough to break my mental blocks. And if it turns out she does like me, then I can let them take their course if and when that time comes. Umm... So, we've been growing slowly closer over the past 7 months, spending more and more time, becoming closer and closer friends. That's right, I said friends. It was way past the point where people have asked us if we were dating, which we weren't, and as much as I thought she might have been crushing on me back then, she wasn't. But now, things have changed. It's kind of weird, but to make a very long story short, we're dating now. But that's a secret, at least until next week. We're taking until then to figure out both if this is what we want (less this, and more the next, we've had some time to think that through) and to figure out how to tell everyone who thought we might be dating that we weren't dating secretly all along, and that they need to wipe that smug "I told you so" look off their face right now, because neither of us really expected it to happen, yet it did. It's weird, because the possibility has floated around my dreams, but now... it's actually true.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
The only Problem I have, is I've only had sex twice and Im 20 in a fortnight. To me it feels like I haven't lived the life of a proper teenager/guy at all in my life so far (as well as a 1 year dry spell) Which naturally is going to make me sex addicted because I've missed out on the adventure to it but I digress... Well, I'm 21 and never had sex. Don't plan on it for another couple years at least. Who wants to be a "proper teenager/guy" anyway? Then again, I often think I have a mild case of Gender Identity Disorder, so I suppose I don't get much say in what a "proper guy" is anyway. Sex is overrated. I'm quite happy without sex in my life, thank you very much.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
I've been lurking, but I heard my name across the interwebs and now answer the call, if a little late. As RPG stated up the page, I am in my 20s (just recently 21), and I have never actually kissed a girl. I dated for the first time when I was 19, but we never kissed, as both of us took it as a very serious matter, even if most people don't. Heck, I'm not sure I even like the idea of kissing. I'm more of a hugging kind of guy. More body contact that way. :P Speaking of girls setting you up with another girl, I've convinced myself that by surrounding myself with female friends (of which I have many; actually a great deal many more than male friends) I am actually setting myself up with greater access to the world of women and hence increase my chances that one of my womenfolk friends with meet/know someone who is perfect for me and will set me up. At least that's what I tell myself. :P Actually, I've been taking a lot of comfort in the company of one of my female friends a lot lately. We actually subletted a house together the entire summer and saw more of each other than literally any other person all summer. And even though college has started back up, that relationship has continued. While it's not a romantic relationship (I know she isn't attracted to me, though I did think she was once and posted about it here like 5 months ago), I'm fine with that. She has basically become my best friend, and I've found that I really don't need any more at the moment, even if I am still looking for someone to date.

Your Unique Talents
Oh, I don't know... I can do a lot of random things, none of which I'm particularly awesome at. I can solve rubik's cubes (3x3 and 4x4) play the bagpipes, and a host of other odd things I can't think of at the moment. One thing that I do that is fairly unique as far as I know is that I can say the alphabet faster backwards than I, or anyone I've ever met, can say it forwards. Also, I'm currently learning how to juggle.

Mosque at Ground Zero
I'm wondering if any of the people against the community center paid any attention at all in history class. America has been stupid enough to do things like this before. First there were Native Americans, if it's not Native Americans, it's blacks, if it's not blacks, it's the Irish, not the Irish, it's the Chinese, not the Chinese, it's the Japanese, not the Japanese, it's the Russians, not the Russians, it's the Muslims. And I'm sure I'm missing some. America has a vibrant history of hating just about everyone at one time or another, and eventually they learn the error of their ways and are like "oh, my bad, I'm sorry we discriminated against you." I for one rather we skip at least a couple decades and get over ourselves enough to realize how stupid we're being and always have been.

Mosque at Ground Zero
An estimation, unlike this 40% figure we're talking about, usually has some basis in fact. To start with, here's a fact for you: almost 1/6 of the Muslim population live in Indonesia, a country that should have no particular grudge against America.

Glenn Beck and a call for religious rebirth
I feel silly for saying it, but a couple years ago, I liked Glenn Beck. Now, he's just plain mad, in more than one way.

Mosque at Ground Zero
I'd be interested in reading about this German Muslim community center. As for historical reason for questioning the motive, I don't buy it. All nations/religions have had symbols of conquering a city throughout history, using it as a motive to doubt an action now is BS. And I'm sorry, I CANNOT see how someone would see this completely unrelated to terrorism building as a "victory building." Anyone who believes that believes it because they want to believe it and not because it has any basis whatsoever in fact.
