"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
It's ridiculous how many Psych majors/future psychiatrists/counselors this thread has/has had... Myself included, tbh. I happen to be at the "majoring in Psych" phase at the moment if you're wondering. I also plan to someday have my own practice.

Today...
[hide][/hide] You think you've got it bad? Look at Florida... I'm not sure I understand what I'm looking at here. Took me a while, but the lines represent latitudes. In the original one, it's showing that the tip of California is at the same latitude as parts of like Minnesota and South/North Dakota, places where it's quite cold at times. The second line lines up the bottom tip of Florida with part of Alaska, as Alaska has been dropped down to the bottom corner. Going by where the latitude lines are, those areas should have similar temperatures. Since the picture shows Alaska and Florida on the same red line, they should have similar temperatures, aka Florida should be really really cold. But it's not, cause Alaska isn't really there on the map, it's way way up north. See, it's funny cuz the map is wrong. Ha.

Is the finger on the right or left hand? Meh, I think dry spells are good signs, I think. My life's hanging pretty good. The three most important relationships at the moment that I have with women are all going quite well. Take that how you will... But no worries, spring fever is coming up soon, love, or at least lust, is bound to be in the air, and with that will come all sorts of fun and trouble. It certainly got me last year.

Bonus XP Weekend: Calculating Your Average XP Multiplier Per Hour
Remember that many people on this forum are high school or below, and have likely not encountered integrals at all. Simple enough to you and me, yet practically Siberian Yupik (I picked the most obscure language I could think of off hand, just in case someone spoke one of the more common ones I could think of) to someone who has only ever studied up to geometry in math.

Bonus XP Weekend: Calculating Your Average XP Multiplier Per Hour
I don't think the formula is particularly useful. Good show on the math, however. I don't think I would have the patience to integrate that (though looking at it again, I suppose it's not too hard, and I imagine you probably did it with a computer program). I'm not sure this will optimize anything, however. I suppose if you wanted to divide your time across many skills it would give you an idea of how much time you need to spend on each, but that might require excessive planning.

Shattered Heart Discussion
Did I miss anything? Dahmaroc is pronounced "Duh, mah rock" I've thought of it more as D' I'm a rock.

Scheduled Downtime with Next System Update
I don't think it will make specs a lot lower than they used to be. What I am guessing is that this is Phase One of their combat rebalance. By making everything multiplied by 10, everything can be more precise, e.g., you can hit 134 now instead of 13 in the old system.

03-Mar-10 Changes to HP Skill, Shattered Heart, RuneScape Lobby/Login Changes, Success at Smelting Iron
It seems Jagex is working overtime at the moment if they still plan to launch today... and you would think they would take down the Scheduled downtime announcement that mention's "today's release" if they weren't going to launch.

Yes, there is psychological research for all of the mentioned "tells." And unless you are consciously controlling your blinking (like right now, as you're most likely consciously aware of it because we're talking about it), there will probably be noticeable differences in your blinking when you're lying compared to when you tell the truth. Also, generally speaking, the bigger the lie, the bigger the tell. I'm guessing that part is because it's harder to convince yourself that what you're saying is true, whereas with smaller lies you can "trick" your body into believing them, even if your conscious mind does not.

Blind People and Braille
It'd have to be in a pretty familiar place in order for them to know where the door is and where the sign is. Otherwise they'll be scarmbling against the wall on every doorway they find just looking for a braille sign. Not really. Doors aren't that hard to find. And the signs, I'm pretty sure, are standardized at a specific height and location relative to the door.

Big Bang Conditions Created in Lab
Hmm... The possibilities... If you melt stuff down into its fundamental properties and then shape it back into what you want, then... Alchemy may finally be possible! lol. Hmm... it's kind of interesting, but having it last for such an infinitesimally small amount of time doesn't seem like much of an accomplishment to me. I suppose it is quite the leap forward though.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Why thank you. *OM NOM NOM* So... My former girlfriend certainly gave me a lot to think about tonight, though I'm not sure I want to elaborate on that. Just to be completely clear, as I know what many minds on this thread instantly jump to, we did not hook up. If you remember my post from quite a few pages back (which no one actually commented on), I said I was having a hard time getting over her. Well, a couple weeks ago, I reached my breaking point and finally made a sort of peace in my mind about it. Here's where it gets funky. Like literally the day after I do that, both of our attitudes toward each other practically make a 180, and we're completely comfortable around each other again. It was strange because BOTH of our attitudes changed at the EXACT same time. So then, tonight, we were walking together with her best friend after we all got out of a meeting, and she says to her friend, I'll catch up with you. Then, she says, I think you should have this back, as you used to wear it all the time and I've just kind of kept it for too long(or something like that), and then she very deliberately (like takes my hand and connects it with hers) places a necklace I had given as something to remember me her when we weren't going to see each other over the summer, and finishes by saying "I really want to be friends" (as I think I said in that post that nobody read :P, the tension between us has really prevented this, even though we both knew that we wanted to remain close) and says at the last moment, "And I think the verse really is true." (The necklace on the back has the Bible verse "If God is for us, who can be against us?") A quick side hug, and goodbye, and I'm left completely amazed at what had just happened. I don't even know what's going on. All I can really say, is that my relationship with this girl is probably the closest I will ever get to a fairy tale. I'm just wondering if there will be a happy ending, and what that ending will be. Also, apparently I did want to elaborate on that.

Well, let's see... "volo coire tecum" translates roughly to "I wish to meet with you," and "tu pulchra es" to "you are beautiful." Do I get a cookie?

The two inbetween the other two 2s can't be right. Happens occasionally when a farmer replants and cuts on an edge that has already been cleared, but leaves the edge numbers showing. At least I think that's how it happens, its been a while. EDIT: The above explanation is for Tranquilsky's pic. As for Bruno's, the enchant bolts spell enchants 10 bolts at a time, he has 58701 enchanted, not a multiple of 10. What's more is that he also has 3 unenchanted, which, had he just cast a spell, should have been enchanted with the "1" in 58701 for a total of 58704 enchanted bolts, and 0 unenchanted bolts.

Post all trivial Youtube videos here
Well, since this video is a big hit here on campus, I figured I'd post it in hopes of getting a laugh from a few people. It's a promotional video for the college that our campus president made for president's day. It's quite enjoyable. A few of the jokes are inside jokes, however. For example, it's good to know that "hegemony" is a huge buzzword on campus and everyone knows it. Also, the bell is only ever rung when someone loses their campus virginity, that is, they have sex on campus for the first time. Also pertinent is that Macalester is proud of its Scottish heritage. Even if you don't know these insider jokes, I think the video can still be enjoyable. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpEcCjpbm5w

You could also probably fit quite a few in your wallet it you don't want to be so obvious when pulling them out of your pocket.

God- discussion of any Godly/religous issues.
Okay. So the happiness thing. A study found that by their (the researchers) operationally defined definition of happiness (which cannot encompass all aspects of happiness, but is sufficient for most scientific research, especially in psychology), that religious people are, on average, happier than non religious people. Calling it a "fact" is just a way of saying that it has been scientifically proven, at least for that particular operational definition of happiness. I can't say more without reading the article and commenting on their methods.
