Gun Control
Dogs that have not been abused and are seemingly loyal to the owners have been known to "snap out of the blue" and kill. I apologize for the rude wording, but the point you made is honestly just not very good. Alright, now I get the impression you're just playing with us. :shades: 1. They do. All the time, in fact. 2. Guns can't get loose and run into the neighbor's yard and attack them.

Abortion
Do you consider contraception or masturbation to be genocide? Is killing animals for food and resources immoral? What about plants? Unless we draw a line somewhere (which is still bound to be faulty - I know this), it would be considered immoral to wash your hands - which sounds even faultier. That's a pretty nice explanation. Props.

Riku's games that everybody should play
Lots of good games mentioned. Bioshock, God of War, Kingdom Hearts. KH1 put more emphasis on the story than KH2? I found the mind-numbingly boring beginning to be even worse than that of FF9. Giving the players absolutely no real game play until a couple hours in isn't a very good way to start a game off in my opinion. It amazes me how Square can manage to screw up so much and still have me liking their games so much.

I can't stand schools.
Yes, completely. (Sorry for the not-so-constructive post, but you already covered everything I would've said. :-P)

Things that annoy the HELL out of you.
I agree. I also hate going to bed at night. It feels like I'm being mother nature's [bleep].

Abortion
What? What does self-awareness have to do with anything? It's just as "wrong"/"right" to murder someone in their sleep than when they're awake.

The HIGH Road
Benefits: - Always happy, very easy to enjoy things You can feel a spectrum of emotions while high. Smoking while depressed can sometimes exacerbate it. I will agree that things are much easier to find enjoyment in though. - Worry-free Not true at all for me. I worry much more. - Increased attention to detail Absolutely. - Optimistic point-of-view Eh, not always. - Easier to be happy: Most everyday "stoners" aren't keen on improving their careers, they are happy with a basic job, basic lifestyle, etc. Generally I'd agree. But again, it is not a direct catalyst to happiness. - Everything is enjoyable: From music, to lonely bus rides, to staring at nothing, you love it I pretty much agree. Normal activities are just much more interesting. - Spiritual and mental freedom One of the biggest pluses. - Relaxation Probably the biggest plus. Disadvantages: - Weed is still somewhat taboo... most of society dislikes/shuns smokers Yep, and most of it is either based off of ignorance or [cabbage] "YOU ARE WEAK" pseudo-intellectualism arguments. - Some (arguable) health concerns: Lungs of course, loss of short-term memory, Impairs attention, judgment, and other cognitive functions True, the health disadvantages suck, but then again so do the ones for eating candy or greasy foods. It's up to the individual to pick whether the pros outweigh the cons or not. - Loss of motivation Quite the opposite for me. I get sudden urges to do something constructive. - Could ruin relationships with people (First disadvantage) Another opposite for me. - Lazyyyy Opposite. - It"s illegal Unjustly so. My point is that drugs affect everybody differently. I will never understand why some people get so angry and hostile while drunk. Fighting is one of the last things I'd want to do in that state of mind - I just feel much more peaceful. This being said, I think the amount of people who can handle drugs responsibly are highly outnumbered by those who don't. And you compare terrorist motives to lizard men from mars, therefore you are delusional.

Gun Control
If you fire at every shadow or creek in the floor, this is a problem of irresponsibility for handling the gun - not the gun itself. Just like leaving knives on the floor with a baby crawling around. This situation could have been prevented if you were simply more responsible - taking away knives altogether is not the proper solution. Dogs have been known to attack and kill their owners though. Your sentiment on dogs shouldn't be much different from that of guns when it comes to home protection.

What movie(s) did you last see?

Vegetarianism
What I meant by "better thing to do" is that not going through with it would be considered immoral or wrong. I should have worded that more carefully. Obviously I take no problem with people doing things because they believe there are good reasons. But when they believe, "I'm going to be a Christian because it's wrong/immoral if I don't," then how do you think a non-Christian would take that? Christianity isn't a good example to use because a lot of times they do [directly] pressure their religion onto people. Oh by no means was I trying to justify it. I was just making an observation on why I think he did that.

