  1. Heh. http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/mon-august-23-2010/the-parent-company-trap  =D> Fox news continues to astound and amaze me. I also remember hearing a report on how that newscaster who "didn't know what ignoramus meant," went to Columbia University. As an English major. I also don't believe there is any reason whatsoever to question their motives in building this community center, or to question who's funding it. I can probably link just about anyone to terrorists given enough time and knowledge of a person. It's not like they'll be secretly brain washing people and turning them into terrorists, seeing how the complex is open to the public, and if you believe that is it's purpose, then you've got to be plain stupid to think that they'd be stupid enough to build it where they are, and so openly.
  2. I think those videos show Palestinians celebrating 9/11, not Muslims. While most (close to all) Palestinians are Muslim, they were, as was said in the videos, celebrating because who they viewed as their enemy, the US, was damaged, not because of religious reasons, but for political reasons, being that they viewed the US as supporting Israel.
  3. Well from looking on a few websites, the month fluctuates, this years does happen to fall around 9/11. 9/10 actually. I wouldn't be surprised if some idiots said they were celebrating 9/11. http://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/tools/calendar/faith.shtml?muslim Well, Ramadan is actually a month long, and is the Islamic month of fasting. It falls from around August 11 to Sept. 9 this year, however, it was in the month of November in 2001.
  4. Even if some people are offended by it and find it insensitive (which I don't think they should), that is no reason for them not to build the community center when all laws and regulations say that they can. It is just like (and I hesitate to make this comparison, for reasons which should be obvious) Neo-Nazis are allowed to hold rallys and other events across the U.S. because it is perfectly legal for them to do so, even if many, many people find it "offensive and insensitive." Now, since it's been made such a big deal of, the builders of the community center are between a rock and a hard place. If they back down and move the community center elsewhere (which is not likely to be a viable alternative, given that the building of Muslim buildings is being protested everywhere now, not to mention that costs would skyrocket anywhere else in NY, due to the fact that the real estate was dirt cheap. Oh yeah, has that been thoroughly discussed? The area where it is proposed to be built in was not being used for anything else, and had in fact turned into a pretty desolate neighborhood.), People will be claiming a "victory" over the Muslim population, which would only serve to increase negative feelings toward Muslims, and increase the idea that they are second-class citizens (where have we heard that before? Oh, yeah, when slaves were freed. And for the next 100+ years). If they stick it out, and build the place, hopefully this will all blow over and most people will forget about its existence entirely besides those Muslims and other rational New Yorkers who take advantage of the new community center. However, I doubt that will be the case. The community center is likely to experience at least a lot of vandalism, and is likely to experience more than that. I sincerely hope that is not the case, but with how intense people are getting about this, I just don't know.

That's nothing, I'll be 21 in two weeks.
  6. I'm sorry, I misread my google search. I just saw the "5% of Saudia Arabia being Roman Catholic" and jumped to conclusions.
  7. True, but I don't see any Christian churches in Saudi Arabia, so it obviously is a big deal to them. Then you're not looking hard enough. Wow, that sounds even worse. Only because you took it completely out of context. I meant that they were built for those reasons, as evidenced by the statements following it.
  8. I guess hinting at you giving me some evidence instead of your mere hearsay wasn't enough. Many mosques were originally "worship houses" for the people that the Muslims have defeated. Go look it up - there is a strong correlation between defeating enemies and then building mosques over the conquered's land. Now I'm not claiming to know whether this actually is symbol of conquest or not (hence why I specifically said the words "IF this is true"), but I am definitely not going to completely dismiss the idea if the best rebuttal you can come up with is literally, "NO TATS NOT TRUE," twice in a row now. There is also a strong correlation between lands Europeans conquered and where churches were built. Big deal. It's a correlation. Mosques aren't built for being disrespectful to the newly conquered, they're built because they hope/force those conquered to convert. Of course, that's when land disputes and taking over new territory was common in the "developed" world, now they just tend to build Mosques where there are already concentrations of Muslims. This issue is really, really starting to get to me. If America starts disallowing the building of Mosques, I am very afraid of the next steps it will go down. I can't even convey how much it frightens me.
  9. So, weighing my own small opinion in on the issue at hand (and being completely superficial while I do so, I might add), I have a thing for redheads, and not dark red, but the orange red, light skin with freckles redhead. Though, for some reason, I connect with blondes in a weird way. Not that they're necessarily attracted to me more, at least not enough for me to consider making a move, but they seem to flirt with me more and give me genuine smiles more than other girls. Even more superficial, chest size, I suppose I prefer a medium B to a small C.

