It's great that you're sticking up for this guy who seems a great person. The thing is, you have to disassociate yourselves with people who do things like the fire drill stuff you mentioned. They can and most likely will jeapordise your cause. It gives the people who sacked the janitor justification to ignore your pleas, because some minority of idiot thinks breaking the law will help. An extreme example in the UK was a group called Fathers 4 Justice. They campaigned an extremely important cause; basically, equality in parental consent for mothers and fathers (the judiciary system heavily favours mothers here). Alas, some minority who claimed (which has been unconfirmed) to have been associated with F4J had a plan to kidnap the Prime Minister's son. The leader himself, dispite distancing himself from the incident, realised that the group had been tarnished and damaged beyond repair and promptly disbanded the group. Don't let people wreck the campaign for you too.
