I noticed that most of the friends I had in life had a really weird sense of humor, so I guess that's what attracts me to them.

I'm not complaining about you giving your opinion. I'm just giving mine, which doesn't agree with yours. You can't measure alcohol consumption that universally. Everybody has different body types, tolerances, health problems, and alcohol comes in many different containers and has varying alcohol percentages. So there is no official definition of "responsible drinking". I would say that as long as you have self-control after drinking, don't drive, and don't do it everyday then you're a responsible drinker. And...? There are other ways to have fun than football, video games, skateboarding, and riding roller coasters too. What's your point?

Offense is the best defense. I'm pretty sure we're all just defending drinking. Nobody is saying you're wrong for not drinking - just that you're wrong for looking down on people who drink.

Of course there are. I don't consider his post respectful either, but coming from someone who just said that everyone who drinks is an idiot, it doesn't hold much weight. Also, what does asking for opinions have to do with anything? We're on a forum. People are going to speak their mind whether you ask for them or not. Yes, and those risks are increased if you stand on them or put your arms and legs outside of the roller coaster. If you ride responsibly, there still might be a risk but much much smaller. The same can be said with responsible drinking. I know, but neither is joining the football team. People risk things for fun all the time. Life isn't just about avoiding every risk that comes your way while giving up fun and it's not just about having fun while totally ignoring those risks. It should be a balance of both.

I used to chew gum all the time when I went to school. I did it for the nice taste, to give me something to do, to make my breath smell better after eating something, and so I could spit it out on walls and spite my school. Extra was my preferred brand.

You said I'm not a smart person. How is that respectful? I don't care that you called me an idiot, the problem is you calling me an idiot and then saying you're being respectful. It can be very cheap to get drunk. It cost much more to go to an amusement park and run the risk of dying on a roller coaster. There are risks everywhere you look, and alcohol isn't much different from any other fun activity if you know how to be responsible.

Yes that's true, I just take problem with the way some people word it. "Farming makes X amount an hour." No it doesn't. It makes X amount per hour of effort, but not per hour in it's traditional context. As long as they specify that the effort is what is being measured, then it's fine but a lot of people don't.

Everything is pretty much beyond your control. Technically, we're all puppets to our environment and brain chemicals so *we* aren't responsible for anything we do. But then again, those other things aren't responsible either because something caused them to be that way. So where is the line drawn? Conveniently, we draw it at ourselves to give us a feeling of importance and happiness. I think it's just a delusion we use to make ourselves feel good. Life is only pointless to those who think it is. I guess what I'm saying is that I'm happy to be me, and even if I was something else (which is impossible, but this is only rhetorical to make a point so let's not get into that again) then I would be happy to be them. So it's not like it really has any valid bearing, it's just something I use to be happy much like how people are proud of accomplishing something even though it wasn't *them* - it was their environment and brain chemicals. It's better than saying, "I wish I was a raccoon. It sucks being me." I choose to be more optimistic than that. And if someone wants to bring up Carl Sagan's quote then I'm going to be preemptive and say that is the stupidest thing I ever heard (bringing it up - not the actual quote itself).

What's even worse was when I got onto my school bus and all the kids behind us were pushing because for some reason they thought pushing people to get on it faster = being able to get onto the bus before someone else gets their seat. You're not going to magically get in front of someone by doing that, you're just pissing people off you [developmentally delayed]s.

As unfortunate as it might sound, it's very improbable that your name will be remembered but I don't think it matters anyways. As long as you have affected the world you leave behind in a better way, all is good. Reminds me of the butterfly effect. One small and trivial action can have an extraordinary effect, so we should really just live our lives normally for enjoyment instead of worrying about establishing a reputation that isn't going to last because credit doesn't matter to somebody that's dead anyway. So the most you can do is start a ripple of positivity. I just don't see how probability comes into play. I am grateful that I'm a human - I agree completely, but it's not like there was a chance of not being one and being something else instead. That implies that if something went differently on this planet, your "self" could indeed be a raccoon. How is that possible though, unless you were talking about what we're physically composed of which is why I brought up the example of rocks.