Vegetarianism
He probably assumed you were a moral vegetarian. Got to say, I think you're a rarity. Most vegetarians I met (in real life) do so because it's "the better thing to do" - and in that context, it is sort of like pressuring meat-eaters to stop eating meat.

What are you listening to right now!?
Tool - Sober Great lyrics, vocals, drums, bass, and guitar.

Vegetarianism
Interesting point - those who are on top of the evolutionary chain are also on the top of the food chain. But what about herbivores such as cows and carnivores such as certain fish?

France bans the niqab
^^The text format was very annoying. Honestly, I'm not surprised because I can put two and two together and I don't run and hide from the frightening truth. Funny how some people call you a bigot for not wanting to live in a world of intolerance.

Does anyone else think about this?
They are desensitized to poverty - if you've lived your whole life that way and dealt with it, surely you'll have the mentality that you can deal with it throughout the rest of your life. Although this is not really an excuse for laziness. This is one of the reasons I think the idea of mandatory schooling is silly. Some kids only go because of the legal obligation - they don't do any work and they consistently stir up trouble which takes away A LOT from the kids who actually do have a desire to be there.

Vegetarianism
Exactly this. A lot of vegetarians are insinuating that I am a worse person than them for not converting to vegetarianism, which is completely ridiculous. I have no personal vendetta against a vegetarian unless they go down that "holier than thou" road, then you're just asking for it.

What are you listening to right now!?
August Burns Red - Composure Only -core band I listen to. Hate most of the screaming. Don't appreciate the breakdowns, although there are bits and pieces of good drumming throughout. But there is just something about the guitarist that really shines.

Do animals have morals?
Can a dog not have its day? Dogs get excited when their master returns from a long day of work. Is this emotion, or is it merely a biological response to an external stimuli? And if the latter, couldn't the same be argued for human beings?

Do animals have morals?
Something interesting I was thinking about in the shower. I honestly don't know. Perhaps some of you can enlighten me? :)

Vegetarianism
You make a clear distinction between the meat-eaters who've offended you and those who haven't, yet this sentence is aimed at every meat-eater. And you really wonder why people bring up the "holier than thou" thing? For the most part, that statement is true (even if a bit bitter). Although I might take out the "living longer" portion because that's very subjective and has many other factors aside from diet. He's belittling someone's motives for not wanting to become a vegetarian as if it simply comes down to "you care about meat so much that it will blind you to the point of going against all of these great (which is arguable) reasons". Simply put, eating meat is not my "priority". However, you can say I "prioritize" eating a tastier and more convenient diet over wanting to scrutinize everything I eat to make sure it's void of meat so that I feel like a better person at the end of the day. The main thing is, being an omnivore is pretty much the default choice in our society. The way he worded it, he made it sound like I go out of my way to make sure I get my meat, when really it's the vegetarian who eats based off of their "priorities". I simply eat based off of opportunity (as a vulture) - not priorities (as an idealist). I actually do eat vegetarian dishes all the time, just not on purpose - and I don't feel any more righteous when I do, and more importantly, I don't pay attention in the first place. That was my beef with his post - not the actual reasons themselves, which is a different story. I agree with this. Even assuming plants do feel pain, it's silly to put them on the same level as animals just as it's silly to put animals on the same level as humans. [Edited to express my points in a cleaner manner.]

What do you think makes a good teacher?
A lot of the teachers I had were exactly like this. They favored discipline over education. I had teachers who would waste 10 minutes lecturing the class on how bad their behavior is for texting, passing notes, or putting your head down instead of using that time to give an academic lecture to those who were paying attention. And guess what? It made those kids want to act even worse because then they took the teacher as a joke. Very good points.