Weren't you with a girl for like 2 years? :s Nah, you're thinking of someone else. Anyway, in my last relationship I should have made it happen, but I was too concerned about "going too fast," something she was already worried about, and which was a contributing factor to the ending of the relationship. So we never got past the "quick peck on the forehead bit." Basically she got cold feet and decided she wasn't ready for a serious relationship. Dang I should have kissed her when I had the chance, I even know when it should have happened... Ah well, there's next time I guess. Possibly with the same girl.

    Hasn't happened yet.
  12. Across Nation, Mosque Projects Meet Opposition Sorry for being late in replying to this, the topic is moving relatively fast for me, who happens to check it every couple hours or so. Anyway, this is what scares me, seeing signs and protests like that. To me, it's only one step from that to the KKK. And boy howdy, does that scare me to no end. I think I really just need to become an ex-pat and head to Canada. I've never been one for patriotism anyhow. Or nationalism, for that matter.
  13. That's pretty good proof tbh :D i took one look and said "WHAT THE F---?!?!?!?!?!" are they still 12gp from tenzig? What rock have you been hiding under? :-P See: http://forum.tip.it/topic/269801-rock-climbing-boots-affecting-runescape/page__hl__rock+climbing+boots
  14. The thing is, your sample suffers from the availability heuristic. Because most of the people you hang out with agree with your general world view (including those on piercings), your sample is biased because it is most likely not representative of the population as a whole, even a sub-population like the age group 17-27. If I were to go off of my personal experience, I would say that most girls I know think piercings are gross, and wouldn't touch a guy with more holes in his ears than are on the entire rest of his body combined, let alone other body piercings. Of course, my experience is just as biased as yours, as the two of us come from completely different ways of life. And Brad P's Fashion Bible isn't necessarily a reliable source on the matter either, as it's written from your same worldview, and thus shares its biases.
  15. What still annoys me to no end is that the dungeoneering rewards require SO many more tokens to buy than the actual dungeoneering requirement to wield, especially since it would make more sense the other way around, as you can get exp by itself (and therefore inflate your level), but tokens you have to get from Daemonheim.
  16. Not to mention a lot of people would be horrified if you did that, especially if it was their first kiss. I know plenty of girls who would give him a good slap across the face if he did that, if not worse.

Supplements? Personally I think if you take pills to stay healthy you're doing it wrong. I took a daily flintstone chewable multivitamin for a few months about a year ago, but that's because I decided to be vegetarian for a while, and didn't want to struggle to find the right foods to replace the vitamins I was lacking.
  18. thought it looked more like a ring myself. Grice's cooperative principle says its a broom. One million points for anyone who understands that without googling it. Heck, 100,000 points if you can understand it after googling it.
  19. Wow. I would feel sorry for y'all if this happened. Personally, I don't have much to worry about, as my name is way the heck too generic to track, and people would need something else to go off of to find me.
  20. I suddenly found myself with 9k ink, so I started helping a bit, but they're going crazy with vandalism atm.
  21. Yes, you are missing a part. The tip.it guide is confusing in that you cannot get infinite moves until you do Puzzle part 1 and puzzle part two. These will unlock the medium and tall size tiles, respectively, and you need the tall one to get infinite moves. In my opinion, the infinite moves solution is placed at the wrong point in the guide and confused the heck out of me until I figured this bit out.
  22. My question is, how are you 5' 10", 110 pounds, male, and still alive? But yes, ask her out if you're interested. If not, and you only want to ask her out because you think she's interested, don't ask her out. Rejection isn't all that bad. Everyone gets rejected, and nobody will care for more than a week at the very most if you do get rejected.
  23. Throwing another pronunciation into the ring, I've thought it was pronounced "meh-mmm"
  24. I know this ain't truly serious advice, but I like making sure asexual is a term that's understood. Asexual refers to having no sexual desire for either sex. This does not necessarily mean one does not have romantic attraction toward the opposite sex, the same sex or both sexes.
